That was my first thought , the old microwave shrinky toy landcruiser 😁 If your got the money - why not , it's great advertising for local manufacturing 👍
@@HDvids101 if this is the best car you've ever seen, you lot need higher expectations! Like Jeremy Clarkson telling the idiot suggesting that a Ford Mondeo is the best looking car money can buy
Yea look , you will always get the envious clowns in the comments that can't afford so much as a winch for their ride , ragging on this like we see in here , this little beast will always have its limitations with ground clearance and storage capacity being small . But what this guy has achieved in this custom build deserves the recognition of engineering excellence , and is really good advertising for our local manufacturing which is a good thing . If you got the money to burn , why not! 👍
@troygerencer1620 I'm totally envious of his 95kW and being able to use 5th gear! Speak for yourself, brokies! Envious I am certainly NOT, to suggest that shows what low expectations you have 😂😂! I guess that's why the brakes are OEM, 95kW can't build up enough speed to need upgraded brakes! Harrop used to be about cool cars! The fact this is featured is just plain SAD!! And for the brokies here, try getting replacements discs for Harrops Ultimate Brakes! Maybe they should focus on customer service and stocking consumables instead of developing mods for the pile of junk
@Steve-Mcgarrett Just making a point to all the unnecessary "Budget Envy Negative People" in the comments out there champ , nothing personal . People are all to quick to ragg on other people , ignoring the vision or achievement in obviously great engineering work . Suzuki should have given the option of Atleast a J20a 2 Litre power plant and larger tank as a factory option , I know this downfall all too well . Don't have low expectations , just realistic ones , you cannot overweight these Fun vehicles regardless of what you do , but you can make them capable for some Fun . This was however a great engineering example for others to be inspired by , from a man with an obviously big wallet ! 👍That's all .✌️
Bonnet scoop to accompany the supercharger would be an excellent combination option. Harrop mentioned the stock airbox is a bit restrictive unless you use a snorkel
Higher octane is better for boosted vehicles , and the economy is probably down the toilet . More Air at all times means more fuel required for correct mixture . This is the downfall for superchargers compared to a turbo that spools up to create boost / use more fuel at a higher rev range , but a turbo is useless in this Car where you want that power at low Rpm for torque . Suzuki should have offered a larger capacity 2 litre engine in this car to begin with as a starting point . Adding accessories and weight to the standard engine will turn it into a slug . Then again Suzuki designed this for the toy vehicle fun factor market , not as a tourer . Obviously.
Our son has a Suzuki Jimny and l drove it once never again l was wondering were the power went it didn't have any now l regularly drive a Suzuki Baleno with its 1.4 litre engine but the Baleno can drive at 110 kph easily less weight and less mechanical resistance and l also drive a 1997 Toyota Hilux 2X4 single cab aluminium tray ute and weighs around 1200 kgs and w2ith its 2.4 litre four cylinder engine with maybe 97 hp it goes quite well but the Jimny does need more power and the Toysuzi its just a very cool looking vehicle combines two my absolute favourite brands of vehicles Toyota and Suzuki actually there is the new Toyota Starlet which is a rebadged Suzuki Baleno but unfortunately not available in Australia but they get them in South Africa
Supercharged? Probably 3SGTE from MR2 might be better? 4 cylinder. You really don't want V6 because of the design fault of shared journals means that 1 bearing on the connecting rod to the shared journal will be dry on start up? My opinion is always avoid forced induction V6 like it's the plague unless it's something modern like R35 GTR and likes of more very modern V6 motors. If you meant modern Camry being Toyota they would have added oil squirters for the super charged Sportivo, optioned Alteeze and optioned Avalons
Yea I reckon he will be pushing the Jimneys GVM rating here . I am a modified Suzuki Grand vitara owner , it's great for what is is but they were never built as a grand tourer and don't expect them to be . Great for camping , a fishing /hiking trip rig , shorter trips and some off road nimble fun . Regardless well done to this Man for his creative vision , actually getting his hands dirty and excellent engineering involved by All . 👍
Yea , but then you would have no room for the winch , that motor would stick out front even further than that ! 😁 These little cars are just built for a little fun , but I can't understand why they put them out without Atleast a J20a 2 Litre option and a larger capacity tank . They are pretty capable but unfortunately built to a market .
Jimmy's have always been built with durability, dependability and being featherweighted. The design philosophy has never taken power into consideration. The primary markets are Asia/South Asia where this is powerful enough. Australian market is basically a bonus for Suzuki, they are not building it for our needs. I can't question the decision-making, the powerplant is well established and reliable and it'd honestly be a huge step away from 5 decades of philosophy and legacy to whack a high power 2.0l in it. That being said it'd be cool if they tried it out, even just the 1.8l from the swift, detuned for low end torque.
And yet toyota made gutless 4x4's since the 80's . . . While they had access to these motors, it's almost like Suspension, gearing, reliability and driver skill is more important than a heavy right foot in hard off-roading . . .
10k plus a voided warranty on top of the donar car plus the necessary suspension upgrades - it’s a 50k proposition - love the concept but there are better options at that price.
@shaun1900 you have to reply properly coz we dunno who you're replying to! You will be surprised how capable and much much faster and corners and braking a Stock macan is over this junk! People take old cayenne properly brush bashing. That Suzuki is an embarrassment and they cleverly didn't touch the brakes or retrim the interior
The only reason we wont get one is the lack of power, its ok if you keep it 100% stock. But who is gonna do that? After driving one on a highway at 100kms and passing trucks, yeah nah. And the fuel economy is turd. Our swift sport is too good on fuel to swap out to one of these.
Yea , but then you wouldn't have the satisfaction of achieving this custom build with a limitless budget. That's all that this is about and is great advertising for our local accessory manufacturing .This guy already as his serious tourer , so why not ? Good on him , really well finished I say 👍
Really well engineered , but what about the vehicles GVM rating ? I'm tipping it's pushing it here . Regardless he did a fantastic job and hope it inspires others as to what Can Be Done , and gives local Accessories suppliers a bit of advertising . 👍
And the big kids that understand the work involved in the engineering and actually get their hands dirty ! Good on him , if you got the vision and money to burn - why not I say ! 👍
They are originally a 3 door, the rear section has been CHOPPED off to make the ute conversion including canopy setup. MAXTRAX channel has a video showing the process by AEP on this very build.

Great work Harrop especially for such a small car 😊

Be interesting to see what Fuel Economy it’s getting compared to stock, and does it run on standard unleaded or does it have to go up to 95 or 98?

For the price of the Jimnys this is what they should be off the factory floor.

probably bc most of the americans want bigger bc to them its better

do this on a 5 door jimny
Saving the $10800 odd dollars I believe it costs ...

Factory ECU which we reflash, retaining all functionality.

Total amount of money needed for this upgrade. Is it worth it. Certainly not my cup of tea
Buy a $800 barra throw it in will make more than the charged jimny
how you fitting a barra in a jimny? The rear of the engine would be resting against your left knee 🤣

Lol 95kW after mods
it is pretty sad I agree but from 55 stock to 95 is a solid jump
these vehicles are honestly a joke from factory, toyota had 100kw 1600 motors in the 80s!!...some 40 years later and sukuki still struggle!!
Yes would buy one but it's gutless and the engine is shocking for 2025 standards it should be binned. It's dangerous how underpowered this thing is
Considering they have had, a 1.8L in the Suzuki swifts.
