That the music is incredible isn't even up for the debate! But what makes this one of my favorite videos on youtube (together with Istampitta Tre Fontane) is the joy everyone shows when they're playing! Wonderful, beautiful video!!
Yes! The Saltarello Istampitta...now there's one, justly famous ditty. So catchy. I often find myself humming this one while walking down the street without even being fully aware that I'm doing it. It's STUCK in my brain. Love the alto and soprano recorder. Kudos all around. Superb ensemble. (PS: I like to play the violin as if it were a viol ;-)
@Rogin I see. Used throughout the Arabic-speaking world. Thank you. It and the pandeiro have so much more to offer than the regular tambourine. Here's a wonderful pandeioro solo that you might enjoy. th-cam.com/video/sVJtl0WaSLo/w-d-xo.html
@FedericoAndreas Because this particular manuscript contains a lot of different pieces from different times, it is hard to date. But probably this piece is from the late 14th century.
@Walvis2007 WOW! How enlightening to know that a tambourine is capable of so much! It sounds like three different percussion instruments playing simultaneously! Way to go Peter Maund!!!!!
Hello ! I've been seraching for this music a long time ago for one project ! Can you borrow me the score ou Sheet musica of this please ? By the way, this ensemble has a wonderfull sound :) Thanks
oh, i see, i guess it was a lute-guitar, lute shape, guitar tuning, but you're right, the headstock is different from lute-guitar. it's very similar to that one i said.
Felicitaciones chicos, muchas felicitaciones, simplemente hermoso, divino.
Tanzen und Springen !
Un rythme qui nous fait rire et voltiger ! Et que ça tourne ! Et que ça saute ! Et que ça monte, monte, monte !

@damedesmontagnes There is only one percussionist in the video--the fabulous Peter Maund.

How the heck does he get that much sound out of a tambourine?
***** Oh, I looked down, and he said there were other percussionists :D :D :D
***** No, someone assumed there were other percussionists, but they assumed wrong. Peter Maund is the entire percussion section. Awesome, isn't he!
Saluki Yes indeed! Very impressive.
It is because he is Peter Maund!
He's really good :)
The tambourine-like instrument is an Egyptian Riq.

Awesome! Thanks.
Ah Riq is my favourite instrument ❤️❤️
I wish we could see the other percussionists, but overall, a very beautiful and inspiring video! Thank you for uploading!
I believe there's only one percussionist
I want to learn that tune on the violin! I wish there was a score....
please! what is the second recorder? the higher pitched,, is it a recorder, ? is tuned in some special way? in what pitch? somebody know? thanks
It’s a soprano recorder, medieval/renaissance style (wider bottom hole)
That was awesome!
very nice

Its not just this ensemble, I think all VOM pieces sound much better than any other videos.
Hi there. Do you have any sheet music/score of this peace ??
Is there a date on the tuscan manuscript?
Thnaks Walvis that's great! :)
The percussionist looks like robert fripp lol. Fantastic interpretation of this istanpitta
His fingers must hurt.
Boeiend en leuk ( maar de persoon in blauw zonder instrument hoort haar voeten stil te houden )
he he he, that's not a lute, but a guitar ¬_¬
It is a lauta, a type of lute, not a guitar.
oh, i see, i guess it was a lute-guitar, lute shape, guitar tuning, but you're right, the headstock is different from lute-guitar. it's very similar to that one i said.
setheisenreich it is not guitar tuning, it is tuned in medieval lute tuning, the peg box is a medieval style peg box.
