    Great review, I agree with you on the need for the twin point being active for arranging designs. They seem to have some quick software engineers so I bet we will see that soon. As well as I hope the ability to twin point circles and add multiple boxes as the same time.

      I totally agree with your comments! It seems like they could add that functionality pretty easily. I would also love to see them add an optional camera module.

      Thanks bud! I just watched yours, great job! I liked and left a comment! It was very frustrating that there is a two point box, yet you cannot interface with it to center your project. Like you mentioned, they are very quick with updating their software, so hopefully it will be implemented. I would be great to expand the 2 point like you mentioned for multiple boxes. If you make a jig, lining everything up will be a lot easier! Thanks for watching and commenting!

    Have to say your production value just went to another level 👍. Yours has to be one of the best reviews out there! Most just plotted themselves in front of a camera and rambled for 10+ minutes! Or just basically vlogged the video, pointing their cameras to their computer screens. You actually showed people how to use the new features, with results. I can tell you took your time in comparison to others. Well done! I love the Breaking Bad cutting board, and the pulled pork cedar plank 😂😂!

      Many thanks! I didn't want to comment until I watched some of the other reviews. I see your point, many felt rushed, and didn't provide much information, while others did! I do not know if that is their style or not. I did get the laser within a time period to make a video showing as much detail of the machine, without hopefully losing people during the process. If people reviewed the 40w laser by xTool, or any other brand, then they should have a good idea of the engraving and cutting parameters needed to get them going. Xtool has a material recommendation sheet on their website for the 40w. The only thing that took me a little while to figure out was the two positioning, and dynamic laser focusing, because the documentation wasn't all that clear. Otherwise the review wasn't that difficult. I mean besides all the nice safety features, the other highlights is what the probe can do. If that is how they do their videos, then that is how they do them. Yeah, I wanted to do some fun engravings for this one. I found the Breaking Bad file on Etsy, and said I have to use it! Thanks for watching and commenting.

    The probe looks great, will make it quick for flat material, and lets you do variable shapes like the bowl. Good review and thanks for pointing out the safety features

    I have just purchased the 40watt version, but looking at some of the reviews the engraving doesn’t seem that sharp. I wonder if 20 watt would be the ideal rating for sharpness or is it just because the reviewers are getting used to the power settings? Very professional review, thanks for taking the time to produce it.

    Thanks man, I really enjoyed your video and the way you explained everything. Thanks for not editing out the minor mistake with the bowl. That seems like something I would have done. I just ordered it about an hour ago. I ended up going with the all in one version so I wouldn't have to order all the separate stuff like I did with the 10w d1 pro.

      Many thanks for watching! It was a lot to unpack with this one, a lot to explain in around 20min without trying to go too fast! I make many mistakes, and the bowl was about $15. Live and learn from mistakes 😉. I wanted to try and hide my enthusiasm for this machine, but it was really hard. This is a laser I have been waiting for someone to produce. There is a learning curve for the workflow, but once you get it, it is so nice! I hope you enjoy the machine and glad you got the air assist and honeycomb for free! Thanks for watching and commenting 👍

    OK, that's a first that I've seen w/ position feedback when you manually move the laser head. 👍

      Yeah! I really like that idea! I bet it will be copied by others soon enough!

    UGHHH why did they not add a camera to the top for placement... thats what the world needs is an enclosed normal priced laser with a camera on the top for alignment.

    Think this will be a great laser for folks wanting to get into a safe quality unit. Thanks for a awesome video. I do hope they consider a more powerful head as future option too... or maybe a fiber head to do metals!

      Was happy to see XTool finally made a Class 1 enclosure, along with other safety features. Wondering how powerful they will go. I would also like to see something more powerful than a 2w 1064nm. Thanks for watching and commenting bud 👍

    Can this laser etch a steel sheet? like a steel poster? Thanks!

    Newbie here, my S1 comes in 2 days!!! My question is about acrylics and the diode laser. If painting on glass works for etching, will that not work for clear or transparent acrylics? If painting DOES work on clear and transparent acrylics, would the S1 also cut those acrylics? BTW, great review!

    • @TripodsGarage
      @TripodsGarage  ปีที่แล้ว

      I wouldn't recommend a 455nm\diode laser for clear acrylic. I haven't had much success with using an interface layer on clear acrylics. If you want to engrave and cut clear acrylic, CO2 laser is the best choice. Hope that answers your question? Thanks for the compliment!

      I bought a 36 pack of slate coaster blanks and a $10 pack of cork blanks. Will probably start with plywood first tho

      I’m even more excited to get started with this than I was with 3d printing. I’ve wanted a laser and cnc for years but could never get over the safety issues. This one ez venting to kitchen window should make that cake. Now I just need a hobbyist CNC to match :)

    Can it cut clear acrylics or still need c02 laser for that?

    • @TripodsGarage
      @TripodsGarage  ปีที่แล้ว

      Unfortunately it cannot cut clear acrylics. For clear acrylics you will still need a CO2.

    The green top scratches very easily. You have to buy add-ons to do a lot of things like the d1 pro. I'll pass on this one. Good review otherwise.
