Yes I just showed the final bury . But if your interested you can get some instructions or videos online. It's cool being able to splice your own gear. Thanks for watching brother.👊
Have you researched fusion products? I use a couple biners of theirs & after purchasing i decided to research. There is NOTHING on the inter web about the company....kind of strange. Ive enjoyed my biners, but its wierd to have NO company info. I actually bought mine from a arborist supply store so i figured they were legit, but ...... Good vid.
Yeah I'm not sure about the fusion product information. But the rings are rated and I have rigged some big pieces with them. The only fusion stuff I have is the rings and snap hooks they seem high quality. Thanks for watching brother👊
I have a fusion saddle I use. Weird I just got it from a guy basically brand new but the bridge setup was SOB RP20- 40kn rings on a eye to hitch cord- rings on each end. Literally found a website and it says all the saddles were custom made and the one I had came with suspenders built into the saddle. It had a lot of Ds making me to believe it was more a harness versus a saddle for arborist work..leg straps were small as well but back padding was comfy. Not enough attachment points for gear tho and only 2 gear loops. Guy had a CMI saw clip on so I just transferred the rings being they were like the Petzl ones with the bolt and put it all on my edge saddle. Wish I had a newer monkey beaver 2.0 but I'll never be able to afford it climbing for you don't even wanna know how much. I'll find the link to the site but this is a old comment I'm sure you have moved on to better things! Friction savers tho chicken rings are my favorite check them out on YT with blue moon behind them lol later
Hi poplar mechanic, that cross over was tuff one! I thought maybe you were going to start up the truck! LOL. Yes some ropes can be almost impossible to splice. I really like your video on slicing the rigging rings. Ty for your efforts in making this video. Did say that you are in So Ont?0k merry Christmas 🇨🇦🇺🇸🇲🇽4ever
Great video, can you reference the splicing instructions you are using? I am trying a splice on the Sterling Scion which has a similar inner core but am struggling with it. Thanks
Yes if you use the soft fid it makes ropes like this much easier. Also if you are having trouble with a bury you can always hook the wire fid to something, hold the rope and give it a sharp snap. Here are the instructions I refer to. www.splicesbynick.com/splicingdirections And here is a video that helped me greatly. m.th-cam.com/video/UghIS9xdiDw/w-d-xo.html In those first instructions you will see what to do if you have a small 3rd inner core.
Ok so if you cut the middle strands out I wouldn't worry too much but there is a correct way to do it, it comes out at the cross over, ill leave a link to the site download the tachyon pdf sites.google.com/a/splicesbynick.com/www/splicingdirections
I’m just getting into splicing and after watching a few videos that made it look really easy it’s nice to see that in reality it can be a bit tougher (I’m struggling with the bury part on a cheap 10mm marine rope). My question though: what kind of pen are you using for marking the rope? Wondering if I should be worried about harsh chemicals in the ink of sharpies etc. since you seem to have a bit more hands on and long term experience an opinion would be appreciated. Thanks for the vid and cheers from the entertainment rigging side of the rope ;-)
I do use sharpie just because that's what I had at the time, In addition to that I know it will stay on the rope and not rub off while I'm working. I'm sure there is some type of special pen but the reality is anything will work. I dont believe a sharpie would effect the integrity of the rope. Hope that helps and good luck, I had alot of failed splices, Its alot of technique and practice. I'm still not a pro but I can do it everytime now.
The joke about anchoring to a Ford has me dying every time I watch this video. Great job.
Haha thanks man, have a merry Christmas 🤙

@@PoplarMechanic Thanks!! You make it look easy with that soft fid, gonna get one ordered up.
We have been using this technique for 20 years at Yale cordage. Using just the hollow braid and wire fid.
Well you got mad skills my friend 👊
Nice splicing video! I have hard enough time with my three strand. Watch them Ford comments ramaroni 😂😂👍
Lol we have ford's at work I just thought it would be funny, Thanks for watching brotha 👊
