I know what you mean about the cost of equipment. It’s hard to emboss without a die cutting & embossing machine, which usually is a one time cost of about $150 - $200 if you’re in the US.
Hello, I’m new to your channel. I so love the vellum on your card! 🥰 I’ve been looking at a few embossing/die cut machines. What do you have and recommend?
@@bikercherrygirl Hi! Thanks so much for your kind words! 🥰 I have a couple of machines - an electronic Gemini Jr. for days when my arthritis acts up, but I prefer to use a Spellbinders Platinum 6 manual machine, especially for embossing because it gives me more control over the pressure I apply on vellum. Vellum tends to crack during embossing, so I prefer the manual machine for that along with using a piece of card stock behind the vellum when embossing. I hope that helps.
@@handmadecardsbytoni thank you so very much. I’ve not heard of those machines. Now I’m going to have to research them! I certainly don’t want to mess up the vellum. That would get frustrating.
I use Hammermill 110 lbs for card panels and die cutting and Neenah Solar White 110 lbs. for card bases although I mostly use pre-scored card bases and envelopes.
I figured it out -- cut the enbossed vellum paper a bit larger than then underlying flower paper -- scored the vellum at the edge of the flower paper at the top and bottom and turned it under and pasted it on the back of the flower paper. I left the two sides unglued -- PERFECT! What a beautiful card -- Thank you so much! Now I've got to make tons of these! My imagine is going crazy!
Hi. Perfect! That’s another way of doing it. But for my card I left my vellum floating and attached it behind the sentiment with foam dots. I wanted the separation created by the foam dots to diffuse the pattern paper a little more. I’m so glad you were inspired to try this technique. I love working with vellum.
Mine cracked as well but it wasn’t too bad. :( I’m yet to find something that doesn’t crack at all and I’ve tried three different brands. I was using the heavyweight vellum from Simon Says Stamp.
