  • This barn was built with the help of family and friends. Took me 3 months from start to finish and cost me right around $15,000 not including electrical and insulation.
    Total slab dimension is 30'x63'
I purchased the kit from a company out of Oklahoma named Gober Post Frame Buildings, it was easy to work with them and they helped me along the way if I had any questions or concerns. They sent drawings of the barn layout which were easy to read and go by. I ordered a basic 30 x40 barn and I designed and built the front porch truss to add as accent.
    Cost Breakdown
$8,045 30x40x12 Kit from Gober Post Frame Building
    $35 sonotubes
$210 wet set brackets, formed plate only
$26 1/2" rebar for wet set brackets
    $120 bolts, lag screws
    $54 12" auger rental
    $240 cement for sonotubes
$37 4- 2x4x16’ lumber for concrete form outside of barn $260 2 loads of dirt
    $680 3/8"rebar 12"oc
$160 rebar wire ties , plastic sheeting for moisture barrier
    $43 plumbing for future toilet
$60 Rubber boots purchase for helpers during concrete pour
    $3442 27 yards of concrete
$650 labor payout for crew who helped me finish concrete
    $10 masonry screws
$63 4x6 posts mounting brackets and concrete anchors
$376 lumber for front porch roof truss
    $40 stain
$37 door parts , door knobs
    $40 paint
$40 fork lift rental to raise front porch truss
    $30 primer for door
Total $14,698 (not including electrical and insulation)

Awesome job! I love that overhang in the front. You can leave the door open if it's raining and if you are in a snow zone it won't get all packed up against the door!

Hey , looks a great job , proud of you for getting it done and a big thank,s to the friends and family that helped , i move down to Newfoundland about 10 years ago from Ontario Canada and did promise my self a 30x30 garage , well i finally built it / had it built this year , it did set me back $ 28000-30000 as i had to get a carpenter to do the job for me as i am no good at this sort of thing, so my specks are , 30x30 inside with 12 ft ceilings , and 200A supply electrics with separate meter , 2 x10ft x 8ft high garage doors and a 7ft x 3 ft side entrance door i had 3 windows fitter 2 at 10ft high for light and a 3x4 ft standard fit by my future bench area the roof is metal and the siding is plastic looks good but the main thing it was worth it to me , the floor is 6: thick and the concrete is 3500 psi , it all sits on a floating Alaskan slab ( their is 10 full truck loads of stone in the foundation ) Thank you and good luck to finishing it the way you want to Anthony

I will be referencing your video many times in my future. Mine will eventually be a horse barn that my wife and I have dreamt of building for our daughter. Ella is a cancer survivor and has taken the horses for therapy “Ella fights back”. I would love it if you were available to answer a few questions but it’s ok if not.

    • @babyjesus557
      @babyjesus557  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

Yes for sealing, regular drill doesn’t always push the sheet metal all the way against the 2x4. Impact driver works better but you need to watch out for overnighting

I did a really light sanding of the white finish, blew air to remove dust , then i used a cloth soaked in mineral spirits to clean it up well before applying some rustoleum clean metal primer thinned with mineral spirits and then just applied the black oil based paint also thinned with mineral spirits. I really like the way it turned out , the coat came out strong should last a long time
