I played the Epic Mickey as a kid, interested in it because it was the only other game my grandparents had for their Wii. Like an idiot, I read the instruction manual before playing the game, expecting to have all this stuff immediately. Once I figured out that, I had the adventure of a lifetime. I was entranced, enthralled, encumbered by the beauty and majesty of Dark Beauty Castle, the Gremlin Village, Mean Street, Mickeyjunk Mountain, and the whole of Wasteland! I felt as though gaming had peaked, and I was at the summit. When The Power of 2 graced my hands, I was taken aback again. So much life, so much story, I was in love! The co-op mechanics were handled wonderfully, and I loved every part of it. I was so disappointed, learning there was never a third installment, especially with that cliffhanger with the Petes. Now, I can experience that wonder again! Also, my top two favorite tracks of the first game are "It's a Small World," the Clocktower boss fight music, and the Mickeyjunk Mountain theme. Absolute perfection!
FR. In my personal opinion, 2 was alright. It wasn't great but it wasn't bad either. It was good in terms of solving puzzles with a friend while Epic Mickey 1 was better on simple puzzles and the story.
But either way, I'M HYPED FOR THIS GAME TO RELEASE ON SWITCH

Epic Mickey is a favorite in my family. My dad was the only one to finish it, and my sisters and I loved watching him play it! This brings me so much nostalgia!!

So I have an ideal as to why the colors of some of the locations seems brighter than intended is that the game is in its structural stage, they’ll probably darken the bright colors once the game is finalized
It’s also probably because it’s the switch version of the game, Notice how the steam screenshots are in way higher quality and better lightened than in the switch gameplay

Idk if you're gonna see this comment, but I really wanted to share my small story with this game.
As someone born in 2008, I was literally 2 years old when the game came out. I just learned about it around 2021/2022, when my animation phase begun (spoiler alert: still going). I suddenly found out about Oswald... And then his return with this game... And then the game itself... And I just went "wtf is this" and started looking up.
I was shocked. It looked so fun to play, such an interesting story and AMAZING art. I wanted to play it so badly, but I didn't (and still don't) have a Wii. I could play the second game in theory, since I had (and still have-) a PS3, but I wanted to have the full experience starting from, well, the start.
After a while I gave up on the idea, but Oswald was kept in my mind. I'd randomly tell friends his story (ofc they had zero interest lol)
Then, a day after the Nintendo Direct (something I was never interested in), my TH-cam recomended me the Epic Mickey Rebrushed trailer... So, um, since Wednesday it's the only thing I think about lmao
I never watched a full gameplay, or anything, so it's gonna be somewhat a blind experience... Couldn't be more happy about it :)
Even if I'm almost 16 already, part of me says I will cherish this game for a while
2008 kid here! I also never fully played an Epic Mickey game, despite owning a Wii. I only had the second game's demo on Xbox 360 when I was 4 and LOVED it and played it over and over again. And yeah, I haven't been able to think about anything other than Rebrushed either.
The clock tower screenshot makes me think there might be a new cutscene introducing him because in the original he shows up, makes face scary, A R M S, boss fight starts, but maybe in this we have Mickey walking into the arena being lead into a false sense of security by the happy face of the clock tower but when he turns around an arm pops out and tries to smash him, Mickey dodges and looks back towards the clock tower. The second arm then pops out and we see his happy yellow face turn into the evil grey face we all know, Boom boss fight starts.
Sorry if I'm saying a lot but I'm just really excited.

i always wanted to play this game, but it was too advanced for my skill level at the time, and by the time i would've been able to it was only available on severely outdated consoles. i'm super excited to finally get to play it, with updated graphics! i totally share your enthusiasm, haha
I’m very hyped for this remake! Never got to finish the original so yea can’t wait!
I feel the same way about paint being too bright but it's not got a date other than this year, so it's still in development. But I LOVE everything else about it, especially the new gameplay mechanics and costumes in the leaked footage which I recommend checking out. The only other thing I complain about in it is the new HUD which I'd hope they'd allow you switch between the old and new; But that's a nitpick personally.
I also love the changes to the projectors in mean street and Clock Tower boss to give a more visible entrance to where you come from instead of appearing on the platform; Its that little attention to detail in a remake I love. If you played the Battle for Bikini Bottom remake they did, as a big fan of it, then you can expect a high quality remake that's faithful to it entirely while giving the game a HD paint job; Plus some cut content implemented back in as well.
With costumes tho, I hope it includes hero and scrapper Mickey as unlockable costumes for completing Paint/Thinner playthroughs and carry over into other playthroughs; That's how I'd do it. Plus bonus costumes based off other concept arts like one where it's based on early beta Mickey/when Mickey didn't use a brush and shot paint out his hands.

I’ve played the only the second game on my Xbox 360, when I was little (and I still play), and I always wondered what where the previous events to follow up that game… can’t wait for the remaster!

This is the first time ive heard about this, and I'm HYPED! If it is just a remaster, i wouldn't even be mad, but i hope that they at least change enough to leave a noticable difference. If they were to add to it, they could pull stuff from all the unused ideas from leaked concept art and animation tests, for instance they could add a puzzle using the shock collars from the original version of Zootopia. The only thing i dont want added is Marvel/lucasfilm stuff.

When Purple Lamp remade SpongeBob, they added cut content from the original. I am hoping they will do the same for this game.
This has been my favorite game on the Wii along with Super Mario Galaxy back then (I was 11 years old at the time). I have been obsessed with the EM lore for the longest time. I still listen to its soundtrack every now and then even fourteen years later, especially Tomorrow City and the Clocktower theme!
I played this when I was little and the clocktower left a permanent mark in my memory. I never got to finish it as my Wii broke and I never found the disc again to play it with Wii U. It will be great to finally be able to finish it.

as someone who only had a xbox 360 growing up all i could play was epic mickey 2 but now that I have a pc and this game remaster is scheduled to release on pc I will finally be playing the original epic mickey for the first time without spoilers basically besides the boss fights so this will be exciting

Also hope they add new levels and bosses; At least to me, five bosses is a pretty mid amount for a platformer given the world it takes place in. Also might be able to showcase various areas from the sequel in a different context; For example, what were Disney Gulch or Fort Wasteland like around this time?

How I got into Epic Mickey was with Power of 2. Now admittedly the sequel is bad but I adore it. It's what got me into it. I was scrolling through games to get on my 360, I was scrolling scrolling and I saw power of 2, and saw mickey and Oswald, and instantly knew I had to get it. I 100% the game when I was little and that is to my day my best achievement. I'm so fucking excited to 100% this game. I never played the original due to it being a Wii exclusive, but now I can with this. I was in school when I was scrolling through youtube and saw it on my feed. The way my face lit up so quickly. I was in lunch and I was ready to scream out of pure excitement. Man I spent hours on power of 2, ready to spend a shit ton more hours on this remake.

i wonder how faithful it will be cause i dont remember mickey having that one move he does in the origional, were we able to quickly throw ink benief us mid air back then too? also, i would welcome certein changes, that will balance out the lack of motion controles as well as some add´s to the side missions that make em more rewarding as well as bigger consequences to our actions but only time will tell i guess

I actually prefer the groans and exclamations over the full voice acting that Epic Mickey 2 had so I hope there's an option for that

Granted the original game technically did have multiple endings even though all of them just kind of get tossed aside at the end with Mickey and Oswald becoming friends.

The BFBB remake was pretty high quality (despite being rushed) so I'd say this is in good hands. It is probably gonna be almost exactly the same though.
I wouldn't bet on it being the exact same; For one, with the new moves like the dash attack and ground pound, that means the level design and enemies will need some tweaking because the player could use a dash attack in order to completely break the game's platforming that was NOT designed for such a move and also use it in combat to completely cheese fights with little to no ability to counter it. Remember: Moves like these have a ripple effect on the gameplay because now the platforming, enemy variety, and puzzles have to take it into account so that it isn't a cakewalk breaking the game.
