I bought nearly that same PC with a 9700k & in it when it came out. It was ~$2000 at the time just as the Rona was taking off. It was technically an r9. I'm still rocking that CPU in a completely new computer now because it overclocks like a beast. That's a whole lot of PC for $400. Similarly specced r9 and r10 machines are going for $600+ on ebay normally.
Can confirm that deal hunting will get you some crazy stuff. Won bids for a Thermaltake Toughpower GF A3 1200W for like 96 bucks and a R5 7600x for 180 bucks. Shipping tax included for both orders.
great deal, I would definitely add a second stick of RAM just because... 3700X is still a decent 8-core/16-thread CPU, clearly a good match with the 2080 super. And that power supply!!
I saw this deal yesterday and almost bought one. Glad I get to see it made it to your channel. Wish I had your budget to order pcs all the time, then again you guys resell them right?
Got my first gaming desktop on ebay for $540, ~$600 with shipping after I won the bid. Ryzen 9 5900x, 32gb of quad channel 3200mhz corsair rgb, RX 6750XT, NZXT AIO, 850W PSU. 1TB M.2 and 5TB HDD in total lol. Only bad thing was the side panel shattered during delivery so I rebuilt it in a used Corsair 4000d i got for $40. The previous case was Thermaltake V250. I transferred the fans as well.
Very happy with the performance since I come from gaming laptops in the previous 4 years. No overheating, barely any fan nose, no stutters. Runs most games on ultra smoothly.
Great find! I have built recent and comparable Gaming PCs that provide similar performance, and was approx. $450 for parts (all new). So, at $398, really good deal IMHO.
I’ve been seeing comments about first PCs, so thought I’d share :3 Mine had a Ryzen 5700X, RX6600XT, and 48GB DDR4. Nowadays I have a Ryzen 7600X, RX7800XT, and 32GB DDR5, it’s been a hell of a glow up, especially for a VR rig
Just to answer some questions in the video, I bought a Alienware aurora r7 a few years ago, I don’t recall what gpu it had come with, but it did have a modular 850w power supply, (still have in my build to this day), a i5-8400, ended up getting a 1080 ti I ran for quite some time, ended up swapping cases, the motherboard is definitely proprietary. I tried to run it in my new build, ended up needing a whole new mother board, & I upgraded cpu aswell. I’m now running 3070 ti / i5-12400f, still same 850w power supply, but it was a solid starting build to get into pcs. I paid $200 for it.
in June of 22 my old system was getting too long in the tooth and I snagged a new Aurora R10 for just under $2g. This thing kicks ass with a Ryzen 7 5800x and a 3080. I hear a lot of hate about Alienware and a lot of TH-cam reviewers detest them just because they hate Dell. I play every game with Ultra settings and it's been a good system. right around 15800 in Time Spy. What helped was nuking & paving the SSD and reinstalling win11 from a clean image and getting rid of the Dell bloatware though. The RGB is a steady blue now instead of being customizable. Oh well
I have a 40 series GPU in a PCIe-3 system. The drawbacks are insignificant. The reverse is similar: the RTX-2080S wouldn't have benefited much if it had a PCIe-4 interface. The only improvement the system needed was the dual channel RAM, but only for specific workloads. PS: Alienware case designs always favor looks instead of airflow, this one seems a bit "crowded". If I had a system like this one I would jump through a few hoops for a case swap.
I don’t know if you guys know, but there’s a Walmart that’s near me in Michigan that is selling pc parts, Intel and ryzen chips, a few graphics cards, motherboards and even ram (DDR4 and 5). No pc cases though. Don’t know if that would be a god video for you guys!
You guys should make dual channel RAM the standard on all benchmarks. A single stick of DDR4 is too cheap to not deem a must with these older PCs. It would also be helpful to always address whether or not these Alienwares include proprietary mobos since they are notorious for doing so. Love your guys's channel though you're the go-to budget gaming PC source.
I own the Alienware Triad Desktop. They don't make them anymore. I will probably never buy another Alienware tower again as you can't upgrade the internals. The motherboard and the LED controllers can't be modified. I love my case, but I want a Z890 motherboard, 15900k and 5090 with a 1000W PSU. I can't fit ANY OF THAT in this case.
I'm thankful to my parents since they gave me a lesson when I was young. I always wanted one of these alienware but it was so expensive. My parents gave me half of how much the desktop was worth and I was still able to buy a more decent performing system than the one I wanted. 😅

You don’t want nothing to high end in it because it’ll get too hot. I had one of these with a 5800 and a 6800xt and my gpu ran hot if you was working it. I took the cpu and gpu and put them in a regular pc and the temps was fine. My wife still uses that one. I put a 5600x and a 6600 in the R 10 and it was fine.
this year alone i managed to pick up an Alienware with a i7 10700f, rtx 2060, 16gb, 2633hz ram, and 1tb hdd for 300, and an Alienware with a 3080, ryzen 9 5900, for 650.

Sorry for noob question, what program do you use when you display the CPU Temp/GPU Temp and FPS that's overlay when you're testing games on rigs you've built/purchased?
MSI Afterburner and RivaTuner. MSI Afterburner by default will show stats on the software for gpu, and allow overclocking and custom fan curves. With RivaTuner Statistic Server installed and running as well, you open up a bunch more functionality in MSI Afterburner options for on screen overlays as depicted in the above video and beyond.

I tried to configure one on ebay. 399 seems to be barebones before gpu/cpu/windows
Those configure listings are not worth it, the deals are in these one offs
my desktop PC I get 10 fps to 20 in br and I have 12 gb ram clocked at 2400 and I5 core 10500 I am getting a gtx 1050 ti is it a good upgrade from no gpu
Could you also try RDR2 on the tests? That game is really hard on graphics also.
I know what else is cooking: 2060 super.
yikes I didn't realize just how much of a markup they do on their pc selling business
It's even worse when you see the quality of their cut-down OEM video cards sometimes.
Wow 400$ for that tier of pc is a STEAL!
Well technically although u got a 2080 super u also got a 3700x which is a downgrade from what the listing said in the title because it stated the 3800x
I just got a 3070 Ti and i7-12700 16gb ram for only $906 and it normally would cost about $1400
3070ti, the worst 3xxx card.
@@SwingArmCity and why is that?
@@masontheduck2277 worst value to performative. Just like the 4060ti is in the 4xxx lineup
@@SwingArmCity oh well does what i need it to do so its fine for me 👍
@masontheduck2277 only 8 gb vram lame lame. Don't bother playing games in 1440 ultra and forget 4k. Nvidia is greedy
Alien Ware is waaayyyy overpriced
all of the late 20teens alienware pcs had a similiar internal layout i hated them
Thats crazy i bought the same one on ebay😭
Tell that to the guy who complains about not being able to find deals
8:32 bojack reference?
Let me guess the price y’all’s gonna be selling it for. so y’all bought it for 398 right so about 400 im gonna say your selling it for around 6 to 700?
how much is that RTX 2080 worth?
Around $200 give or take $20, this was a solid deal even if it has a proprietary parts
