    Alesis 49 MKII is just the same than M-Audio Keystation 49 MKIII, the same product, just different software package.This is not a new controller in the market, but it's good enough.

    Thank you for an excellent review, just before reading this I had placed an order for the Nektar SE49 having seen rave reviews on it. So, I immediately cancelled it, I wanted one with a quality keyboard feel, as I play piano, and I need a portable piano to practice chords and scales when I work away from home. Well, I have decided to go for the best at double the price, now getting the Roland A49. Thanks for your advice, much appreciated

    I just bought the Carbon 49 because it has a 5 pin midi out which I need, it was on sale for $69.00 - can't beat that. I have a Roland PC-200 MK 2 with semi-weighted keys but there are about 8 keys that are dead after decades of owning it. I could probably fix it but I'd need to spend as much as I paid for the Carbon 49 so I decided not to as there was no guarantee I could fix it.

    Hi there; great video thanks! I'm looking for a 49-61 key MIDI controller for use on stage with my Yamaha piano (fully weighted keys); the controller would be connected to my piano and used for triggering hammond organ patches on the piano (slides etc aren't the greatest on my fully weighted keys) so I'm looking for something that is the closest to an "organ feel". I haven't been able to find any MIDI controllers with waterfall organ keys, but something with a decent action would be ok I think. So out of these the Alesis? Or do you know of a better solution for what I'm after?
    Thanks again!

    • @GospelMusic4Life
      @GospelMusic4Life ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I recently got the nektar gxp61. The key are a little noisy and the corners or the white keys could use some filing so to speak but it can switch patches on my Juno DS88 and actually feels great for playing organ. Not sure what’s available where you are but m-audio would be another brand that has waterfall keys. Other than the keybed noise I’m loving the gxp keybed feel. I had the Nektar panorama t6 which had a similar keybed but seemed to have more spring back when coming up. I did not like that spring back as much.

    • @islandtony5009
      @islandtony5009 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@GospelMusic4Life Cool thanks for all that; I don't think M-Audio has any boards with waterfall keys though; they're all either synth or piano style (unless there are some I haven't found yet)

    • @GospelMusic4Life
      @GospelMusic4Life ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@islandtony5009 Sorry I may be mixing up the waterfall and piano style keys. The ones on the gxp are piano style shape but it can do gliss pretty easy if I play it a certain way. Another option is to get a cheap used piano style and file edges although that’s a little extra work. I usually put 3-4 years insurance on my boards or just put them on my homeowners insurance policy. That way I don’t worry about things breaking.

    Great review, thank you very much!
    Such a shame though that both the Nektar and Alesis DON'T have a MIDI output (so technically, they aren't 'midi keyboards' at all). For the digital producer this might not matter and the OS probably will display it as 'MIDI device', but traditionally MIDI is the 5-pin connection to interface with other hardware. So it's not possible to play hardware synths or sequencers without going through the computer, which introduces latency and eliminates mobility unless you're carrying a laptop around. It's especially sad because almost all other 49-keys-keyboards WITH midi are like twice the size so take up a lot of desk space... the space which you'd rather like to use for the other hardware you're connecting it to... So st*pid...
