The difficulty of doing this live is about a 20 on a scale of 1 to 10. Crowd noise, sound delays (just a fact with sound traveling through cords and wi-fi) the adrenaline of being in front of a crowd, and anything else that can happen live, this is a whole other level talent and discipline. If any of them get off track or off beat doing this song it could turn into a train wreck in a hurry. I don't think there are too many people, outside of these special five, that could do this and do it that well.

When they were in Australia (Adelaide , I think) Mitch had an infection but performed sitting off to his right on the stage. Yup...these guys are so dedicated to performing, so matter that they feel ill or have broken ankles ( like Kirstie did in 2018).

The play is the Wizard of Oz told from the perspective of the witches. In this song one witch Elphaba (strange name I know) is arguing with Glenda about learning how to be the first witch to fly on a broom. (the name Defying Gravity makes sense now). Oh, dear. I should have warned you to watch the official video first; "Aha!" is a VERY strange song and the official video at least makes it make sense. However, for now, just enjoy this and don't worry what the h--- it's about. Kevin is off-stage at the beginning of the video because he's putting his cello away; he'd just been doing a celloboxing demo. It was when Avi saw him coming back that the song actually started, so even though you don't see Kevin, he's there. Note the poor sound quality. That isn't because this was recorded on a fan's phone; it's because Avi's low notes were systematically destroying the speakers. As for Mitch, he was jet-lagged, so just before they went on he drank two Red Bulls to compensate, and the caffeine and sugar seem to have cut in right at the beginning of this song. Arguably, Mitch should NEVER have more than one Red Bull at a time.

Actually, it was the phone distorting Avi's bass. I've heard another recording from this same concert, and this was a large arena and the speakers worked fine. Check out "Shaun Chew First of June". The concert starts at about 6:15. At 9 minutes, Kevin is playing cello for Papaoutai (not a demo). At 9:45, Avi hits his low notes, they start Aha!, and you actually see Kevin come on stage!!! I'm not sure why, but it was so good to see that, even if Shaun cut it off a few seconds later. One other treat from that video is a partial recording of Avi singing Standing By at 12:15, and Shaun scans the whole arena, showing all the fans holding up lights. It's really beautiful.

I stumbled upon a different concert Aha video WITH MUCH BETTER RECORDING~~~~Found it under: ptx concert aha 4 5 seconds. That video doesn't focus solely on Mitch the entire time. Lighting is better. Sound is better. It was recorded at a concert in CT. PLEASE, PLEASE TAKE A LOOK AT IT. (It has another song included, 45 Seconds.) BTW I loved your reaction!! You can really understand the words better. Granted Mitch wasn't quite as insane in as he was in Singapore. :) I understand Mitch had arrived separately and barely jumped on stage from an overnight flight to Singapore . During the opening choral number (brought to them by Avi), you can see a large space between Mitch and Kirstie. Kevin was sitting there with his cello during the prior number, and had gone offstage to put it away. When Avi does his really low bass solo, Mitch moved to center stage, Scott followed him, and Kevin came back onstage next to Scott. Unfortunately, the person recording this never again showed the whole stage, so we can't see Kevin, but we can certainly hear him! Great reaction!
