Forgive my English.. but are they any statistics about team being in top 2 from the very first days of the league and then got promoted after 40 something games? It seems that it 's nearly mission impossible to beon top from day one till the end in a such a long league..this statistic could give you a hint about the chances of being promoted.. .Now about the coach (I'm a lorient fan).. they were no doubt about RLB 's quality in France..Our club is a selling club and the spine of the team was sold on RLB's second year.. he had actually quite a few clubs after him.. his style of play was seen as some fresh air in a league where players with technics are being replaced by players who are more and more physical.. Lorient being a small city everyone knows someone who kn ows someone at the club.. in my case, it's my sister who works in the bank where RLD 's son is a costumer ( he aslo plays for Lorient).. He said that his dad really enjoy his time at the club and in the city .. he actually find it easier to work with english youngsters who are more eager to listen and learn than the young french.. apparently there is a big gap in term of attitude..this is a little gossip that I wanted to share for those interested
Probably not the most common answer but Luke O’Nien is my favourite of the team. Maybe not the most talented or high ceiling player but he is 100% committed. He makes every challenge like his life depends on it. The tackle against Lewis Miley in the derby game the other year was the perfect example, he just said if you want to get to the goal you have to go through me but not until I go through you
I'm more than happy for people to look at our bench and think it's weak. Mayenda, Ballard, Alese, Seelt, Huggins, Poveda all to come back along with a few we haven't even seen make their debuts. Add in the experience of Browne and Connolly it doesn't look too bad.....
People talk about a lack of experience, but you have to remember that the likes of Neil, Hume, Cirkin, Patterson etc. They all have 3/4 full first team seasons under their belts, including winning the playoffs when they were very young. You also have youth players like Watson coming through the ranks offering competition too.
True, they might not be leaders but they've got plenty of experience under their belt in terms of the game they've played except Cirkin, his injuries have stopped him from even playing a full seasons worth of games.
@SleepyBoardGames-jk9up I should've added the names, I meant the likes of Neil, Jobe and all the young players that have had games under their belts. Yeah, Mepham, Browne and 09 are great leaders, we get didn't have them types of players around a lot last season. 09 has looked brilliant this season compared to last.
Thanks for the kind words lads. We've been getting a lot of love around the league since going 5 points clear on the weekend. Because of previous I'm going to remain reticent on promotion and titles etc. until the finish line is clearly in sight, but there is definitely a lot to be pleased about from our perspective so far this season 😃
Nice video lads, always nice to hear people gushing about my own team! Just to touch on that naivety when it comes to refusing to sit on a draw, that's actually something Le Bris has talked about, specifically after our two defeats. Both of which we've lost very late on. We weren't settling for the point despite having trailed in both games, got it back to level the scores but ended up losing because we were pushing for the win (and some brain farts in defence!). Right now it would seem to be we're willing to risk losing by going for the win. As for injuries, we do have some reinforcements hopefully coming. Samed is on loan from Lens and he's meant to be the bee's knees. He played in the champions league for Lens last season. He's not kicked a ball yet due to injury but hopefully he's coming. Also Aleksic who is a Serbian international (1 full cap) and really highly rated. He is fit and has been on the bench. I think we're just easing him in. There's definitely more to come from this squad.
Really enjoyed your vid. I think automatics are game on. RLB is the catalyst that has our team playing optimally and every player is buying into playing style. He's probably best manager in Championship and we have a quality team, so there are more gears to go through yet. RLB only arrived on first day of pre-season and still has elements he wants to improve. Very experienced players - Luke O'Nien, Alan Browne, Chris Mepham, Patrick Roberts and Dan Neil. Injuries - Ballard is close to a return. Our loan DM with 91 Ligue 1 games + Aji Alese will hopefully be fit after next international break + others to follow. RLB coached striker Django Outtara at L'Orient who got 6 goals and 6 assists before being sold to Brighton for 20m Euro in 22/23 winter window. Season before he had 1 goal & 2 assists. I'm sure he improved Mundle because his performance level shot up to JC 2.0 level. Same with Mayenda who scored 2 in 6 and is back imminently. SAFC tried and failed to sign Gift Orban and bid 11m Euro for Mohamed Bamba on last day of summer window, so owners are ready to spend if needed.
I'm taking it one game at a time but we're playing well, keeping clean sheets, scoring goals, over comimg the odds etc. We keep that up and promotion is the outcome . Long way to go, can't get carried away but can't be too full of doubt after our start.
The way le bris has sunderland working together now is frightening in comparison to the previous seasons. We all seen Jack clarke exit and he was the wonder man but we have still succeeded to work together, Patrick Roberts down the wing with the fast feet is like an engine on the field he's not only pressing opponents but is always happy to help in defence to. We have experienced men such as Anthony patterson, Dan ballard, Chris mephan, Hume, and the one touch and two touch football is to quick for alot in the championship and is a pleasure to watch
Long long way to go and the winter will test us and our bench. I still reckon the playoffs but a few quality additions in January will help. Let's see how they respond when we go through a bad spell. Haway the lads.
Wow, I would rather listen to you three guys than the so called experts on the main sports media. You have some greats insights into my team Sunderland thank you. If i had to single out someone it has to be Dennis Cirkin his overlaps at speed confuse the opposition. We have a right sided full back called Niall Huggins he is is on the road to recovery he is just like Cirkin but probably has more goals in him. Finally appearing on out bench now is a young boy called Thomas Watson looks like Jack Clarke but I believe he will be even better watch out for him. Cheers Lads look forward to your next show,
Trust me we have enough depth and experience in that squad, you just haven’t seen them yet. Lots of good youth and plenty of injured players to come back.

Sunderland have looked brilliant mixed in with being really lucky, but when you're playing really well with your tails up things end up falling for you. Not taking anything away from some of their attacking play and goals like their two at Luton and Isidor's vs Oxford which were sublime goals, but moments like the ref getting in the way of the Hull player who would've stopped Isidor scoring, the onside Carlton Morris opener that was chalked off, and the Meslier once in a thousand howler to give them a point when it was game-set-match loss is making me think the football gods are with them this season
The luton goal had their captain offside, leeds had 2 goals gifted by the ref and the bull goal the player had plenty of time after the incident with the ref
The ref stopped nobody and Isidor had to run the length of the pitch to score, Luton can stop whining too, their player was off side, there was no foul in the lead up to Mundles goal and their penalty claim was laughable.
Morris was onside for Luton, but their player in the middle of the 6 yard box was offside. Once he tried to make a play for the ball, although he missed it, he, by the letter of the law "became active". It was a good call by the asst. referee. As for our goal against Hull, watch it back carefully. The ref had positioned himself, and it was the Hull player who moved towards the ref. Even when their player had the ball, he still had time to pass to his right, or back to the corner takers, but tried to be clever and got caught in possession. Isidor still had 80 yards to go to score, but Hull decided to leave nobody back as defensive cover. It's not the first time Hull have been caught this season doing something similar.
