Our nuclear missile Prithvi is not named after Prithviraj Chauhan. Prithvi means land in Hindi/Sanskrit. This missile is land to land target missile that's why it is named as Prithvi.

The missile was named Prithvi - which means earth - it was not named after Prithviraj Chauhan, the Rajput ruler. The missile developed by India are named after five elements of nature - prithvi, agni, akash. Rest of the two elements - jal and vayu - perhaps in future two missiles will bear these names.
