Yeah, no doubt. There was a Marshall Lead 12 I had been eyeballing on craigslist once and the day I decided to pull the trigger Johans video about it came out. The price jumped $100 before I could load up the listing to grab the contact info.
That seller DEFINITELY saw that video. No doubt in my mind.....

There were quite a few guitars in the late seventies and early eighties that destroy Les Pauls. Ibanez Artist series were one, and my personal favourite, the Yamaha SGs. I had a 1983 SG 1000 and it was probably the finest guitar I've ever played.

Double cream humbuckers with allen screws = Dimarzio Super Distortion. BUT, they have two height adjustment screws on one side and one on the other so they're Mighty Mite super distortion copy made in Japan as used in many Ibanez guitars. Great sound and versatility but not LP sounding. Ibanez Artist was closer to LP sound in that era, it would be nice if you can find one and demo. Cheers!

Awesome stuff Johan! I have a Washburn Falcon that I swapped for an Epiphone Les Paul Studio. No money changed hands. The owner had it under his bed for 25 years, unused and yet still bang in tune, no Les Paul will do that.. Allegedly its original owner was Micky Moody of Whitesnake. It sounds awesome through my 1981 vintage 50 watt 2104 Marshall JMP 50 watt combo, definitely capable of standing up next to anything Gibson have to offer.

That guitar looks in decent nick for a 1979 example, it's about 40 years old now (which makes me feel old)
Judging by the headstock design and the hardtail bridge, I'd bet that it stays in tune better than a les paul. 👍

Johan, wasn't the Ibanez Artist models that came after the end of the lawsuit Les Pauls, supposed to be the answer to the Gibson Les Paul's? They had mahogany bodies and necks, maple top, and rosewood fretboard. Essentially a double cutaway leaning towards Les Paul territory. They even came with some fairly aggressive pickups, like the Super 78's, etc.

And you can see, I was the first one, who commented that video, but I am very thankful to mr. Segeborn for that little "present". He knows my "crazy points" very well. But really - for 50$ its excellent instrument. If it made in USA, you can hear it everywhere: from M.Jackson (Aunt Jennifer playing it) till Dimebag. Something is overestimated, but generally this is AWESOME guitars (but not the eastern lines). But anyway, AGREE!:-))

I had one of these wing series bought it brand new in 79 from from freedman's in Leytonstone highroad mine was the falcon will a rosewood top, a stunning guitar for £250, I wish I'd never sold it, I sold it to my friend cheap (£100) if he gave me the chance to buy it back, but he gave it to his brother who won't let me have it back, he doesn't even play guitar!! I remember Nancy Wilson endorsing them in the Washburn catalogue, oh well you live and learn, I must admit I've always preferred my strats!! Your guitar looks like a falcon the hawk had only one rosewood stripe and no coil taps, they also did the stage series that were like explorers.

Used Washburns in general are insane value for money. Go look up some of the higher end Washburn models, you can usually find them for pennies on the dollar on the used market. They are the deal that USA-made Peavey guitars and basses were 10 years ago.

If it's ok to ask a question not related to this specific video:
I've been listening to Page playing in 1975 lately with that extremely clean but ballsy tone.
Do you have any thoughts on that era in particular?
The KT88 tubes, etc. A great and tough to play with tone imo.

Mate. You are just dead correct. LP Killer. I bought mine in 1979. The first real guitar with my own money. Still have it. It was from the factory change over deal. Same as one played by John Fogerty. All my three sons used it through school. Bit of wear and tear but that's OK. It was all earned. Ashton Steptoe is right. These things are not going to be "affordable" forever.

Hi. To my ears it doesn't really sound like a Les Paul. Rather it sounds more like a Telecaster - maybe it's due to the amp? In any case, it sounds nice. Great video - though you should have a fourth Johan hitting power chords? :)

The guitar is somehow beautiful and ugly at the same time.

I've got the falcon with EMG 85/81
Sustains for weeks, I'm going to replace them with epiphone zebra pro buckers, as I gave the originals away 30 years ago, that's a falcon not a hawk you have there, the hawk only had one skunk stripe and didn't have the brass ring markers , they come from the wing series which comprised of the raven the hawk the falcon and the eagle, I bought mine brand new in 1979 from freedman's or Leyton stone high road when I was 19 it cost a months wages , I sold it in 1987 and just got it back last month!!

That was my first electric guitar, one exactly like that, bought brand new at DM in Fruängen. But my band mates 70s Gibson Les Paul was superior in exactly every way, even I thought that and loved to play his guitar. But, cool guitar nevertheless and I regret deeply selling it in 1982 or so for a Fender Stratocaster. The Stratocaster did sound way better though in my opinion.

First sound is like a guitar sound fellow Swedes The Hives have used before.
