Queens Public Library, Orange County Library and Monroe County Library all offer non-resident cards for people outside the US who want access to more English language books and audiobooks. I couldn't find any libraries in the UK or Ireland who offer non-resident cards.
100% agree with Stephen Pacey- I should have included that one!! I still haven’t read The Warlord Chronicles, but EVERYONE tells me to listen to them, so I definitely will!
Great video idea! Some more recommendations: Edoardo Ballerini is my favorite reader. (Caravaggio, Cinema Speculation are recommended) The Exorcist (read by author, is so good I re listen to it instead of watching the movie) Skavenslayer (William King, hilarious evil rat character voices are maybe my favorite performance ever) Homicide detective Joe Kenda narrates his own books and his deadpan delivery is pitch perfect. Light in August by Faulkner read by Will Patton is the only reading I would say is beautiful.
Man, Red Rising was one of the best audio I’ve heard in a long time.. great work.. I really enjoy the whoever did the Harry Potter series.. was good.. great video
I really got into Audio books this year, and normally I would read 50-100 books a year maybe, this year I will be around 300. As a busy adult, it has made it so much easier. As a child I could binge physical books like nothing else, now I am much busier, but love listening to books while working, cleaning, cooking and so on.
You could try immersion reading, where you follow along while you listen. I think this is usually recommended for books with a lot of names but some people like to do it whenever they are enjoying the audibook.
I knew you would pick Daisy Jones for full cast narration! I read the physical book years ago, but really want to listen to the audiobook. Ooh, I love that you listened to the soundtrack too. The show is phenomenal!
One of my favorite audio book narrations, because of his understated performance and really great voice is Billy Summers by Stephen King. I’m not much of an audio book person (would rather read the book myself), but this was really well done.
Outlander-Davina Porter does a phenomenal job!! It was so good I listened to the first 18 books in about six months. I 💯 agree about Shadow of the Wind. Fantastic audio.
@ You definitely need to stop right now, and listen to an audio sample. She does a phenomenal job with all the characters, especially Claire and Jamie. ❤️
The Bomber Mafia by Malcolm Gladwell is a great non-fiction audiobook that is done in the style of a podcast with interviews as well, read by the author with interviews of many historical figures speaking for themselves. Excellent for those history buffs that would like a great audiobook experience.
A few of my audio favorites: ‘Anne of Green Gables’ - specifically the version read by Rachel McAdams - fantastic! Also the version of ‘Pride and Prejudice’ read by Rosamund Pike. ‘Tom Lake’ - didn’t even really care for the story but freaking Meryl Streep narrates it!! Everything that woman touches turns to gold. I also really like Wil Wheaton’s narration in general - I thought he did a great job with ‘Ready Player One’
I loooooved Rosamund Pike’s reading of Pride and Prejudice. She did a wonderful job! I still need to read Tom Lake, but have you listened to Ann Patchett’s book The Dutch House? Tom Hanks narrates that one and brings it to life so nicely!
Don't mind me pulling up Everand hehehe love it!! Hard agree with Threadlight, Red Rising and I'm Thinking of Ending Things. Some of my personal favourites are Thank You for Listening by Julia Whelan, The House in the Cerulean Sea by TJ Klune, The Hunters by David Wragg, The Wickwire Watch by Jacquelyn Hagen, Gideon the Ninth by Tamsyn Muir and A Chorus of Dragons by Jenn Lyons!
Project Hail Mary is on my 2025 TBR. :) I enjoyed the first DCC book, but have not continued on yet. I did mention them to my husband though, he rarely reads and prefers watchinf TV/movies, and he read all 6 ebooks in a week while he was off work. 🤣
Project Hail Mary and Red Rising are top of my list too! Here are some other favorite audiobooks you might enjoy: Endurance: Shackleton's Incredible Voyage: This non-fiction tale of survival is narrated brilliantly. I highly recommend going in blind for the full experience. It's hard to believe it's a true story as you listen to the incredible feats of human endurance. Dark Matter: The AppleTV show is great, but the audiobook is a fantastic way to experience this sci-fi thriller. It features compelling characters and a mind-bending premise. Born a Crime: Trevor Noah narrates his own life story, and it's a rollercoaster of emotions-funny, sad, and inspiring. His narration adds a personal touch that makes it even more engaging. An Astronaut's Guide to Life on Earth: Chris Hadfield narrates his own biography, sharing his unique perspective on life. His insights are both fascinating and motivational, offering lessons that can help anyone improve their approach to life.
I would have to agree with 99% of these recommendations for audio. I have to disagree about Locke Lamora. I couldn't get into the audio but I loved the physical read
Good example of a bad audio book read by the author: I listened to Fahrenheit 451 read by Ray Bradbury… great author! Not so great audiobook reader. Skip it.
First time viewer here 👋 I specifically was waiting to see if you mentioned The Dresden Files before I followed, but your obvious passion and enthusiasm for your other recommendations would've gotten me to follow either way haha I'm definitely looking forward to checking out some of the books you suggested! Great video 😊👍
Hahaha thanks for subscribing! Dresden Files is a one of a kind listening experience! Any time I see someone physically reading them, I have the urge to ask them why they aren’t listening instead. 😂

Thank you for sharing!! I pinned your comment. I appreciate you! 😊
@ianthereader that's sweet! I appreciate you too! Thank you for putting in so much effort and work into creating and sharing your videos! 🤩
Immediatly putting a hold on Project Hail Mary! Just started reading a physical copy but am intrigued to hear what the audio special effect is 😊
Ahhh yay!! I’m sure it’s good physically too, but the audio is so incredible. 🎉
The Warlord Chronicles narrated by Jonathan Keeble & First Law narrated by Stephen Pacey are the GOATs to me!!
100% agree with Stephen Pacey- I should have included that one!! I still haven’t read The Warlord Chronicles, but EVERYONE tells me to listen to them, so I definitely will!
Great video idea! Some more recommendations:

I haven’t listened to any of these!! Thank you so much for the recommendations!!
TGR being on the top of the narrators list.. hell yes! 👌🏻
He is simply too good. 🫡
This was such a great video! Thank you for all the recommendations. The Threadlight trilogy sounds really interesting.
Thank you!! I hope you check out Threadlight and love it like I did!
Man, Red Rising was one of the best audio I’ve heard in a long time.. great work.. I really enjoy the whoever did the Harry Potter series.. was good.. great video
Yes, such a great experience!! And I agree with Harry Potter, both Jim Dale and Stephen Fry do an amazing job!

I can totally relate! My reading habits changed so much after I started listening to audiobooks. I went from 50ish a year to 150+!
Ha! I just bought Project Hail Mary in hardcover only to find out it's the best audio ever 😂 Great video!
You could try immersion reading, where you follow along while you listen. I think this is usually recommended for books with a lot of names but some people like to do it whenever they are enjoying the audibook.
I did the same thing! I agree with @spongem8118 on the immersion reading!
Dungeon Crawler is on my TBR.
100% agree with you on Project Hail Mary.
Ahhh hope you love DCC!
I knew you would pick Daisy Jones for full cast narration! I read the physical book years ago, but really want to listen to the audiobook. Ooh, I love that you listened to the soundtrack too. The show is phenomenal!
I really need to get to the show. Hopefully soon!!
These are some great pics.

I listened to that one on audio too! Can’t remember who read it, but they did well!
I agree with so many picks of yours! Including Sleeping Giants!!! 👀
Notice, I said it’s a good AUDIOBOOK. But did I actually like the book…..?
@@ianthereader ughhhhhhhh….
Commenting before watching and PHM better be on here
You think I’m some sorta amateur?
Outlander-Davina Porter does a phenomenal job!! It was so good I listened to the first 18 books in about six months.
I 💯 agree about Shadow of the Wind. Fantastic audio.
I have wanted to try Outlander for a long time. Glad to hear the audio is a good way to do it!

@ yes, I listened to that one too! Hanks did great! Idk how this author gets all the most famous actors to narrate but it’s pretty awesome
I need to do my own version of this video at some point as an avid audiobook reader too. 😊
Looking forward to DCC more now that its your #1
With Lies of Locke Lamora also on my list, you guys have a stacked set of buddy reads ahead for 2025!
Don't mind me pulling up Everand hehehe love it!! Hard agree with Threadlight, Red Rising and I'm Thinking of Ending Things.

I haven’t heard of a couple of these! I loved Dark Matter on audio and have been putting off Born A Crime until I get the audio!
I haven't read Dresden Files, but I listen to him narrate Macbeth in October, now I just imagining Macbeth being narrated by a Wizard Detective. 😂
The best way to imagine Macbeth. 😂😂😂
I would have to agree with 99% of these recommendations for audio. I have to disagree about Locke Lamora. I couldn't get into the audio but I loved the physical read
Fascinating!! I loved Michael Page’s performance in Locke Lamora. Glad you loved the book overall, though!
@@ianthereader Fun fact! I bought Sleeping Giants based on your recommendation and I bought the wrong book. The one I got is by Rene Denfeld....
@ 😂😂😂 Honestly, still a win. The Rene Denfeld one is high on my TBR and I recently picked it up!
@@ianthereader Awesome! Glad to hear. It sounds good but not what I was expecting. I may get to it in January
Good example of a bad audio book read by the author: I listened to Fahrenheit 451 read by Ray Bradbury… great author! Not so great audiobook reader. Skip it.
I listened to an audio version not read by him and it wasn’t bad!
