    Ahha! I need a pusher for my Fid! I have been using miles of painters tape holding rope in my fids and occasionally pulling an empty fid out of the other end. BTW I made two Ultra Slings with yoru tutorial video, thank you for sharing sir!

      Ya splicing is one of those things you need the tools for. Also I ordered some tenex to do the ultra sling on the single ring. So I'll do a video on that to. Stay safe man 👊

    Thanks for Sharing man that is A VERY good looking eye I think it's bad ass you splice your own stuff.
    I want to learn how to splice but I still don't understand how a splice works meaning what holds the eye from undoing it self when in heavy use . All in all though really good video .👍🏼
    😄😂 I dont think the boss is going to appreciate the laundry in the back ground of the video man lol . Stay safe

    • @PoplarMechanic
      @PoplarMechanic  5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Lmao the boss wont watch it I hope 😁 and if you ever practice a splice you will understand how it works. When under load it acts like a chinese finger trap, theres no way its comming undone. If you break test a splice it brakes well below the splice at the taper not even at the eye. Just look up break testing eye splice on youtube, Richard Mumford does some good videos. Does the lock stitch need a plastic cover on it?

    • @PoplarMechanic
      @PoplarMechanic  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      No, the lock stitch actually doesn't do much, it just keeps it in place under light loads, once its settled in its pretty much redundant, ive heard people say worn out lock stitching caused their rope to start pulling out but I call bs on that 😆 anyway its important to lock stitch but a cover is not required.

    👍🏻 thanks for the video like the idea useing harness too..
    U have had to akimbo for a while now right? I’m assuming you played around with the settings a bit. have u come up with rule of thumb Method for fine tuneing it like what changeing the top vs bottom adjustment affects what action/personality?

    • @PoplarMechanic
      @PoplarMechanic  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Well it really depends on the rope, And your weight, I mainly use it on xstatic, I cant remember the exact settings but the main thing is you dont want it to creep and you dont want it to be hard to release. I have a few different climb lines now I will do a video about it. I'm doing the zigzag plus review next though, Hope that helps, it's kinda like friction cords different for everyone. Stay safe man 👊

    • @jeremyrosenahagen4577
      @jeremyrosenahagen4577 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Awesome I just got the akimbo so will be playing with it. your first impressions review u seem to have it somewhat figured out like it came naturally to you. Will be waiting and watching for both videos. I been wondering about the zig zag plus too so can’t wait.

    • @PoplarMechanic
      @PoplarMechanic  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@jeremyrosenahagen4577 I hope you like the akimbo as much as I do! And yes I will do a follow up on the akimbo and the zigzag plus will come soon. Just dont use the akimbo in really sappy trees it sucks with pitch, a really wet rope has a similar effect but you can adjust it to compensate.

    Do you test your splices? Im interested in splicing up an end for an ajustable friction saver. But I worry that as my first time splicing double braid that this might kill me

    • @PoplarMechanic
      @PoplarMechanic  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      As long as you did the splice correctly its highly unlikely it will come apart, I lock stitched mine but yes I've tested these extensively, basically I got these splices from new England ropes.
