The confidence the showrunners have in what they are doing with #Andor is next level. It's not just peak Star Wars, it is peak television. The acting beats the pants off House of the Dragon, the story they are telling puts trust in the audience to decipher what is going on, and trusts them to know the story from episode one to where they are now to follow along. There are no exposition dumps, no hand-holding, and no treating us like dummies like most TV/Film does nowadays. This latest episode gave me THX vibes in the best way, while also being immersed in Star Wars lore and legends history. And damn, if Dedra Meero isn't the most terrifying Imperial then I don't know who is... Tarkin, eat your heart out.

I love the floors as means of control in the prison. It's one of the first real uses of sci fi tech in this kind of setting. Sure there are shock collars and laser grids but this is one of the first real uses of tech to do something to make a fictional prison actually harder to escape than a modern real world one instead of just making LED beeping handcuffs or fancier fences. As lord Vader would say to this episode: “Impressive, most impressive.” Andor’s never failed to keep me glued to the screen from start to finish, and your reaction adds much more authenticity to it. Edit: Andy Serkins was a surprise to be sure, but a welcome one as he’s a big fan of this franchise so SNOKE being in andor is great!
This series has been solidified as my favourite Star Wars media next to Empire. I’m so obsessed with what this show is doing, and just how fking good it is.
Getting Hera and Kanan vibes from Cinta and Vel. Another relationship destined to end in tragedy because one is so focused on the cause, that she doesn't have time for the other, until she tragically loses them.
The part where that guy committed suicide reminded me of this part in the Imperial Commando novel: 501st where a clone commando named Ennen killed himself. He lost his brother Bry to a Jedi that they were hunting down. From what I remember the commando squadron went after the Jedi believing it was him but turned out it wasn’t. They killed the wrong man and Ennen got really depressed about it and closed himself off. He found life pointless because they had won the war but life was worse. He ended up taking a blaster into the restroom and ended his life there. It was another clone commando named Darman Skirata who found Ennen. It was pretty sad. It really shook him up too because after Order 66 he was really depressed himself and wanted to do the same in the beginning.
Andor is the best Star Wars live action show because of the stunning world building and the constant raising of the stakes! I heard it's like the least watched show of the SW series and that's truly their loss. I've never truly understood what the Empire was and why it was so bad, but I do now, and that's a testament to the writing and setting all the pieces in place. It's like everyone else has been playing checkers and Gilroy is playing VR chess, and I'm here for it. I've always been just barely a casual Star Wars fan but I have never been as invested as I have been watching Andor! To me this show is firing on all cylinders. And I loved Kyle's expression when Bendu said they could swim since there was land miles away from sea prison😂😂. I'd like to see that!
Agreed. The atmosphere building and, especially, the acting has been brilliant. using Classically trained British actors was smart as it gives the show a very authentic edge. Smartly picked cast, great music, great cinematography.... perfect. Just imagine if Kenobi had been this good!
They just started filming season 2. Originally they wanted to do something like 4 or 5 seasons, but both Diego Luna and Tony Gilroy said that doing S1 was so exhausting (it took like 9 month to film and more than a year of post production) they won't do more than 2 seasons. I'd love more seasons too, but if the producers think it's fine like this I trust them
Very cool Ep....Meero is just great to see doing what she does for the Empire. I do feel bad for Syril though, as it seems no one really needs him. He will probably go on his own crusade to get Andor.

This episode continues to solidify that Karn is the best character in the show. Although the depiction of forcing the prisoners to fight against each other paralleled with the rebellion under going a similar struggle is a smart and brilliant choice. The writing is top notch!
speaking of "Axis" and "Fulcrum", in the Siege of Mandalore arc of Clone Wars s7 Anakin and Obi-Wan get a transmission from Fulcrum and they think it's Saw, so codename Fulcrum had already been in use before now
I note that "Fulcrum" is a codename used by the Rebels to identify their operator, whereas "Axis" is a name assigned by the ISB for their person of interest. So, Axis and Fulcrum could still conceivably be the same person, in this case, Luthen. Or has it been established in canon that Asoka is already using the Fulcrum codename by this point?
Parts being made-they’re connectors at the base of tie fighter wings, where the flat wing panel joins the (?stalk?post) going to the control pod; they look like the parts that blow off the wings in REBELS episode at the tie fighter academy. Water around the prisons-those whirlpools/water intakes create a pull, so you *can’t* escape by swimming away; it’s also an uninhabited planet, with no life showing, so even if you could get off & out of the facility you’d still die of hunger. Only way off is the the ships delivering new prisoners (& I assume any other supplies) ...the dishonored investigator is going to be used by the ISB as a ‘hunting dog’ to find Andor. I don't know what happens to Vel, but it's so weirdly egocentric to think that if YOU haven't seen somebody later on they must have ceased to exist.
It is like Luthen is halfway there between the extremism of Saw Gerrera and the idealism of Mon Mothma, trying to pull together all those groups, to make them realize they only stand a chance if fighting side by side against the Empire.
If this wasn't set in the Star Wars universe it would be ranked as some the very best sci-fi ever. Being in it is almost a detriment because the SW audience expects Jedi, Sith, and space battles. I'm pretty sure Ahsoka said that "Fulcrum" was a code name they used dating back to the Clone Wars for agents and informants. Saw Gerrera used it during the Clone Wars and Ahsoka and Kallus used it during the Rebellion. I think "Axis" is just a code name Dedra came up with, but Luthen might run with it.
The guy who killed himself on the prison floor is an analogy to Nazi concentration camps which had electrified fences and often the prisoners there just threw themselves on the fence when they couldn't stand the camp any longer.
The conversation between Syril Karn and Dedra Meero reminds me of when Kirtan Loor met Yssane Isard in the novels. She doesn't quite have the presence of her yet, but Dedra does remind me of Ysanne.
The thing that caught me by surprise is either the fact that Andy Serkis has returned to Star Wars to play in another role or the funny thing that Snoke gets to work in a lab
This show is SOOO good. Every episode just increases my respect for the writing, acting, directing and fantastic production values (cinema level). It's a huge shame that it's not getting the viewership it deserves. Yes, it's slow paced but that is NOT the same thing as "boring". It is intricate, multi-layered, with intelligent dialog, sensible and believable motivations for all characters (including those in the Empire, making them way more three dimensional than in a lot of other Star Wars offerings). *Please please tell your friends to give this show a chance!! Heck, they don't even need to watch Rogue One first. It's THAT good!* Have them watch the first 3 or 4 episodes. If that doesn't hook them then nothing will. I put this right up there with the best of them, including the precedent setting "The Mandalorian", which showed us what a Star Wars TV show could be.
i think the vagueness of what they're building is part of how bleak their existence is - just punching out the same shape, not even able to take some faux satisfaction in what they're contributing to - like you guys said, pretty dystopian
I am so happy you noticed the THX 1138 vibe, I saw that film earlier this month and the prison screamed of it. All it was missing was shaved heads and a constant intake of drugs.
I have 2 theories about Syril Karn . Remember how the JOKER ( Joaquin Phoenix ) said : " for a long time i felt like i didnt exist " i think same thing its happening to Syril , the more he tries to go up the latter the more far behind he gets pushed , and he will reach a point where he will sabotage the imperial for not taking him into account as a valuable member of the Empire . 2 - He will find ANDOR on his own , he will let him go , just like Andor led Syril live on episode 3 but Syril will not do it because he wants to help Andor , but to get back at the Empire and to show them SEE , I CAN DO THIS JOB ON MY OWN and you DISCARDED ME , so F YOU .......... Overall AWESOME AWESOME EPISODE AND REACTION, Nice haircut Kyle 😍

In my theory, I think those were AT walkers feets. Cause it looks like the three toes foot and the joint between them is something the walkers from Endor have, right?
I’ve got a little bit of a theory that what they are building means nothing and are nothing. The empire probably disassembles it and gives the pieces back to them day to day and the point is as long as the other tables and other rooms are your enemies as you try to win day to day, the prisoners are too occupied to come together and fight the empire as long as they see eachother as enemies. Might be wrong but just an idea

I wonder why we keeping seeing Mothma's daughter Leida or however it's spelled and she's always angsty. Sure teenagers and angst go together but it seems like they are showing her more than necessary and I have to wonder if there's a reason behind it.
We know within a year Mon Mothma joins the Rebellion proper without looking back. I think her family is not long for that world, though there is a possibility its setting up a journey for her.
What was the meaning of the scene between Mon Mothma, her daughter and Tey (sp?). It seemed to me that there was some meaning here with Mon Mothma's kid's approach but what is it? Thoughts from anyone?
In dividing prisoners they're trying to strike a balance between preventing cohesion amongst folks familiar with each other to avoid insurrection, but also not so divisive that they can't work together to build stuff
Is that why He was sent in so easily and for so long? Because they are, unknowingly, building parts for the "deathstar"! So they need a huge work force. And who better than free prison labour.
@@rubaiyat300 they probably had droids build the prison? For example If a report shows up on someone's desk that a prison is being built, know one cares? because you need prisons, its not suspicious. But if your trying to hide something being built on massive scale then there are prisons manned by the empire all over the galaxy.

This doesn't just raise the Star Wars bar higher than it's been since Empire Strikes Back, but it's some of the best TV available.

What was the meaning of the scene between Mon Mothma, her daughter and Tey (sp?). It seemed to me that there was some meaning here with Mon Mothma's kid's approach but what is it? Thoughts from anyone?
Let’s do it!!!
In dividing prisoners they're trying to strike a balance between preventing cohesion amongst folks familiar with each other to avoid insurrection, but also not so divisive that they can't work together to build stuff
Ultimate game of floor is lava. I think there's going to be a lot more of Saw.. probably in season 2.
Soooo... Is that the prison where Erza's parent are incarcerated?
I'd so a tequila worm in an instant, I've wanted to do the Yukon Toe shot for decades.
I wonder if they’re building Death Star parts
Well Andy circus , let the smoke theories begin
Is that why He was sent in so easily and for so long? Because they are, unknowingly, building parts for the "deathstar"! So they need a huge work force. And who better than free prison labour.
You're right, but how much labor did they need to build the prisons in the first place? They are HUGE, and they only have 2000 workers or so.
@@rubaiyat300 they probably had droids build the prison? For example If a report shows up on someone's desk that a prison is being built, know one cares? because you need prisons, its not suspicious. But if your trying to hide something being built on massive scale then there are prisons manned by the empire all over the galaxy.
How do we get access to those polls you mention at the beginning of your videos? I want to participate!

The Who;e concentration camp vibe even down to the shower made my skin crawl.
wouldn't be surprised if the stormtroopers are given 'supplements' that make them more awake and aggressive
Could it be the sub frame of an Imperial probe Droid they are building here..??
