Alesis Q49 Keyboard Review - Playing & Recording Piano Riffs | Audio Mentor

  • Some people prefer Alesis. It's alright, but I think Alesis has bad product design: goo.gl/u3E9cJ
    I review the Alesis Q49 keyboard and recorded a short simple piano riff. I think the Alesis Q49 midi controller is great for beginners or pros who want to learn music or even produce serious music on your computer. Touch response on this keyboard a little more 'rigid' compared to others, but you may like it!

    I saw this keyboard on Ebay, and was tantalised by the traditional MIDI DIN output cause I want to hook it up to an arduino to do things, plus I wanna add extra controls.
    This review was super helpful :D I didn't know the keyboard had velocity control, that makes the deal on Ebay even better!
    Thank you for uploading this :D

    The first thing to do is to check if there are any midi signal going into Logic. Reset your midi inputs then play on your keyboard while looking at the transport bar. See if there are any midi data coming in.

    Hey there howcan I record this piano on my pc?
    On my stagepiano I record on the piano itself while playing and then transfer the recording afterwards to my pc. But it obviesly seems like this piano can't record on itself. So how should I connect this masterkeyboard to my computer and which software do I need to record it ? Also can I use headphones on this one? I hope you can help me :)

    Hey Rueben, I'm looking for a budget keyboard to start off with. Between the Korg MicroKey, M-Audio Keyrig 49 and this Q49, which one would you choose? Looking at the M-Audio and Q49 they're really long. I was wondering if the Korg might be better because of space limitation. It is also $30 cheaper.

    I use Presonus Studio One DAW with an Audiobox usb , and I have an Alesis Q49, with the right choice of which instrument I pick for the song I am doing the Alesis sounds quite nice, The keys can be hit hard or soft, just like a piano. Over all I enjoy my Alesis Q49 :) I think it all depends on the DAW that the person has to go along with the Q49 as well.

  • @reubenchng
    @reubenchng  11 ปีที่แล้ว

    yo. Really subjective. If you want something with 49 keys go for Samson Carbon or M-Audio. I like prefer them. If you do electronic music maybe you want something with 25 keys and with pads like the Samson Graphite 25

    Is there any perceivable delay on this device? I've heard some of the cheaper midi controllers will have delay issues sometimes - or perhaps that's just a software issue (asio vs windows audio etc)

    • @reubenchng
      @reubenchng  10 ปีที่แล้ว

      its usually your audio device, not the midi controller. My advice is to get a reliable audio interface

    you say that the keys are a bit tight... considering the budget, what keyboard would you recomend?

    I realise this is an old video now but I've literally just bought this and the keys are very stiff so I have a question
    I play jazz and need it to be really responsive and versatile. I hit the keys a bunch, gently but a lot to try and loosen them up. It worked on the white keys but not the black and it's like playing cement.
    Reuben after a long time playing it have the keys/springs become looser? If not I'm sending this back tomorrow ha maybe get another M-audio instead
