It is rare finding someone who can truly sing one of Ed’s songs. Ed’s voice and touch are inimitable and most of the covers I hear are terrible. But Birdy... Birdy truly took it to another level. She reinterpreted the song, singing in a pure and, at the same moment, passionate way that no one but her could have afforded. I love this cover as much as the original.
It honestly seems too theatrical to me. She also keeps on repeating the same 📈📈📉📉📈📉📈📉 circle again and again, which makes it seem even more fake-dramatic.
By no means do I hate this or those who listen to this ❤️
But I just find Ed's version (which btw is one of my favourite songs) to be much better personally :D

The fact that our society is forever comparing others to see who is better is quite disgusting to me. How can you compare two absolutely sensational singers? Frankly no one cares about the other opinions, can we just appreciate both artists? This is coming from a person who idolises Ed and he is legitimately my favourite artist ever. The need to compare is unnecessary you can't compare them, they are incomparable, both do amazing jobs at singing the song so can we just leave it at that and not compare all of the bloody time.

You can stop with the preaching now. People will always compare other artists, no matter the medium, and will care about opinions, because each side is invested in either their own opinion or others'. The need to compare believe it or not is necessary, not exactly on a who did it better, though that will always be present regardless of your wishy-washy ideals, but because the singers are different and give the same song a different voice, emotion, and feel to it, of course people are going to compare it.
Comparison is nothing more than an observational technique. Get over it.

I love them both. Personally, I don't like the one that's on Ed's album as much as some live performances he's done- the live recordings are always more raw. I understand that he wants to make the song more upbeat the contrast with the lyrics, but I feel like it's such an emotional song it's hard to do it justice without it being slow. But I love his version and her version both.

Therefore his more upright stance, in contrast to Birdy's more ... closed in, lost way of singing. I have not seen Ed Sheeran's live performance, so I must ask opinion from someone else. Personally I find both beautiful (it's hard to not think this song beautiful, with such quality from each artist) - but that is hardly the matter of discussion

The first time I heard her is from this video. Gosh, I really love how she puts all her emotions playing and singing.
This reminds me of a certain Eva Cassidy singing Stings "Fields of gold" and doing it with a heavenly voice and adding a whole new dimension to it. Birdie does exactly the same here giving the song a whole new life. Eva would always make this man cry and Birdie gets me every time with this rendition.
