The same thing happened to my magnetic mat. Not happy with it either; plus it seems a little thicker. Thank you for sharing your video; it was very informing and I;'m saving it for future reference.
I’m so sorry to hear about your magnetic mat. I hope they fix the issues and come up with a better alternative. And thank you so much for your kind words and for taking the time to share your experience. ❤️
Lovely cards! Thanks for sharing

Please please no music
Thanks for the feedback. Noted for my future videos. 😊
This is so well done! Thanks for sharing these tips! 😍
Thanks so much, Mona! So kind of you to stop by! ❤️😍
Love the cards. Please stop using background music. It’s distracting. I’m here to learn.
Thanks for the feedback. My next couple of videos are done already but I’ll keep it in mind for the future.
@@handmadecardsbytonithough I’m a music lover I find I can’t think as well with background noise … from videos to my own craft room … it has to be fairly quiet or off my mind goes!!! lol By the way I absolutely admire you for how kind snd informative you are in your comments and answers. I have learned so so much from the video and all the comments from the gals!! Thumbs up to you! These techniques are AWESOME!!
Thanks so much! That’s so kind of you. ❤️ I’m fairly new to content creation on TH-cam and still learning about what works and what I need to improve. I’m always open to constructive feedback. 😀 And I’m a music lover as well and I always need to have music in the background whether I’m crafting, reading or working. So it’s really interesting to hear other perspectives instead of using myself as the benchmark. I assumed everyone must enjoy background music. Lol
Beautiful cards and you’re sharing such useful information and techniques. Thank you so much.
Thanks so much for your kind words. And I’m so glad you’re finding the tips useful. Maybe you’ll like a few more vellum techniques I recently shared in this video, if you’re interested: 3 Vellum Card Techniques You MUST Learn Before 2025 #vellum #embossing th-cam.com/video/0cTBeWAPPIo/w-d-xo.html
Beautiful cards!❤
Thanks so much! ❤️
Well done.
Thank you! 😊
I have a gemini 2 and the plates immediately warp. I only craft 2 times a week and don't always die cut. I emailed them explaining I was buying a new set monthly and was a very dissatisfied customer. They didn't care. Jennifer mcguire and Cathy Z won't say bad things, but it is the comments that they make when talking about the Empress that are telling... paraphrasing, I like machines that won't warp my plates quickly. I wish I had known what they meant before spending so much money. You said it without being nasty and probably saved people a lot of money. GEMINIS ARE A RIP OFF.
Hi Linda. I hear ya loud and clear about the Gemini cutting plates. Actually, none of my mats lasted beyond a few cuts - magnetic shim, metal shim, and even the embossing mat ended up in shreds. :( At that point, I got the regular Magic Mat from Scrapbook.com and was able to eliminate the need for shims, etc. But the cutting plates needed to be replaced again. That's when I found a crafter recommending these plates by Craft First and I couldn't be happier. I've used them for several months now without any significant warping. If you'd like to check them out, this is the one: amzn.to/4ghKWc1. I hope you try them out. It's so disappointing when products you spend so much money on don't turn out as expected.
Lots of really good ideas! Pretty cards!
Thanks a lot. Glad you liked them.
I sometimes add color by applying the pad directly to th paper
Yes that’s a great idea and I do that too. But I try keep the ink application light on vellum since it takes longer to dry.
Beautiful cards
Thanks so much! ❤️😊
Very Beautiful! Thanks for the tips
Thanks so much! I'm so glad you liked the tips!
Loved the cards, great ideas 😀
Thanks so much for stopping by! Glad you liked them. 😀
Was just watching you for the first time when you showed your magnetic mat. I use only manual machines and mine did the same thing. It started with small air bubbles where the adhesive was failing. Two more die passes and it was looking like yours. Sad!
Thanks for sharing your experience! So, it's not just electric machines. I hope they fix the problem because it would be so useful to have a good magnetic mat!
I had a similar experience.
Sad! 😢😢
Stunning cards, especially the wedding card. Thank you for all the tips. Was thinking about ordering the magnetic mat but I have a Sizzix Switch which is very tight, so was interested to see your outcome with the Gemini. Thank you for a lovely video and have a beautiful day xx
Thanks so much for the appreciation, Mandy. So kind of you! ❤️ I forgot to mention an additional point in the video - the grip isn't as good with intricate dies. The magnet isn't probably strong enough for smaller surface areas presented by intricate dies. These mats were meant for the Gemini Jr. If an electric machine isn't ideal, I would have expected to see a disclaimer for it. Maybe it needed some more testing. Oh well! :) Have a beautiful day too! xx
I've never had my inks dry on vellum. How long did you wait until it was thoroughly dry? Your cards are beautiful!! Thank you for sharing
Hi Connie. I let my vellum be for about 20 mins or so. But if you have a sticky mat to stick the vellum on, you can use a heat tool or hair dryer on low heat from afar. It dries in a few minutes. So glad you liked the cards. Thanks for the kind words. I have another video with 5 more vellum techniques. You’ll find the link in the pinned comment.
I must be doing something wrong. Even overnight my vellum doesn't dry. Thanks again@@handmadecardsbytoni
@@conniefossi1327 I doubt you can do anything wrong with vellum. What kind of ink do you use? Do you live in a humid area? These factors could be the reason behind the drying challenges.
Distress oxide, versafine, I live in California
That’s really strange! I don’t know if you’re near the coast, but maybe try a hair dryer next time? It’s really puzzling.
WOW!! Those cards are so beautiful and elegant! I have used vellum much at all. I will now!! Thanks for sharing and all the tips and tricks!!
Thanks so much, Michele! You have to try vellum. I guarantee you’ll fall in love with it. I’d love to see what you create, so please feel free to tag me on Instagram or Facebook.
great tips!
Thank you 😊
Rub the back of vellum with a tealight candle or a small amount of beeswax to condition the fibres before embossing. It will help other cardstock too but is essential with vellum. You will also get much better results if you colour the back with oil pastels instead of ink, and use Zest it, or suchlike to blend. This is because vellum will buckle if you use water based products. Lovely cards.
Hi Lillia. Thanks so much for sharing your tips with me. I’d never heard of them before but I’m looking forward to trying them out. I’d love to showcase them in another video sometime and credit you. Would you be okay with that? Thanks for stopping by! ❤️
Thanks, although it is not my original idea, I'm a traditional parchment art enthusiast. Where we trace designs onto parchment/vellum with fine nib mapping pens and ink, not the Groovi templates that create a thick bold line. We have all used this technique for years. Some say now to use a tumble dryer sheet, but in Europe most of them have health warnings on the box , and they trigger asthma attacks for me, so I prefer the good old beeswax or candle.
@@Cre8tiveConnexionsbyLillia I learned something new. I didn’t know about this art form either. Sounds very interesting.
I should add there is absolutely nothing wrong with the way you coloured the vellum, I just wanted to share an alternative, especially if you wanted more colour. With oil pastels , fold some kitchen roll into a triangle and roll up to make a pointy end to help blend. One stroke of pastel can go a long way. Paper stumps help blend oil pastels in small areas too. I watched your other video. Good idea to wrap vellum and glue behind a panel. For the notecard one, the traditional method would be to put vellum over a piece of foam and perforate 3 small holes in the spine with a fine single needle tool/pokey tool. You can then use some nice metallic thread/ embroidery floss to sew the vellum and insert, placing the bow outside or inside as you prefer. Due to rising costs of paper, we changed to just using vellum for the front panel, a common technique now is to attach with either making a cross stitch in each corner, punch photo corners with slots, or use mini brads.
Of course! I love the idea of the alternatives! I’m always looking for ideas and I’m definitely going to try this in the new year once I’m back to my crafting. And it may not be your original idea but I learned about it from you. 😀 Thanks so much for the detailed instructions on the vellum stitching as well. See, I hadn’t even thought about that alternative either and this could be so pretty when done on a card. I’ll surely try it out as well and showcase it in a video. It’s all about sharing and learning from each other. ❤️🙏🏽

How do you glue the vellum to the floral card stock?
I used foam dots behind the vellum where the label will hide them to glue it down. I have more ideas for gluing vellum in this video: th-cam.com/video/sjl817EC8CY/w-d-xo.htmlsi=nUassFkU_3qHYhfU I hope that helps.
Where did U get the storage sheet with the protection on them, where U kept the die cut, what r the sheets called please? Xx
Hi. I got it on Amazon: amzn.to/3ZTYsNm
These are really beautiful cards! Hard to choose a favorite, but I love the black one and the orange ones because they are unique.
Thanks so much for the kind words. Actually, the black one is my favourite as well. ❤️
great ideas!
