      I was scared for life of needles. Didnt go to the doctor for 10 years. Then I got sick and really had to go to the doctor and take some tests.
      It don't hurt at all. And the relief after the blood test after years and years of fear felt like heaven.
      The weeks later I took 4 bloodtests without even blinking an eye.

    • @TheMixUK
      @TheMixUK  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi there,
      It may be that a blood test for STIs is the same type of blood test for checking other medical problems. However, it could be a finger prick test. You might want to read this article on STI testing: www.brook.org.uk/your-life/getting-tested-for-stis/
      Even though you have passed out from blood tests, it’s still important to get any potential STIs checked out. You can also let the doctor/nurse know that you have passed out as they will be able to help you more, if that happens again.

      Hey there,
      I did some digging and found this FAQ www.sunderlandsexualhealth.nhs.uk/about-us/frequently-asked-questions#:~:text=How%20accurate%2Freliable%20are%20the,infection%20is%20called%20%27reactive%27.
      It states that no test is 100% accurate and that it can take some time for STIs to show up on a test. However, if you are concerned about a test result, it’s best to speak with your healthcare provider.
      All the best,

      Thank you for your question, in the UK everyone can get free STD tests from their GP or a sexual health clinic, there are also websites and retailers that offer self-testing free kits as well. However, in some private clinics you may have to pay. We have a FAQ article about sexual health clinics as well for more information www.themix.org.uk/sex-and-relationships/safer-sex/faq-visiting-a-gum-clinic-4668.html - The Mix Team

    I have a question. Is there any way to not transmit STIs to someone, or is it present in your sperm forever? If I have it in my sperm, can I remove it or be cured of it with a medical test or medicine?

    • @TheMixUK
      @TheMixUK  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hey there,
      Do you want to clarify what you meant by ‘the thing’?
      As the video states, if you are having unprotected sex, especially if it’s with more than one person, and you are concerned about sexually transmitted infections, then it’s good to visit a clinic to get tested. You’ll be asked questions about your sexual activity before having the actual tests. For more information feel free to check out our FAQ article on visiting a GUM clinic www.themix.org.uk/sex-and-relationships/safer-sex/faq-visiting-a-gum-clinic-4668.html

      +lynsays channal Most STIs are very treatable - Chlamidia, Gonorrhea and Syphilis are treated by a short simple course of tablets much in the same way as you would treat a chest infection or tonsillitis.; If you do get the news that you have HIV, it is also very manageable using medical treatment. It's not something to get too worried about

    • @TheMixUK
      @TheMixUK  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi there,
      It seems to be there are multiple tests for different STIs, as opposed to one test for everything. This may also mean that to there is a separate test for HIV. However, our article on visiting a GUM clinic www.themix.org.uk/sex-and-relationships/safer-sex/faq-visiting-a-gum-clinic-4668.html states that “HIV testing is routinely offered in most GUM clinics. You may want to have one depending on your concerns and sexual history. You will probably be referred to a sexual health adviser to discuss this issue further or to answer any questions you may have.”
      If you have further questions and you are in the UK, and under 25, feel free to join our discussion boards community.themix.org.uk/ for a safe place to chat and get support from other young people.
      Take care,

      If you have a discharge from your genitals, in addition to the urine test the clinician might take a swab using a Q-tip. Or they might need to swab your throat too if it looks infected.
      For hepatitis and HIV, they have to take a blood sample.

    If the HIV screening came back positive one week after having had unprotected VAGINAL sex, it would mean this hypothetical patient already had already been infected well before having had unprotected sex with these TWO hypothetical females.
    The practitioner should have counseled this patient about his behavior.
