Fantastic video as always, Mark! Love to see the added features of our TüN 4 Software and MAX Measurement System and how they can make the biggest difference to an audio system. Looking forward to the next one!
Hey JL, iSee that on that page, when i pressed on download, the first box asks what our OS is, Mac blah blah or Windows 8-10. I just recently updated my laptop to Windows 11. Is it gonna work with Windows 11? Thanks a bunch for making that software free to all, regardless. Aloha!

My first sub was a JL W7 as well! Sophmore in high school and I had a 91 Honda prelude and worked 2 jobs to be able to put a killer system in my car . Along with the W7 I also had JL back deck and front door speakers And that was a game changer for Me! Oh, and my head unit was a Pioneer Premier OLED with the moving graphics. I miss those days!

Love this channel, learning so much with different fine tuning and what not to do on building my own set up. Love JL Audio as it’s what I have 12w6 600/1 amp and 300/4 but need components. Was looking at focal or morale components up front.

Hey Mark, love the channel and have been a JL fan since the mid 90s when I had a trio of original 12W6s in a custom 3.9 ft³ sealed trapezoidal enclosure made with 1" HDF that I made myself from the spec sheet. I see that you're more into the sound quality and artistic style of car audio. Are you familiar with servo controlled open baffle subwoofers? There is a little company called GR Research, they also happen to have a sweet little TH-cam channel, that makes these sub kits with flat pack HDF panels made on a CNC router...you should just build your own though, because you're a beast. The owner of GR is the most knowledgeable man I've ever seen about speakers. He also "fixes" common high end off the shelf speakers by fixing the crossovers and eliminating ferromagnetic materials from the signal path. He does all his work scientifically using testing equipment similar to what the Max system is, so it's very objective. This guy is so good, that he can accurately draw a given speakers frequency response from 20-20k just from listening to a two second sine wave sweep. He said he has tested more than ten thousand speakers. They sell some phenomenal kits for DIY home audio...and everything is VERY reasonable priced...which is awesome, considering they are competing with cost-no-option gear. He also sells naked drivers, naked servo subwoofers, designs custom crossovers, and claims to have the best listening room in the country. He has an open invitation to come down and check it out in person. I saw your home theater setup and caught that you were thinking about doing some DIY home stuffs. These are something I came across from the audiophile world. Those guys are NUTS. I also discovered that you do not want any magnetic material in the signal path. It makes a huge difference. He uses these speaker terminal connectors called tube connectors...he said they are the best signal transfer possible, and you can even hear and see the difference in a properly tuned system....that's pretty impressive to get that level of sound quality where you CAN HEAR A BINDING POST!!! Lol. This is a crazy sport...that goes WAY *WAY* down the rabbit hole.
So many questions. JL recommends up to 175w RMS for the C7-650cw but they’re running 300w to each? I have these speakers installed running 75w to each and they are extremely hifi and detailed but I’m noticing the midbass at this wattage is underwhelming. Maybe I need to rethink my power? I’m currently running VXI700/5 active with 75w to each c7 tweeter and c7 6.5 and 300w to the stealthbox.
@@gabrielgalaxygh I realized after I posted that I was wrong. They’re running the 6.5” at 180w each at 4 ohms which is just 5w above the recommended wattage. The C7’s put out such beautiful fidelity. It’s crazy.
I'm building a back-to-back folded twin horn enclosure in a center console between the backs of the bucket seats in a 2 seat Chevy PU. I have chosen 2 sizes of subs, either a pair of Wavecor 4.5" in combination with the Tang Band 5.25" or the TB 5.25" in combo with a Dayton 6.5" (1ea on either side). This is probably hard to visualize, just see it as 2 enclosures in the same box with the drivers and ports all facing outboard with the port at the lowest and widest part of the taper. In all there would be 4 drivers (2 on each side). Question: Will the different size subs work well together?

No mention of how long it took to do the custom build and the approximate cost with custom work. I have thought of buying a car with the system in mind and do up the whole thing for sound quality. I would want a manufacturer level custom quality build. Local shops do not tend to have the skill level for that at all they just build the boom, boom vehicles with basic stuff.

If you want to hear what it sounds like the ONLY way to do that is visit a show and hear it in person 👍
Well, if you’re a) into this sort of thing either professionally or DIY and b) looking to spend something on that order on an install… I would really suggest getting a CNC machining center and learning how to use it. Basic machines suitable for this kind of work, along with basic tooling, can be had ready-to-go for around $7.5k. Double that price and you can get a really nice setup for doing this sort of work on a one-off basis (mass-production ready machines will of course be much more $$$; but for custom work you just don’t really need that level of capability). There are lower cost options as well, but they take more fiddling with to get good results. If you are willing to use softer materials (wood, plastic) entry-level CNC routers and large-format 3D printers are a low-cost option as well; and if you are willing to DIY the machine build as well, you can get a lot of capability for not much $$$ (what you end up spending doing that is your time and effort). 🤔
You can't make a true evaluation of a speaker system over video as you are only hearing the sound your phone or whatever you are watching on sounds like. I've had people in the past say "it sounds like there's no bass". Yeah... because you are watching on a phone that doesn't have a subwoofer.
