It's always good to have a caretaker before going to vacation when you have something alive at home.
Right? One time I heard this story on TH-cam where somebody went away with their cat and lizard and when they got back the lizard was gone and there was a lizard tail in the cats bowl.
Did you miss the part when her aunt is gonna to come over to feed them???
The aunt is taking care of the fish. It's much, much safer to fast fish for a week and then have them fed 2x/week by the caretaker than to try and have to caretaker do the water changes and all the normal feeding and care. Each tank is an ecosystem and an inexperienced person or one unfamiliar with the set up could crash it completely.

I wouldn't say that, there's plenty of fishkeepers out there and quite a few amazing fishtubers. She's really good at bringing in new hobbyists though I would say. Because of her "cute" and simple approach when she gives information. I personally prefer more laid back channels myself cause its all way too fast paced and tiktok esq. Its a little sad to say, but her voice is a little annoying. It's too happy. I don't think she makes videos other than shorts either. How fun this ramble was. Cool. Bye.
Eh I maybe take back the voice thing. I think it's just cause the cuts are too close to each thing she says and it's kinda overwhelming. Her voice is fine, I feel a little bad now.

If you ever go on a trip again, you could put a modified dog feeder full of fish food and just click a little button on your phone and then it will feed them and you could even change how much you feed them

My senior shubunkin goldfish was murdered by one of those weekend feeder tablets I’m assuming due to an ammonia spike. I was also gone for a month and had an ex check in on her once a week. Really wish I had these type of husbandry videos around so I could’ve told him to hand feed her as well. She was 10 years old and I swear she could tell family members vs strangers apart. I guess all I’m saying is never underestimate the lethal potential of ammonia
I have a saltwater aquarium and have a maroon clownfish that can tell the difference between me and other people and for some reason won't attack me but as soon as they see someone else's hand in the tank(generally because the nori clip needs more nori but sometimes it's because the tongs fell in) an sometimes my maroon clownfish will gently headbutt my hand or swim at my hand like they are going to attack me but then they turn away right before they would have swam into me. Fish can definitely tell the difference between people.

Ammonia can really be a creeping menace. I remember having a mass die off and sickness event.
Remember that this can also happen to humans as well, make sure your co2/co/gas detectors are working well, and make sure enough air is getting into your house.
If you work in your house all the time, co2 builds up and makes you sleep bad and feel irritated.

You treat your fish so well!! So many people see fish as an easy pet and don’t try hard to take care of them (that’s what happened when we had fish growing up). It makes me happy to see the care you take with your fish!
also explains since they see it as an easy pet, when they actually get one it ends up dying earlier then it should.
Fish are easy, they dont need walks or to be toilet triained, it's the tank maintainence that people just don't understand. I have my tank set up so it rarely ever needs a water change so I can spend all that time that would normally be spent doing water changes or gravel cleanings I can just watch my fish swim around and enjoy it.

For no risk,you can get a relative or a caretaker to take care of the fish but just make sure they know how to take care of one because if not,they may just ignore the fish or feed it less than how much it needs to be fed.

Thanks to this video, I finally understood what happened to the last goldfish I had. We had a weekend family trip and my parents wouldn't allow me to take my fish to my grandma's while we were gone for her to take care of it (I was a about 11-12 years old). They told me just to put enough food for it. When we came back, my fish was dead. I still cry when I remember that, because I knew doing that would kill him and I still feel guilty about it. It's something I'll never forgive my parents for.
