No other singer comes even close to such a sublime sincere musicianship as Anne-Sofie's in this song.

I recently hit your amazing world of your song, voice. Your voice control is perfect but your interpretation of songs are amazing. You must be a poet.

Okay. So I read all the comments. And I am a massive Anna Sofie fan.
I have not heard the Elvis Costello version of this song until today. All these 'comparisons' piqued my interest and I had a listen...and you are right. Anna Sofie does it beautifully but Elvis does it brilliantly. We all love Anna but do yourself a favour and listen to the Elvis Costello version... It's his song. For sure.
Nontheless I loved this rendition .

Different takes but both exceptional. You probably know that Costello wrote a whole album of songs with Bacharach, of which this is one. Great album, all of it. And yes, Costello's version of this song is beautiful.

How to ruin any music, send a trained opera singer. They in general sings popular music on a lower level than a home made karaoke artist. Only on the opera world you can get away with such mediocrity.

At 2'05" the lyric should be "Were you really so unhappy there
    You never said".

sorry but it doesn't work, her voice is pretty but she's not selling the song, it doens't sound right, it belongs to E Costello, he was seperating from his wife at the time and it was personal and his emotion was real and intense, she's just singing it and her voice is fine but its just not working for me, its not her song.

Agree. Sounds artificial and stuck-up. None of the emotion of Costello's. I would love to hear someone like Robert Cray perform it. Would be great with his guitar, too.

Nice sounding voice but she does NOT adhere to the rhythm of the melody...Burt must be in agony sitting there.....what a shame

I just think I took a huge load of bullcrap on my head while reading your comment, I don't know why...
Judging from his face at 2:30, that's clearly not the case. I'm sure he must be happy to hear it like that, a bit different than the original. And even then, it's clear that the musicians are perfectly in sync with her voice and the slight rythm slowings, even the piano accompaniment does it.
A shame you aren't capable of seeing and hearing that, from the sound as well as the video footage. But yea, if that's your opinion then stick to it, stick to the old stones ;)

@@jsphotos yeah he does, it not her song, it doens't sound right, its E Costello's song and he's the only one to sing it and do it real justice because it was personal to him because it was about him and his wife so sorry but as nice as this ladies voice is, she's not the right person to sing it.
