    Of the most underrated guitarists ever that gave so so much to music in a very very short life about 25 and half he wrote by himself the whole Deep Purples album "Come Taste The Band" when he was casted by purple Lord, Coverdale, Huge, Glover he played perfectly all Blackmore's masterpiece and more with such an ease that left speechless the whole studio... just listen to the double album "Great Gypsy Soul" all the album but focus the second disc tracks: 1 Flying Fingers, 2 Marching Bag Movement 1, Marching Bag Movement 2, Marching Bag Movement 3, and Marching Bag Movement 4 please do it and listen to the most magical and enchanted and beautiful and powerful and melodic music with majestic orchestration of a master class artist!!! Tommy my brother i miss you so much your music your energy and your spirit and your laughter, surely your music and is a inspiration to every music-guitar lover no matter the music style🙏

    well Tommy Bolin was one of the best cause he played any type of music and here is the key reason, tommy had a style all his own. when he played, you didn't say there's page or Clapton, you said that's Tommy and that is that. 40 yrs later I've still yet to here a guitar player like him. yes there have been greats but not his level. BOOM

      Tommy selected his axe according to the tone he wanted. Everyone knows about his two Fender Strats - the Sunburst and the wood finish one with a Telecaster neck. He also liked Les Pauls with Bigsby trems, an Explorer, thought to be an Ibanez through HiWatt amps. On a few tunes, he used a Gibson SG with two Fender amps set up -probably Twins.

      @Customer Service Tommy was murdered. He had just learned that evening his former longtime girlfriend Karen Ulibarri (who he hoped to get back together with) was engaged to Glenn, so he took heroin while grieving. He was not an addict and had no tracks. Later on, the suppliers injected him a second time while he was asleep. It was the second shot that killed him. The suppliers were reportedly hired by Tommy's agent, the late Barry Fey, who felt that Tommy was a bad ROI and was worth more dead than alive. All of the evidence is available in "The Ultimate" documentary on TH-cam and "Touched by Magic: The Tommy Bolin Story" by Greg Prato. Jon Lord and Karen Ulibarri made statements supporting the possibility that he was murdered. So go ahead and keep saying Tommy was reckless and that led to his death. Doesn't make it true, mate.

      @robogenus 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      What happened around his death? Tommy was one of my Dad's closest friends in Boulder. They grew up together and jammed together. My dad was the lead singer and guitarist of Onyx Rock Band in late 60s and early 70s. Tommy Bolin was the best Rock Guitarist along with Rory Gallagher, everyone else that's close to their league are right under them. Hendrix was a close 3rd :) IMO!

    • @bolinfan1519
      @bolinfan1519 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@robogenus Tommy was murdered by a second dose of heroin injected into his back while he was asleep.
      There was a party in Tommy's hotel room after his concert in Miami. Some attendees were men who no one knew and were characterized as unfriendly. Tommy received a phone call from London by his former longtime girlfriend, Karen Ulibarri, who informed him that she had just become engaged to Glenn Hughes. Tommy coped with the news by snorting a hit of heroin which was provided by one of the men already mentioned.
      Tommy went to sleep soon after that, and was joined by his current girlfriend, a woman from Switzerland. Later that night he was injected with heroin in his back. His girlfriend woke up and heard his labored breathing. She asked if someone would call an ambulance but those men were against it.
      Tommy's autopsy indicated that he had no tracks, which meant that he wasn't a heroin addict. He had used heroin periodically in the past but wasn't a current user, only taking it after the phone call because of the news from Karen. The autopsy verified the injection site in his back.
      Tommy suffered from alcoholism, a result of the free booze provided to him by bars and clubs in Colorado where he used to play. They often gave drinks to band members instead of paying them. He was also addicted to cocaine, a result of Glenn introducing it to him when they lived at Glenn's house in LA. He used a variety of drugs over the years but I don't believe he was addicted to anything else.
      Some people believe that Tommy's agent Barry Fey was behind his murder, and that the men at the party were sent by him. Barry was very disappointed in the dissolution of Deep Purple, since he had been supporting Tommy financially for several years and hoped to cash in on Tommy's success. But things hadn't worked out and it is believed that Barry felt Tommy was worth more dead than alive. He had Tommy's catalogue and planned to monetize it after his death. He never proceeded with his plan, however, possibly because it would establish a motive.
      There are some who say Barry had a life insurance policy on Tommy, which if true would further support the motive that Tommy was worth more dead than alive.
      Barry's daughter admitted recently that she has Tommy's master tapes in a comment on TH-cam. You can find it at the link below. Tommy's friends and relatives have scrounged for whatever recordings of his they could find to publish, but the vast amount of his recordings have been held back by Barry and his daughter.
      The above information is my recollection of what I've learned over the years, as well as from information found in the following links. Disregard what the rock magazines from 1976 say... they were covering for Barry and his crowd.
