Dude I cannot stress enough how much this video is helping me today. I’m replacing my gaskets, and I’m trying to have my car ready for my birthday dinner tonight
I’d recommend a good cleaning around the valve cover before removing so you don’t have crud falling into your engine. Also, adding the rtv to the cleaned metal surface the gasket sits on, so you’re not wiping it off on other parts in the engine while trying to install the cover. Helpful video nonetheless, thanks!
I'll bet this video helped a lot of people. I have a 2005 i4 with 105k miles that has this exact valve cover leak. The thing is, I bought this car new, and has been pampered: garaged in CA, engine oil changed every 5k, ATF changed every 2 years, driven delicately, etc. Yet, I still have this problem. If I have this problem, I know everyone has this problem. So thank you! You helped us all.
You're doing a nice job bro, very useful, love this model of accord, so good. I'm driving 1992 accord and just replaced valve cover gasket for some months like this, just subscribe to support your channel.
Very good video, great detail to job at hand as well as progress and process details . The envy of every car owner is this type of detailed attention in their mechanic. Would make a great maintenance school instructor. Thank your mentors , they've done a great job. and thank you for wanting to learn and do things correctly. The best in the future.
Another Excellent and very clear Video on your 7th. Generation Honda Accord.. A wonderful machine, IMO. -- Will be looking for more from you on this car --Thank you and best wishes.
I recommend Honda bond. Also apply the silicone to the engine not rubber. I would apply a bead the the whole back side too. K20 engine are notorious for leaking from the back of the valve cover
I just did this, if i did it again id put the rtv on the head rather the cover, i think theres way less chance of getting smeared, like you did in the video
Oh man I'd have to hard disagree with you on that one, we've essentially only used Felpro on all of our cars and never had problems unless we installed wrong, e.g. used too much silicone or torqued it incorrectly
@@VeryGoodGarage thank you man. I bought some red rtv sealant in accident. I'll buy the black rtv sealant. thank you. what the exact black rtv you used for the video?
Hands down, this is the best vtec engine valve gasket replacement video!
Agreed! Watched like ten and this one is super thorough.
I agree ☝️

@flat absolutely 🔥🔥🔥 no more leaks, this is amazing❤️
I really enjoyed your video. I’m planning to do this job on my 04 Accord. Your video was the visual illustration needed. Thank you again
God bless you, man! This was the most comprehensive car repair video that I've ever watched.

I’d watch Eric The Car guys video as well. It’s a little more in depth and detailed.
The part that I thank you the most for its where you explain were to put the silicone and in what quanity, that part was really important. thank you!

Great video, simple, to the point, dedicated camera, keep it up.

We might have another one soon! The radiator fan died a few days ago, so that will need fixing
I recommend Honda bond.

Wow!! Lost of words thank you 🙏

Hey I just saw you blue Dodge at the Chevron gas station
That means those stickers are doing their job!
Haha yes they are keep up the good work!
You was suppose to put the black cream inside before you added the cover
Very clear.good.
Good job man
2005 nissan sentra stops running won't start up until cool
I have a question. Didn't give you a problem after you changed his stamp?
I just did this, if i did it again id put the rtv on the head rather the cover, i think theres way less chance of getting smeared, like you did in the video
What are the 4 extra grommets for that come in the kit??
Which of the 2 circular seals should i use? The one with the metal stiff ring or the rubber one with protrusion?
Great video. I just recomend hondabond lol because honda
I've seen that a lot actually since this video, probably will just use that in the future as well
Are they vtec? Are they meant for performance too? #k24A4??
Can anybody tell me the part number it would be really helpful please and thank you!
hey bro, is there a specific way we should torque the bolts on the cover?
I would start from the inside bolts and work your way outward
Wait so your telling me. If I wanna spray my valve cover I gotta replace the gasket for it to?
I probably would even if you really didn't need to, they aren't very expensive
@@VeryGoodGarage kinda makes sense also. Do I have to mask off the underside of the valve cover ?
Where did you get that impact gun? Great video bro!
It's this one! amzn.to/3dl97If
Thanks!
With that Felpro gasket kit, you will for sure come back to replace the gaskets with an oem ones because they will leak, they are not of quality.
Oh man I'd have to hard disagree with you on that one, we've essentially only used Felpro on all of our cars and never had problems unless we installed wrong, e.g. used too much silicone or torqued it incorrectly
Don't torque the nuts. The studs snap very easily. The torque is only 8.7 FT LB.
Where do you get the part from?
There's links in the description! If we missed a part mentioned in the video, let us know what part specifically and we'll find the link for it
Can I use any type of RTV sealant for the valve cover gasket?
You just need to make sure your rtv is good to use where oil will be, I believe that is the purpose of black rtv
@@VeryGoodGarage thank you man. I bought some red rtv sealant in accident. I'll buy the black rtv sealant. thank you. what the exact black rtv you used for the video?
So don’t bother taking the oil out then right? It’s cool just like that.
Fairly easy job - mechanic is tryna charge me $400 - $500 for this shit
Good job brother ☝🏻🤓
