The new Tenacious with CPM M4 steel is really good. The build quality is really good and CPM M4 is a awesome tool steel. I'm not the biggest Spyderco fan, but the Tenacious is a great EDC user.

I don't have any spyderco knives in my knife collection. But i am thinking about buying a spyderco native 5 Lockback pocket knife. With S30V stainless steel. For $150.00 Dollars. At sportsman's Warehouse. I think that sporting good stores way over charge for pocket knives. Like bass pro shops and sportsman's Warehouse.

Sporting goods stores do charge high. The benefit is that you get to handle the product before you buy it, though.
I'm sure you'll enjoy the Native 5 if you get it!👍

    MODEL BLADE
Persistence 2-3/4in you missed this one in the series
    Tenacious 3-3/8in
    Resilience 4-1/4in
budget knives with FRN handles & 8Cr13MoV
I got the Resilience Lightweight a while ago for around $60, now nearing $100
    it's my EDC
    but...
I've had my Resilience accidentally open... OUCH!

I hope you didn't get cut too bad!
I mentioned the Persistence at 6:05 and the Ambitious, with a 2-1/4 in blade, later on. Hard to keep track of all of them! Lots of versions of these knives, multiple steels and handle materials. Pretty versatile little series 😂

I have a couple from the series. It is a great knife, but the ergos just don’t measure up to the para 3 or even ckrt Pilar 3.

I can't believe I haven't reviewed the Pilar 3! We might have to fix that this year😂

I have both, the PM2 and the Tenacious, but I almost always take my Tenacious. Perhaps to spare the PM2, but almost certainly also because they both have the same capabilities, and why would I use a knife that is more than four times as expensive for any job?

    • @gideonsstuff
      @gideonsstuff  6 หลายเดือนก่อน

Exactly! I think Spyderco themselves makes the most compelling budget competition to the PM2😂

"Let's talk about the elk in the room..." I love that! And it definitely fits too - in fact, Spiderco is about to raise their prices again. I guess they can continue to do that as long as people will pay them whatever they want. That's how capitalism works... Plus, they really do make some outstanding knives. But they are rapidly getting out of reach for me.
I had almost forgotten about the "my 2 cents" videos - I hope you do more of them!

I've been wanting to review more USA-made knives on the channel, like Spyderco and Benchmade. But these prices are ridiculous! I remember when the Bugout was $120 and the standard PM2 was around $150. But hopefully I'll review one or two this year. That's my goal at least😂

Dude they spyderco/benchmade/ insert overpriced brand here has priced themselves so far out of thier core market that I'm forced to buy brands that copy and even sometimes counterfeit. I used to feel guilty but not anymore because at this point it's price gouging and scamming people. Chinese brands deliver so much for less than $30 sometimes even $20. the persistence line would need to drop at least $35 off asking price on all models to be even considered competitive.

I 100% agree that these companies are becoming unattainable for most folks. However, I think there are plenty of great options for original budget knives without choosing counterfeits.
      Thanks for watching, man!👍
