- In my mind growing up, Emeril Lagasse made the Food Network. His was the star that shined the brightest in the world of celebrity chefs back in the '90s and early 2000s. And for the longest time, I dreamed of eating at one of his restaurants. It soon became clear that Emeril is a restauranteur and a chef first, a TV star second, and a seasoned watch collector third.

Agreed. Given Emeril's reputation for still actually working his restaurant after all these years it shouldn't be surprising, but it is very nice to see.

That's the thing that struck me most. Nice to see dings and scratches from many years of being banged around his kitchens and TV studios.

One of the best talking watches episodes for a long time! Being from the UK, and having spent much of the last decade in the extreme eastern part of Europe, I'd never heard of Emeril Lagasse, but what an amazing, passionate, and family-orientated man he is (I've no doubt that he and his son are incredible chefs!) with Cole Pennington being the perfect choice of presenter in this instance.
Cole is an absolute champion.

In the United States there is a cable Tv called the FOOD NETWORK, Emeril Lagasse became famous by having a few cooking shows on this network in the 80's , 90's and 2000's . Emeril is popular here in the states and we love him, i'm glad you found out about him.
@@darryld6578 Thanks for the info Darryl. I guessed as much from the video. His fame and other abilities aside (no doubt being a great chef and successful restaurateur), he also comes across as a very genuine, humble and decent human being - which counts for even more in my book.
Cole lifted this beyond an interview to a conversation. The art of conversation is rare these days. Loved this episode.

When he first joined Hodinkee he sounded a bit too robotic. He's become much more relaxed in his talking style and it's great listening to him now
I love the misaligned bezel on the hulk really just shows how a diver is such a perfect tool in the kitchen

Love to see how used these watches are. This has gotta be one of the first episodes where more than half the watches have scratches on the crystals.
I started my own business in 2015 and I have a three year old son. I have had dreams of me gifting him the first Rolex that I ever bought and also of him working with me one day. Seeing this episode really hit me different and it's incredibly refreshing to see someone really living out the dream. Salute!

The greatest measure of success in my opinion is how your kid or kids turn out to be. It looks like Emeril Lagasse is not only a great Chef and business owner ; but also a great father. What an outstanding job he has done with his son. That’s somebody you would want to work for . Fantastic episode , with some nice watches , nice people and interesting stories behind the watches .
This is so great, you can tell he is a great dad who inspires his son. The young man seems like a hard worker, and great communicator.
What I enjoyed about this episode was that father and son's passion for watches shined through so brightly that people around them thanked them by sending them watches as a sign of appreciation and for the excellent service they provided, which tightly couples the story to the watch. But the most critical part of this episode is the incredible father-son bond.

Hands down my most favorite Talking Watches thus far. This was a great episode and felt it bread new light into a seasoned American Icon. I loved this episode and loved the AP clock hanging in the kitchen. Definitely need Gordon Ramsay on talking watches too.

I just became a dad on august 10 2022. When MR Lagasse talked about passing down the “torch” his first Rolex to his son, it hit me differently. Thank you for a beautiful video with a well deserving man, and a role model of a father.
Kudos to Cole for doing such a great interview! Amazing questions, did his research, is emotionally intelligent, can get people to open up, the list goes on. I think we've found the right person to continue carrying the Talking Watches torch!

This has been one of my favourite episodes, what a lovely man Emeril is. This is the best way to collect, buy what you like and attach to a special memory. It makes the whole experience of owning a nice watch that little bit better. Good luck to this man and his business.

I was looking up ways to change up my spaghetti recipe and up came Emeril and his time on Emeril Live. Total nostalgia watching him many years later. My mother use to watch his show from the beginning to the end and we even tried out his spice line and sometimes I would add it and say BAM! Today he shows up on Talking Watches. I had a feeling he would be a Rolex type of guy. It's amazing to see him today and how his son really is walking in his footsteps. Time truly never stops, it just keeps on ticking. What a meaningful and fun collection they both have. Really great episode Hodinkee.

This is one of my favorite episode, and I have seen everyone of the episodes of TW for years. the Italian dude one used to be my favorite but this episode kind of highlights the importance of life and continuity of life to me.

The bezel for the ceramic daytona at 22:05 looks wrong. The markers are too thin.

The best Talking Watches yet! Emeril loves his watches and actually wears them and puts them to good use. He also shares his cooking and watch passion with his son which makes for an outstanding legacy.

This is another level up guys.. I almost cried watching it. I had the honor to dine at their restaurant few years ago and it was an absolute pleasure. Very nice interview by Cole as well, however ,...In my humble opinion, I don't think Emeril needs anoher 5711 , since he already have the solid gold version. I would personally recommend him an FP Journe linesport Centigraph that is made out of Aluminum. A unique piece that would make more sense to him..but this one is perhaps harder to get 😉

This is the video I'll show all my friends who want to get into watches and not sure what video to watch. What a great video and showing the passion between father and son. My father is into watches but more of an appreciator vs collector. Its cool they both are into collecting and even share watches too. Truly an inspiration. Also, son's collection cooler than his pops :P
