  • Unfortunately HF no longer sells the 40 lb blaster, I linked a similar one below with an upgraded valve.

Five years of use for that machine? That sounds like good value! Looking at all the stuff you've blasted, I'm impressed with the effectiveness of this system.
These sandblasting videos are satisfying in themselves, but you must feel doubly so actually blasting your projects clean.
A nice thing about Arizona...to me anyway...was that things don't seem to rust instantly as they can here.
Geez...I can't believe it's SEMA time again. After COVID-19, it's a blessing to just sit an watch TH-cam videos of the whole spectacle. Have a safe trip there and back again! Aloha.

It proved itself very well!! Its so nice to see the clean slate left behind, we will get the rest done when were back from sema!

Hi Angel I saw this last night and when I tried to comment it wouldn’t let me. Sandblasters are actually pretty tough. I imagine if one didn’t rust out or get blown out somehow it would last a long time. Till you couldn’t get repair parts. Nice blasting job! Great explanation on everything. When blasting you always find every spot you missed getting suited up, cause you get sand there. Have a great day stay cool

Thansk for the mention, for anyone pulling the trigger on this unit, harbor freight has upgraded their units and the grey 110lbs unit now come with a deadman handheld valve vs the handheld ball valve wich still comes in the new grey 20lbs unit, you can also find the older blasters on marketplace for 50$ or even cheaper, defenatly worth the buy

You are not kidding about blasting media getting everywhere. I wear an Insulin pump and anytime I sand blast I take it off and put tape over the infusion set it connects to. I will never risk getting sand/inside either and causing problems or a malfunction. I have a project next summer after winter is over and I’ll be using my Craftsman gravity feed blaster , I have probably owned it for 30 years ( not used regularly )and it has its glitches too. Thanks for sharing 😊

I've had one these HF blasters for about 12 years. It gets the job done, although not without a few initial problems and minor improvements. As you mentioned, the blast nozzle is a pain, so I wound up replacing it with a Deadman. Also, I had to replace the moisture trap almost immediately with a quality unit from IR. The other recommendation is to make sure your compressor's line oiler is shut off or bypassed because that will mess up everything! An in-line water trap/filter-dryer off the compressor is also recommended but optional. And PPE is everything bc the media will find bodily cracks and crevices that you didn't even know you had!
I have used the little 40lb blaster with a few different media on about 20-25 cars and it does a nice job, but remember it's an HF tool that needs a little love every now and then. Shit wears out... But there's nothing quite like the Zen of watching the paint and rust magically vanish!

I went down the sandblasting rabbit hole. I used bagged sand from the hardware store. With that sifter you could just visit the local playground

It would be great to pull my engine and sand blast the engine bay and paint it this winter. You think I can do this in a garage, or does it need to be done outside?

Used a sandblaster at a company that reconditioned foundry nozzles.
I get home and I'm coughing up black sh*t.
