I’m sorry I hate to disparage people but can you find someone to talk about a subject that doesn’t sound like a sorority girl telling us about her plans for spring break. Also when you have an upward inflection at the end of every sentence it makes everything sound like a question so it seems that you don’t know what you’re talking about.
Katie, you're probably a lovely person, but I don't think I can listen to you discussing this. You don't have enough inflection in your voice. It's not bright enough. The narrator has done a much better job. But I'm happy and impressed that you did this research.
Your reporter forgot to add that she bills over a billion dollars (Partners Health system in Boston MA paid $ 1.2 B) for most Epic installations, essentially bankrupting most Health systems & hospitals where Epic is installed. The closest competitor, Cerner's EHR costs 10% of what she charges for Epic. She also forgot to add that Judy is arrogant enough to pick the CIOs where they will install Epic, instead of the other way around, where clients pick software. She also forgot to say that last year, when the US Dept of Health & Human Svcs (HHS) brought out Interoperability laws, she immediately figured that Epic would have to interface with other software and its interfaces would be known, so she immediately asked several of her client companies to co-sign a letter opposing that law (so that Epic would continue to maintain its control & hold). That's the real Judy Faulkner. The fact is this interview is also most likely her image-building agenda, where she is trying to improve her image after her opposition to the Interoperability law and your foolish journalists are giving her the space to do so!
I'm not a Judy apologist but this is a dumb comment. 1) Those gaudy implementation numbers include not just Epic fees but rather the entire hospital tech modernization process. 2) In the early days Epic chose hospitals that would be a good fit for the software to ensure customer success, not arrogance. With Epic you pay for the best in class, no gimmicks.
