Avi's bass actually did take out the venue's speakers and just left the speakers that Pentatonix brought.
Mitch is certainly the well deserved star but you've gotta give props to Avi for that speaker-busting bass!

i love that one! Technically his highest note is in their cover of Praying by Kesha where he hits an A5. But the Defying Gravity one is insane too, especially since he did the option up!
...This is an A5, too. Which is the highest Mitch has ever gone for Pentatonix. Defying Gravity is also lower... the only thing higher is a Bb5 in the background on Deny U.

Mitch was absolutely on fire that night! When he crawled on his knees to the front of the stage, I'd bet that half the front row peed themselves... 🤣
One thing I always notice is that everyone is so blown away by those epic high notes they forget the beautiful little run he does right before that. He was spot-on perfect in that performance.

I read on another Video that Mitch was actually jet-lagged and drank 2 Red-Bulls back-to-back dueing a break. And when they kicked in he just went crazy

Everyone is blown away by this. Mitch was jetlagged and on several red bulls apparently! The studio version of this cover is good but this live version is out of this world particularly for Avi and Mitch but the others back them up perfectly too. Avi did blow the speakers with this one (quite a common occurrence!).
PTX has an official video of their cover of Imogene Heap's "Aha!," but it isn't nearly as dynamic as this live performance. Congrats on recognizing that Avi is destroying his speakers after that remarkable low note. What isn't as obvious is our usually shy Mitch, high on Red Bulls, going completely drama queen. This is way out of character for him, but the audience is loving it. It's Pentatonix unleashed! Not great audio quality or visual technique, so you need to be familiar with the talent you are witnessing to grasp the significance of the shredding sound system and Mitch crawling on the stage. Oh, to have been there! This is an historic PTX moment. So great that you appreciate why it is treasured by Pentaholics. 🙂
Great reaction! A couple things about this. During the prior song, Kevin was sitting center stage playing cello and beatboxing. They added the choral piece to give him a chance to put away his cello. You can see the large space between Kirstie and Mitch. During Avi's solo, Mitch moved closer to Kirstie, Scott followed him and Kevin came back onstage next to Scott. So he was there for all of Aha!, Too bad the person recording this was so focused on Mitch, because it feels weird not to see all of them, and without all of Kevin's crazy beats and whooshes and rattles, this would not be nearly as epic!

I agree! I first watched the official video of this and didn't really appreciate it until someone pointed out that Avi was doing the overtones on it. This video you can't really hear it, but it's very apparent in the official video. Just be sure you watch clear to the end of the video for the surprise ending.

I also love seeing Mitch bring attitude to the stage! I highly recommend reacting to some of Mitch's solo stuff under the name Messer. His first song Machine is a good one to start with. The music videos for those are full of attitude and much more avant garde.
The official video while not quite as Mitch central is stunning as you can really hear the intricacies of everyone's part. Both are amazing in their own right.

Oooohhhh!! I saw the notification and I was like " Well, at least I know he survived it!" We do warn new reactors not to watch this one too soon, because it WILL short circut your brain. And how Avi damaged the sound system of a venue this size with that first low note? Because the bass is fuzzy for the remainder of the song. You can really tell it when Mitch drops down to his knees and everythings gets all wierd sounding. Avi's vocal ability is just astonishing. Mitch is of course the main focus of the video, but Avi man..... What he does is just as awesome. And Mitch calmly playing with his hair like he isn't even trying! Outstanding!
That's my favourite part of Mitch's amazing vocal control. It's VERY rare that you can tell he's putting effort in. Everything looks like a casual sing along as he's slapping everyone down with the notes, lol.
Imogen Heap’s original version of this is just terrific! I first got to know it when it was used in a dance routine on So You Think You Can Dance (you can find it on YT), and tracked down the album it was on at the library to listen to more of her work. A year or so later was when PTX covered it on their first EP, and I geeked out over them improving on an already fantastic song.
Mitch has unbeliveable vocal control. To a level where the rest of the group always comment on it. All of them have control on the top of singers game, but Mitch is even a level above that with the skill. Matt said he sometimes stops to laugh on stage because mitch is so consistent. "its not human" he said. Im not even one of the biggest mitch stans but anyone who cannot acknowledge this is lying to themselves. And he makes it look so easy. Just fiddling around with his hair!

Yes! You can get her playlist. I watched all of them because I figured if they were this hot that night on this song they must have been for the rest of the concert as well. And I was not disappointed!

Because there are people who are seeing the videos you are reacting to for the very first time, just as you are, I hope that you will consider stopping the video whenever you have anything to say and then rewind it back 10 seconds before starting it up again. When you talk over the singing, you miss some really amazing moments. It also means that first time listener is also missing those same moments because they're trying to listen to you. There’s a video of them doing this song live during a stream, it’s great because you really get to see clearly what everyone is doing throughout the song. This performance is hard to beat but the sound is a bit wonky (thanks, Avi) and it’s just focused in on Mitch.
The official video of this is pretty cool too, make sure you watch all the way to the end though. Great reaction.
Honestly, a reactor zoning out and forgetting that they are reacting is the BEST reaction!!! I love it when a reactor just stares with their jaw dropped to the floor while listening to this group. I think it's the best compliment you can give them!
Mitchy came out of womb with high notes. I have watched Aha so many times and I'm always amazed.
I was SOOOOO excited to see that you had finally reacted to this one. This isn't a Mitch-slap, this one is BEYOND a Mitch-slap. This is a Mitch-PUNCH. And it is glorious. The story is that Mitch was REALLY jet-lagged, so he drank three Red Bulls before going on stage. And this legendary performance was the result.
You HAVE to react to their 'Daft Punk'. It's... Well, it got them the first grammy ever given to an Acapella group. I'd also really like you to react to 'Sing', it's an original song of theirs and a favorite of mine. As for new artists, Pentatonix did a collaboration with Lindsey Stirling - Imagin Dragon's ''Radioactive'. You really need to check that out, it's amazing. Hopefully, you'll like it enough to check out some of Lindsey's stuff, because I really think you'll love it. She did a song called 'Shatter Me' with Lzzy Hale from Halestorm. Based on what you've liked to date, you'll adore that.

Okay, so I watch a lot of different reactors, because I wander around TH-cam looking for people reacting my favorite artists. I have a rule that if I go back to check out a reactor's channel more than twice, I subscribe. Well, I actually subscribed to you from the first one I saw, which is unusual. Watching you react feels like hanging out with a friend. I know that that might sound odd, but there's something about how you do your reactions that honestly feels less like I'm watching a TH-cam channel and more like I'm just chilling on the couch with someone I"ve known for ages. I'm honestly convinced that we would be friends. lol. More than that, you have knowledge of music and you share that without pretense. Rather than getting a lecture, it's more like a friend saying 'hey, did you know...?'. I don't mind the reactors who give you a full lecture, I actually like them quite a bit. You survived! Great reaction! They do have an official video for this song, but the Singapore Live version is everyone's favorite, even tho the video and sound quality isn't perfect. Long before the official video, or this concert tour, they did release a livestream version (apartment living room from the couch) where you actually get to see and hear Kevin and Avi, too! You don't haven't to react to it, but to actually see and hear what each one is singing is just *WOW* ! For fun!

Ohh...we have more astounding Mitch slapping for you yet!! Defying Gravity from the Broadway play Wicked is another astounding Mitch showcase and so is his cover of Your Power ( Billie Eilish cover). If you want to check out Defying Gravity, I suggest doing a little googling of the play beforehand so that you grok what the play and the song is about. I've seen a few reactors becoming frustrated because they had no clue what was going on and who the characters were.
yeah Defying Gravity by Superfruit (Mitch and Scott) he hits a high G which is a step higher than the normal high note for the song which is a high F. On this one they had just landed after a long flight and Mitch chugged 2 red bulls and had a buzz lol

You should try some more of their originals. Be My Eyes, Sing, Run To You, Love Me When I Don't, Coffee In Bed and especially the 2016 Popspring concert which has 3 good originals (the last one, Water, is absolutely beautiful) and The Evolution Of Michael Jackson.

Great reaction! I never get sick of real reactions to this performance, which was so extra special. The official video of this song is much tamer. Mitch Said something I can't remember verbatim, but it was along the lines of that singing this live in concert night after night, he evolved the way he performed it. I should say performs it, since this is still a go-to song on their set lists.

Mitch is inhuman. Avi defies nature. 2 less frequent videos are Natural Disaster with crazy bass line and Hey Mama/Hit the Road Jack when Avi blows the sound system live.
The story is that Mitch was jet lagged so he'd drunk two Red Bulls shortly bofore to compensate; arguably Mitch should *never* drink more than one Red Bull at a time. So the sugar and caffeine kicked in at the very beginning of this solo, and he goes totally hyperactive in his high range.
This was a fan video, and you're right about how well done it was. The sound quality isn't the fault of the fan or the phone the fan used; it's accurate. You can blame Avi for the sound quality; he was systematically destroying the Star Vista's speakers. The one thing the fan *didn't* catch was Kevin; most reactors are like "Wait! Where is Kevin?!" The answer is that Kevin was there, just not at the beginning of the video when the fan showed the entire stage.
Kevin had just done a cello demonstration, so he needed to put Beyoncé (his cello) back in her case. At the beginning, where they're singing that classical stuff, they're filling up time until Kevin can get back. When Avi sees Kevin coming, he starts singing the low notes, his part in "Aha!," and the camera is focused on him for a bit (as it should be). Then he goes *really* low and the first speaer blows out; the Red Bulls cut in and Mitch starts his solo; and the camera switches to Mitch. But Mitch isn't in the same place he was earlier - he's moved closer to Kirstin, and Scott is closer to Mitch, because at the same time as Avi began singing his part of "Aha!" Mitch and Scott had moved over to make room for Kevin.

I just found this video, so I haven't seen what youve reacted to previously other than what you mention here at only 6.5 minutes in, but have you reacted to their cover of Video Killed the Radio Star they did for the tv acapella contest they won? That one, Daft Punk and Dance of the Sugar Plum fairy always wow me
Actually, Imogene Heap, is great on this song and PTX is very close to her original. One of the covers that I actually really enjoyed finding the original after first hearing the song from PTX.
Mitch is his Red Bull fueled awesome self but Scott and Kirstin doing all the syncopated background parts, with Kevin just going off, is hard to do in a studio environment where you can do it over and adjust things electronically in mixing. The difficulty of doing this live is about a 20 on a scale of 1 to 10. Crowd noise, sound delays (just a fact with sound traveling through cords and wi-fi) the adrenaline of being in front of a crowd, and anything else that can happen live, this is a whole other level talent and discipline. If any of them get off track or off beat doing this song it could turn into a train wreck in a hurry. I don't think there are too many people, outside of these special five, that could do this and do it that well.

The problem with the video is Avi’s blown speaker. The song really needs that bass balance going back and forth, almost like a battle between Mitch and Avi. With that said, what a damn awesome video, I love watching reactors do this song.
Their performance of this song at the Hollywood Bowl and doesn’t have the pitch issues in this performance.

You should check out the official video of this song so that you can clearly hear the awesome and intricate bass part. This phone recording just can't capture it. Also you can clearly hear everyone else as well. It's really quite the arrangement.

Interestingly, their studio version of Aha! is a little different - not as epic, it's still good though, and the vid cracks me up everytime - it was done for Halloween. He absolutely went off here, partly due to the 2 redbulls & coffee he'd had before the show. I'm glad you waited to be at a point you could appreciate it fully. I believe Avi wrecked the speakers during this show. Not the first or last time, it's usually more sudden though rather than gradual like it seemed here.

This one is right up there with "Bohemian Rhapsody" for Mitch slaps, but my favorite part is the way the sound system goes progressively downhill during Mitch's solo, because Avi is still singing low notes into his microphone, and speaker after speaker is blowing out.
