@@SStrikeFury That last point you bring up is exactly why hitting boss monsters is dumb. The engine is what allows you to do broken stuff so it doesn't matter what bosses you ban. To be fair, I never understood why ariseheart was hated so much. I guess it’s just “draw the out” but at least you can play ANY removal card and beat Arise heart. Like literally smashing ground would take it out. Then I remember that Darklaw exists, and remember oh right, it’s completely stupid to have macro cosmos on legs
i guess arise-heart was worse then darklaw since it had more ATK,quick effect removal and ''infinite'' xyz materials, you could also slap the infinitrack link-1 on it for protection.
There's like multiple angles to this too, like, you're realistically not playing fucking Smashing Ground to out Snake-Eyes' combo, and even if it's just "draw Imperm" it's like, games being boiled down into "which player drew the out" and punting the other into the sun is abject misery Like if Arise-Heart was just Zeus but it banishes everything face-down instead and I still get a GY, I would be infinitely more okay with it
@@thewave-qz9lt I mean, most of the time it would not have quick effect removal until you used multiple cards. The Link 1 certainly is a problem though. I never claimed darklaw was better, just that it’s a stupid design regardless of how easy it is to potentially out.
Mikanko has a lot more interaction in order to stop the OTK from happening IMO. Other methods like Gossip Shadow, Numeron, or FTK burn are restricted to hand traps in your opening hand to stop, but Mikanko requires understanding how to dismantle the board in turn 2 to get the OTK. And if you don’t, you need to figure out how to set up for follow on. If anything, Mikanko is more efficient than Liebe OTK, and I’m a fan of both.
mikanko has to be in my top 5 least favorite deck to play against. It just feels impossible to out in most strategies and if i have the audacity to summon a monster with more then 2000 attack i insta lose. The guy who loves mikanko said it best, he doesnt have to pay attention or care what his opponent does. he just gives you a kaiju or a golem and crashes with no real way to stop it
Underworld goddess is one of the best outs to hu-li lock and it can be used in many decks. Assuming they don't have the otk and you get to play another turn of course.
there are two types of people. the people who don't want tenpai in the game, and the people who gaslight themselves into thinking they want tenpai in the game 10:03 Book of Eclipse or Daruma Cannon I guess?
"Now I'm happy that this game has a rigged coin toss that I lose 75% of the time" Which is more likely? That Master Duel actually has a built-in mechanism that was deliberately coded to make some players more likely to win the coin toss than others? Or that you simply got unlucky?
"Somebody explain why the thread praising Mikanko is controversial but then Mikanko being complained about is also controversial" That's literally what controversy is.
Tenpai in Master Duel... it'll be VERY interesting to see how that will play out. I want to use Tenpai as an engine in dragons but the best of 1 format might make Master Duel heavily hit the deck. 😑
9:33 Just play level 8 monsters and make Tachyon. When I run into them I'm constantly glad I'm playing a Galaxy/Photon deck and still run Tachyon as a backup.
As a Mikanko lover, I have no idea why ju-li protects from targeting, but it’s also incredibly easy to stop her from hitting the field in the first place. Plus, say what you want, I’m taking untargetable over unaffected any day
Both Unicorn and Fenrir should be banned, free special summons and board breaker for Fenrir. But Unicorn is 2 special summon and a banish face down of an extra deck monster if the opponent hand traps. Unicorn is almost a +3
I don't understand the discourse around Mikanko. People (or just one random person) have been asking for an archetype to take advantage of equip cards, y'know that one group of spell cards with a large portion of them being useless.
@@kingknightisbestknight7398 I didn't bring them cause I do have bias towards them.. I failed to mention Infernoble mostly because Infernobles didn't get as broken or good as quickly as Mikanko did.

Yugioh has a serious problem with new cards doing to many things, it's cool and great for the game when cards do new things or innovate on previous mechanics but cards like Baronne, Fenrir, Boreload, the entire snake eyes archetype, just do way too much. U should have to inperm or forbidden droplet every monster on the field just to start ur turn.

Dumb take: overtuned generic boss/Extra Deck monsters should be, rather than entirely forbidden, complex banned out of non-archetypal decks (which is easier said than done, I know). Or at least, erratad into being less generic Imagine if Baronne needed Fleur Synchron, or if you couldn't play Verte Anaconda in non Predaplant-heavy decks
As another comment said, it would have to force konami to print even usable boss monsters for even past archetypes, kinda like Endymion with him and Jackal king being the main boss monsters Generic boss monsters give a fighting chance to kinda bad archetypes But meta decks being able to use them like nothing too feels like someone taking a disabled parking spot
okay but fuck the logical argument for borrel/baronne I want to play rocks leave me alone I don't want my end board being apo dragite and red dragon archfiend
I don't hate mikanko for what it does but the cards are still badly designed because the effects are distributed across multiple cards and you have to look for a short sentence that is somewhere on 3 cards which have hundreds of words each if you want to know what makes them untargetable for example. Its ok card design but the worst text structure of all time.
Ive seen so many comments where people are saying they use unusual tech and the only responses they get are. This card is bad. You sbould use something else. Despite you saying it works, it never works.
Mikanko is genuinely one of the worst archetypes in the game. I'm not saying its ineffective but its a bad strategy to have in a game that is focused on interacting with your opponent based on their unique playstyle. Mikanko just doesn't care and does the same thing every game with zero variation.
Mikanko can be very enjoyable. I've had plenty of games playing it where I've had to get creative with their interactive pieces to be successful. Not to mention they are really easy to counter in tcg. Not as easy in master duel but still
the mikanko duality is easy you're not allowed to complain about mikanko, because it isn't a tiered strat you're also not allowed to like mikanko, because it's a cringe blind second otk strat that requires zero "skill" /r/masterduel brainrot at its finest
"This player has never heard of a side deck" Is reading comments on the master duel reddit where master duel is a best of 1 format. 🧠 I think the real problem is the Bo3 format in the TCG needs to be removed. Align the TCG with master duel and the OCG.
Right? If your deck has no boss monsters without generic omni-negates, your deck either sucks and you probably should not be playing it and thinking your vaguely competitive, or your deck is some bull like snake-eye that can make 20+ material which konami forgot a restriction clause on and you are too omni-negate pilled to consider doing anything else

"why are the post about liking Mikanko and the post complaining about Mikanko both getting downvoted. how are they both controversial" it's almost like Mikanko has people feeling strongly about both opposing viewpoints. or as some would call that, "controversial"
I see a lot of people complaining that certain decks are unfun to play against. But what are decks that are fun to play against? Most like decent to good deck's literal purpose is to stop your opponent from playing the game. That is yugioh.
Thats not even completely true, its just the TCG equivalent of fighting game players saying "every character is bullshit except mine (when i play them)"
"That is Yugioh" Yeah no Ever played against Magnet Warriors? Archfiends? Junk? Vendread? Monolith? Anything that isn't inherently a Deck made to spam out a Generic Boss or that isn't packed full of Traps/Spells that just Block and negate anything?
why EEV AND BARRIER are is simple they are crap now they are only playable in decks that can search them unless you want to be toxic again and use thrust to get them but then you must ask yourself isn't thrust issue. currently they are like a handtrap you must draw it to use it but unlike handtrap you arent playing half a deck of them. yes it does because if it didn't why is ash legal it's been good in nearly every format and it's only point is to slow the opponent
Just put fenrir to one, ban Arise heart and put all others things to normal 😂😂😂 Also arise heart is just stupid It's a 3k atk and def, can be summon like zoodiac without restrictions, macro cosmos at home, zeus on steroid and just put the infinitrack link 1 moster to make it cannot be destroy by card effects
The fact that there are 3 stages to get rid completely of a card (aka banish face down) shows how the pace of the game has been mutilated, while having cards that can access that last stage of removal for free while activating effects that further make you unable to access anything, be it your deck or zones. Kashtira, whether you can counter it or not, is such a messed up archetype that is the antithesis of bad game design.

also due to how the game is naturally players will always be looking to find ways to reduce opponen’s interaction (see new Snake-Eyes list than ran Dis Pater & Omega to rip 2 from hand) things will NOT CHANGE. the game has to be either ENTIRELY rid of negate effects or strong negate boss monsters for ALL decks to reach an ideal conclusion (which again not trusting Konami on this)
@@SStrikeFury That last point you bring up is exactly why hitting boss monsters is dumb. The engine is what allows you to do broken stuff so it doesn't matter what bosses you ban. The engine will eventually do something stupid. Insects are another good example of an engine that's just waiting for something good they can use.
@@SStrikeFuryMy 60 card dumpster fire zefra-endymion-pendulum magician-invoked are basically each engines doing it's own stuff, pend mag got me savage, Invoked got me mechaba, Endymion was getting the jackal king and/or endymion on field and zefra was bodies to end up linking into apollousa
I really like those decks that are a lot of different stuff that kinda boost each other
On the same vein I had a 60 card dragon link back when adventure engine just dropped on master duel
Couldn't play after that bc ps4 died, now a I have a complete adventure engine doing nothing bc I just had it to get barone with halqifibrax and rose dragon tuners, then dragon link went crazy and now I cant really play it after the hits and the current meta
People literally give up hope when we lose the dice roll unless they're opponent is just a straight scrub....
Most recent decks apparently have that theme of doing everything, first kash having no restrictions whatsoever, and now snake eyes that every card does everything, idk if thats the new way to have a "strongest deck in the format" title but man just feels bad.
uhm ackshually, Kashtiratheosis locks you into Xyz summoning. ☝️🤓
@@fnfgammer2014 one card in the entire deck locks oh woowwww
@@Finalslashes2 actually...riseheart locks you in XYZ's if you use the special summon effect
Mikanko is so much fun. Especially when you move on to playing the going first variants. Sinful Mikanko Warrior pile goes crazy.
@@thewave-qz9ltarise heart’s effect is non-once per turn
Just ban fenrir and ariseheart problem might be solved even without touching it
There's like multiple angles to this too, like, you're realistically not playing fucking Smashing Ground to out Snake-Eyes' combo, and even if it's just "draw Imperm" it's like, games being boiled down into "which player drew the out" and punting the other into the sun is abject misery
Like if Arise-Heart was just Zeus but it banishes everything face-down instead and I still get a GY, I would be infinitely more okay with it
@@thewave-qz9lt I mean, most of the time it would not have quick effect removal until you used multiple cards. The Link 1 certainly is a problem though. I never claimed darklaw was better, just that it’s a stupid design regardless of how easy it is to potentially out.
the post about mikanko was hilarious
One of my friends beat a Mikanko deck when he was forced to go first. He was playing a Hungry Burger deck
@@lucasg7720 i met a Mikanko player that used Kaiser yesterday, so no Goddess lol
I once beat Mikanko using Electrum to pop 6 times with Shining Neos Wingman, it was glorious
there are two types of people. the people who don't want tenpai in the game, and the people who gaslight themselves into thinking they want tenpai in the game
10:03 Book of Eclipse or Daruma Cannon I guess?
"Now I'm happy that this game has a rigged coin toss that I lose 75% of the time"
Which is more likely? That Master Duel actually has a built-in mechanism that was deliberately coded to make some players more likely to win the coin toss than others? Or that you simply got unlucky?
the former, casinos know how to keep you hooked in
9:00 - PacooComplexus is gonna really love Tenpai when it arrives to MD :]
4:10 this is the master duel sub tho. they dont have an side deck
08:21 „They can’t agree“ Yeah, that’s what being controversial means, isn’t it?
mikanko is just numeron with a mustache
9:50 Mikanko -> battle phase deck-> tempai -> a omni protection Main phase 1 -> Misc
9:45 still blinding 2nd with dinos, masters every season. if misc resolves, glhf
I didn’t use fenrir until it was limited to 1
Didn’t even think about searching itself lol
"Somebody explain why the thread praising Mikanko is controversial but then Mikanko being complained about is also controversial"
That's literally what controversy is.
The guy ranting about Mikanko is right you know....
Tenpai in Master Duel... it'll be VERY interesting to see how that will play out.
I want to use Tenpai as an engine in dragons but the best of 1 format might make Master Duel heavily hit the deck. 😑
9:33 Just play level 8 monsters and make Tachyon. When I run into them I'm constantly glad I'm playing a Galaxy/Photon deck and still run Tachyon as a backup.
the guy who said d barrier isn't good right now was capping
When you move Kashtira and defend it , i will tell you that life is hard
As a Mikanko lover, I have no idea why ju-li protects from targeting, but it’s also incredibly easy to stop her from hitting the field in the first place. Plus, say what you want, I’m taking untargetable over unaffected any day
If these rants were memes, the weekly meme reviews would be funnier.
No no no super polying baronne and savage is fun, let me do it a bit more and dont ban them yet
I'd like to see what would happen if a lab player ran pokemon cards
I once got down voted on r/masterduel for saying I liked playing Thunder Dragons.
The reason nobody's playing DPE in Master Duel is because they banned the good main deck destiny heroes, so it's just worse dragoon without them
Im currently trying to build a Mikanko deck in MD right now. The pack for them is out and I’ve been taking advantage of it.
8:25 That's literally what controversial means big dog
If it were up to Farfa and Josh, the banlist would be a thousand cards long.
Both Unicorn and Fenrir should be banned, free special summons and board breaker for Fenrir. But Unicorn is 2 special summon and a banish face down of an extra deck monster if the opponent hand traps. Unicorn is almost a +3
5:05 no ohime. That is funny. I pulled a royal
There were a lot more based opinions than I thought there would be...except the Mikanko enjoyer, and "The card's not good now" guy
I don't understand the discourse around Mikanko. People (or just one random person) have been asking for an archetype to take advantage of equip cards, y'know that one group of spell cards with a large portion of them being useless.
Infernobles are right there to yoir left Sir
@@kingknightisbestknight7398 I didn't bring them cause I do have bias towards them.. I failed to mention Infernoble mostly because Infernobles didn't get as broken or good as quickly as Mikanko did.
The guy praising mikanko perfectly describes every reason I hate mikanko
it's all fun and games till monke flip returns. also more of this!
My take for master duel is that we should have a draft mode by now in the game.
My take on Master Duel is that secret packs should STAY unlocked once you unlock them.
Mikanko is the most meta anti meta deck and I love it so much
To be honest you got it backwards... Which is telling of social media's influence. It should be "Social media gives us the worst of society and sometimes the best". Anyone who disagrees needs to stop being delusional. Anyone with half a brain and more than two brain cells can see social media and media in general push stories. And what gets attention the best? Negativity, morally wrong acts and people.
How can some people just completely forget that discord servers and Twitter actually exist when talking about worst social media lmao. Twitter is actually Chernobyl
ive been going second the moment i was born, im playing tenpai when it drops and im not apologizing
I can’t even beat Mikanko if they go first. Trying to out 2-3 towers that will beat me if I do anything makes me sad
there exists a xyz? that lets you ignore towers, i only pulled off the combo once or twice in my 91 hours of playtime. but if theres zero interuptions you can beat anyone *outside of maybe rikka or whoever uses life gain although my way is low odd's since i dont really know deck building or massive combos, so i cant play most decks

Dumb take: overtuned generic boss/Extra Deck monsters should be, rather than entirely forbidden, complex banned out of non-archetypal decks (which is easier said than done, I know). Or at least, erratad into being less generic
Imagine if Baronne needed Fleur Synchron, or if you couldn't play Verte Anaconda in non Predaplant-heavy decks
As another comment said, it would have to force konami to print even usable boss monsters for even past archetypes, kinda like Endymion with him and Jackal king being the main boss monsters
Generic boss monsters give a fighting chance to kinda bad archetypes
But meta decks being able to use them like nothing too feels like someone taking a disabled parking spot
okay but fuck the logical argument for borrel/baronne I want to play rocks leave me alone I don't want my end board being apo dragite and red dragon archfiend
Faced tenpai at locals… I think I quit yugioh
I don't hate mikanko for what it does but the cards are still badly designed because the effects are distributed across multiple cards and you have to look for a short sentence that is somewhere on 3 cards which have hundreds of words each if you want to know what makes them untargetable for example. Its ok card design but the worst text structure of all time.
I stg master duel players are regarded. Quite that bs for db and paper play only and havent looked back once.
2:42 Oh hi me.
And the dittrrs one those bots
Ive seen so many comments where people are saying they use unusual tech and the only responses they get are. This card is bad. You sbould use something else. Despite you saying it works, it never works.
Rank needs to actually ranked and be based on skill. Tired of getting slammed meta decks cause people are trash at the game they need op cards to win.
Not as easy in master duel but still
Wich episode of MD Memes is this 0:15
the mikanko duality is easy
you're not allowed to complain about mikanko, because it isn't a tiered strat
you're also not allowed to like mikanko, because it's a cringe blind second otk strat that requires zero "skill"

"This player has never heard of a side deck"

I think the real problem is the Bo3 format in the TCG needs to be removed. Align the TCG with master duel and the OCG.
I’m pretty sure OCG also uses side deck my guy

Physically impossible and financially the worst move ever. Thank god Konami is in control
If your deck doesn't have boss monster without Bar on the floor or savage dragon then it doesn''t deserve them

Nah I'm not even a kash player but i 100% think kashtira already suffered enough in MD. Tear, SS and Snake Eyes all got released with almost no pre hit, but kash specifically needed to be murdered since day 0 for some reasons.
locking all 10 zones of your opponent's board is a pretty damn good reason.
@@SnowyGrass toxic and strong are two completely different things. The timelord deck is extremely toxic, but I doubt anyone would consider it even remotely rouge. Tear is not a toxic deck, but it's much stronger than Kash, and despite that it got less pre hits.

"why are the post about liking Mikanko and the post complaining about Mikanko both getting downvoted. how are they both controversial"
it's almost like Mikanko has people feeling strongly about both opposing viewpoints. or as some would call that, "controversial"
I see a lot of people complaining that certain decks are unfun to play against. But what are decks that are fun to play against? Most like decent to good deck's literal purpose is to stop your opponent from playing the game. That is yugioh.
Thats not even completely true, its just the TCG equivalent of fighting game players saying "every character is bullshit except mine (when i play them)"
"That is Yugioh"
Yeah no

Another controversial take: MekLord should be tier zero
why EEV AND BARRIER are is simple they are crap now they are only playable in decks that can search them unless you want to be toxic again and use thrust to get them but then you must ask yourself isn't thrust issue. currently they are like a handtrap you must draw it to use it but unlike handtrap you arent playing half a deck of them. yes it does because if it didn't why is ash legal it's been good in nearly every format and it's only point is to slow the opponent

Nothing wrong with kashtira, i'd rather fight kashtira than tear or lab, bad take worst player
Controversial take: get rid of all hand traps and kashteira
So make everything board breaker draw heaven, kash is just floodgate control
