    Hope you all enjoy the film. I heard back from VW yesterday and my suspicions about the 'Chassis' option within the Individual mode were (thankfully) correct. It does indeed subtly adjust the settings for the XDS and VAQ.

      @Ryan St totally agree. But for me manufacturers cannot guarantee it will work perfectly all the time. You start the car and it takes 2 minutes to boot up on occasion. Other times it glitches out while you are driving, or blacks out and resets. Don’t forget in -30 winters it takes forever to warm up and condensation and fog appear IN the screen. Yes that happens. I have seen it and not in just my car.

      @@RCXDerp Sounds like you don't know anything about this platform. Reliability is stout tuned or not. You don't need to order anything from Germany. Your local VW or Audi dealer's parts dept have most things and you have OE sellers like FCP and Rockauto. It seems like a waste to me if you're gonna get a GTI and NOT tune it. It absolutely shits on the "competition".
      Keep in mind our MQB powertrains are shared across a massive range of cars.. from the Polo all the way to the Atlas or whatever the big heavy cars are. GTIs are heavily sandbagged.

    • @PapiAndrey

      Stock Mk8 Gti does 100-200kph half a second faster than a stock i30N.
      Both cars were 6MT and had the same driver.
      Everybody knows VW/Audi underrate their hp/torque figures, especially when they are turbocharged.
      The Gti is more similar to the i30N than a Veloster N, but I get it.
      Now as far as the Civic Type-R, you would need a Gti Clubsport to compete.

    • @anaswarjayakumar852
      @anaswarjayakumar852 3 ปีที่แล้ว +6

      @@PapiAndrey I just wish VW bought more engaging versions of the GTI to the States. The GTI is still fun no doubt but like the 911 its been so refined over the years to the point where its completely lost its engaging feel that it once had. And I wish VW did more from the factory to make it fun to drive. The Clubsport and higher trims of the GTI seem to be the more engaging GTis but sadly we dont get those in the States

      What the hell is a “sportier” version of a GTI ? The GTI is the hot hatch / sport version of a regular Golf. The Clubsport isn’t some special model like a Golf R, just a special edition of a GTI. Nonetheless, doesn’t mean the Clubsport version doesn’t need a manual. And to say it’s a track car, well the regular GTI can also blaze a track if needed. You don’t buy a regular GTI over a Golf for carrying groceries. I own a 2016 GTI performance package, 3-door, 6 speed. I sold my MK5 GTI Fahrenheit edition cuz it was DSG and was boring, unreliable and not any faster on my local tracks. None of us get paid to win races, and so, we don’t stop living for ourselves. I did the CDV, heavier shift knob and upgraded clutch on my MK7, and with just good tires and brakes, it’s an absolute track star. The MK8 so far seems like a disappointment compared to the MK7 so far then. Some people complain about a manual being terrible in traffic, while others claim it’s terrible on track. So let’s just us all give up the fun right ? Why the hell should everyone want a Miata ? The MK7 GTI I bought was because I didn’t like the latest Miata and Focus ST. Miatas are overrated. And so are fancy gearboxes.

      I love my MK7 GTI 6spd manual, especially coped with my IS38 turbo, custom tune w/NLS and boost by gear. When I’m banging gears, it’s a blast, especially with the short shifter and knob setup I have in it, but I absolutely cannot stand how weak the OEM clutches are! Even the aftermarket clutches don’t last long, even if you get them to hold the power you have in the car. It a joke tbh. I’ve gone through 2 DKM clutches. Why is this? So lame.
      I’ve got to a point to where if I got another GTI, I would get a DSG only for this reason. Now if VW made their OEM clutches stronger, and with better longevity for those who tune their cars, I would get another manual. But I absolutely don’t want to go through clutches again with a new GTI. Kind of sucks.

    Great video. The lack of manual box would kill it for me (really not a fan of DSGs), and the touch screens wouldn't help either. Would take a manual mk7 GTI instead. No, would in fact take a mk5 GTI and have some actual steering feel in the mix.

    I wish you could get special cars, like GTI, without all these nonsense screens. Like a kind of an option when you customise your car - "no, I do not want a TV in my car, I just want a car". And GTI deserves analogue rev and speed counter. I miss times when cars were machines not computers on wheels. It is lazy engineering, IMO...
    And one more comment, this time on a video. My favourite episode of Top Gear, of all time, is the one with Jeremy presenting Disco Volante. I literally watch it every month or so. Why do I mention it? Because I sense the similar style of the mixture between car review and art in every Carfection video. Thank you!
