When did you and your friend "split" on the PCT and why? Did you start it together and wanted to finish it together?
We split right about at the half way point, in Chester, CA. I got into town early and had a quick resupply, and hopped back out on trail. He got in a little later, and the forecast called for some stormy days, so he double zeroed I think.
We planned everything out ahead of time: what happens if someone gets injured, how long we were going to definitely hike together etc. We decided we’d definitely hike all of Washington, and anything extra was a bonus, that we could move at whatever pace we wanted. This communication and freedom to do what we wanted, made for a really positive experience.
As a matter of fact, we have some huge hiking plans this year too!
@@MeowHikes There is no other way other than hiking "alone" on such a distance. A thru hike just doesn't scale. I once calculated that if you are just 0.1 mph slower/faster in the same hours hiked at the end it's a difference of 4-7 days at the end, depending on the speed.
So it's also not healthy to not Hike your own hike.
My freaking dude, great work. Thanks for using so much of my music in all your videos!!
Your stuff slaps thanks for making it
I love when you hear about a “dangerous” section for over a hundred miles and then you get there and it’s nothing.
Every. Single. Time.
Fantastic job sharing your journey, thank you from Nova Scotia Canada, stay safe and FREE.
Heading SoBo this year! Loved the vids!
This was such a great series. Solidified my plan of hiking the PCT SOBO hopefully 2024.
Just rewatched the series and was genuinely impressed in how well these episodes have held up. I'm now seriously planning a SOBO hike next summer because of these videos, no joke.
I've really enjoyed this series, you did a really awesome job on the edits they were really fun, the vibe of the music was a really nice touch aswell.
Seen a lot, a lot! Of videos on this trail got my southbound permit and checked you out and your technique and talent are next level but your personality and your spirit are truly inspiring. It’s like when Richard Dreyfuss in Close encounters of the third kind got on the spaceship, he was invited, you and a ribbon of dirt were invited so it is written and so it shall be done. Yeah…that was cool.
Your videos are way better quality than any of mine. Thanks for the videos!
It has been an absolute privilege following along with these videos. Each episode was so good, you did a great job capturing the experience. Super stoked to see what more you do, Meow Meow!!
so cool to share that moment with your family
Yeah boyyyyyy

Well done man, these are some great videos to have to look back on and a great resource for any future sobo hiker
Congratulations! Great production all the way around.
Outstanding series. Thanks for posting. It really is amazing.
I know you’ve been done for a while, but congrats Jon! What an accomplishment, and done with style and grace. It’s been a pleasure following along. Cant wait for your next adventure. Mayhaps I’ll see you out there this summer. Well done sir
DID IT! Awesome videos and editing
Thanks alot from putting these videos together, really enjoyed watching them all.
Amazing dude! What a journey 🤙 sorry I missed the premier, stuck at work. Such a great series of videos and memories captured forever 💯
No sweat buddy, thanks for watching!
Congrats man!! That was an awesome adventure thanks for bringing us along.
I thoroughly enjoyed these videos! Definitely kept me engaged. Very insightful. And the humor through it all is just fricken amazing lol Love the energy you all put out there. Please make more! 🙃
This is 🔥
great series!
First off, this was absolutely amazing! I leave for my sobo hike in a few weeks and this had so much that I could learn from. Question for you though, did your buddy ever finish?
Yes he did, Thanksgiving week
Niiiiice
Another awesome edit. Nice job!
🖖
I imagine the hardest part of a thruhike is the ending. A bitter sweet moment. How do you deal with having to return to what humans think is the normal way to live? I think that’s going to be where I suffer most after my thruhike.
I’m literally crying watching you reach the end.
@@elhammer6000 myself and a few others did as well. I appreciate you watching, I have many more adventures to come, and share
I am hiking the PCT in 2024 (15 months) would you recommend a Sobo?
Yes and no, really depends on the year and conditions of the year. For example, last year my friends went sobo and Washington was a high snow year, and a bad year for fires. Lots of people hiked unconventional hikes so they didn’t have much trail community and ended real late in the year, dealing with lots of snow. The year I hiked, was quite literally a perfect year.
Given perfect conditions, I would choose sobo over nobo.
