I say "TV stand", but my TV is mounted on the wall and I'm using this for my audio equipment only. In any case, it would make a very capable TV stand - the top is solid 1" thick ash along with sides of the cabinet. I used three 8" wide boards to make the top and sides and the grain is continuous across the mitered corner joints. The centre section is made from two 6" ash boards and a hunk of thick walnut. The shelves are actually arms that cantilever out from the middle and being open promotes better ventilation. I say 5 boards in the title because the walnut was an optional upgrade. I could have used the offcut ends from the ash boards to make those parts by gluing two thicknesses together. The top / sides is one piece and it lifts off of the centre section so that I can hook everything up. The dimensions: 21" high x 21" deep x 43" long.
Uma Thurman, "something something biscket joints bad", it should be a crime to have a tablesaw sled that simply... what other standard reply tropes am I missing?
@@TheScottyDoList Got the green pencil added to my Amazon shopping cart for next time. Also, and I don't know if you know this, I was looking for a place on the stand to add a handle or two. Apparently they are the bees knees for spider repellant.

Recently I had the opportunity to use a sliding miter saw for the first time and my eyes were opened! I need one for my shop, and this video reminded me of it, so I paused this video and bought your plans for the saw station.
I was showing a buddy of mine your videos last night. How it's so cool that you've made most of your tools. His reply to me was about how you're using pricey wood. People just don't know quality when they're looking right at it. Some peoples' kids, man.
That outtake at the end startled me. Hopefully nothing got damaged. I like the clean look of the finished piece, it looks so simple but it's really well designed.
Your shop is looking very well organized with your work bench, vices, dogs and jigs. Normally I am not a fan of "wood grain" but your TV stand with the matching grains is exceptional.
"And here he's using polyurethane construction adhesive." Some of the best long miter work I've ever seen, John. I'm definitely inspired to get rid of the chipboard cube shelf that my TV is currently hanging above.
I was getting sweaty palms when you had the rotary sander along the face by the 45 degree cut. I pictured myself rocking the sander over that sharp lip and ruining the join. Looks great + well done!
Ash can be really lovely. In about 5 years it's going to be so rare. Colours worked really nicely, John. Interesting how easily those clamp blocks can be knocked free of the piece.
Excellent viewing experience. Builds like this one are quite nice to watch just how you made this video. No music, talking, or voice over... Depending on what I'm working on, more and more often I'm finding myself with the radio off and enjoying the subtle sounds that are produced by the work itself. I appreciate the variety you strive for in your video making. Nice piece. Great work.
This video really showcases how great your workbench is. I might need to convert our master bedroom into a garage so I have somewhere to put it after I build it.
It sounded like something broke off when it fell from the bench during sanding, but it still turned out great. The dark grain towards the back of the unit just does it for me.
Nice to see a cabinet build, good looking material and design. Damn, those miters look sharp! I cnc’d miters on a smaller project, they were better than tablesaw (but im not very experienced at tablesaw). Can dowels be substituted for dominoes on miters. Great way to clamp the miters.
Great job. Perhaps a dumb question, but when you placed the angled pieces with glue on the sides of the project to use for anchors to clamp the mitered corners with biscuits/glue, did you just use normal wood glue or was it a special kind that released easy under pry pressure? I feel like if I let that dry long to enough to be strong enough to be used as clamping anchors, I'd tear out the wood when I tried to chisel them off. Thanks!
@@MandoFettOG Quite possibly. I'd just hate to go that far into a basically finished project/surface only to take a chunk out of one of my sides because I used the wrong product or let it dry too long, etc. Assumed it was something easily answered but, maybe not.
i hope your onkyo doesnt have the same issues mine had. haha. pain in the ass that was. changed to a denon now and much nicer experience. im amazed you can handle silver and white separates, would drive me crazy haha. nice work tho. beautiful craftsmanship again
I don't know if I'm missing something or if this is something that you do normally put in your videos and I have just never caught it before now. But at 28 seconds there's a woman's reflection in your saw blade. I saw it right off the bat and was like "WHAT DID I JUST SEE???" Then rewound it and paused it a few times to make sure lol.
Lovely solid wood unit John, love the grain match round the mitred ends. Sadly most people wouldn't even notice, not that it matters to you. Greetings from Western Australia.
I noticed you tend to mill most of the lumber you use. Do you have any tips on reducing planer snipe as it seemed like you were able to use the full board length after the fact.
Passing the boards through one after the other as John does, will reduce snipe. Use a sacrificial board or offcut (or a board that has yet to be cut to length) before and after the first and last pieces.

Idea for video make a tv wall mount bracket
@@ionpopescu4303 Sure... That's how it works...
Pro editing, the reflection in the blade at :28. Love it!
I thought I was seeing things!
I had to go back and double check. I think it's Ashley Kazon from SAW.
Edit: everyone else is right it's Scarlett Johansson.
@@jamesb7290 lol, now I got it, 😊
@Charles Brainard I thought it was her too, but it's not.
That the ex-wife?
I have to say, that chop saw work centre is a thing of beauty.
Edit: Everything you produce is art.
No words needed. Your hands tell the whole story. You truly are an artist. I LOVE IT!
From my experience being a sporadic woodworker- what I find most fascinating is his calmness..... his Zen like work ethic is enviable !

IT must be very satisfying to work in a shop built completely of your design and construction.

I agree, the cornered miters was epic! Thanks for sharing John, always a pleasure to watch you create. I learn something new every time!

Its very inspiring to see you work Jhon, also to see you use self made tools that are exteemely well made and useful! Thank you and congrats!
Cool build! That edit at 28-30secs in was Badass! Haha!
That's a sweet build, the face in the miter was cool....didnt know you could biscuit corners,Thanks!
I like the face of the woman in the saw blade to. Wonder if that his wife. Also wonder how many people noticed it.
@0:28, very funny John. She's one of my favorites too.

I liked the Scarlet Johansen homage in the blade lmao!
Using a soda straw to pick up excess glue was genius!
I saw that too. I watched it like 5 times bc I thought I was crazy. Well done sir. Well done
Always amazed by your design and build talents. Your home made table saw is amazing, as well.
a real beauty
I like how you put the corners together. you are truly a Master
👍 awesome video John!
Glad you enjoyed it... again! :)
Looks fantastic. And those mitre joints; wow 👍
Great build and video to go with it. Thanks for sharing.
I'm running a bit behind watching your videos. Nicely done. A beautiful dance with only the wonderful music of the hands and tools! Exquisite!
Scarlet Johanson in the blade 👌

Fantastic build!!!
Sturdy! Looks nice, understated. Love the choice of ash.
Beautiful how all the wood grain aligns. Would love one in walnut if you’ve got another 13 minutes 😅
Nice job John.👍👍
Love your vids! Educational with a touch of FUNNY. You always make us smile!!!
Beautiful work John
Beautiful piece John!!!
Fantastic as always, thanks John!
Pretty beautiful work, John! It looks fantastic! 😃
Stay safe there with your family! 🖖😊
That was a great and enjoyable video
You need to add a sound effect for when you push the button to raise the bench dogs.
Tuned in to see how to add solid wood shelving to solid gables( cross grain). You fooled us again you sly fox. Cheers from Van Island.
Wish my saw blades had a hot ghost in it😩😩. Merry christmas John
I wish I had just a little bit of the talent that you have Sir.
Nice to see you doing some real wood working projects not just making clamps. Very nice project!
Beautiful work
I actually like the narration. I bet if you set up a poll, most would feel the same.

Cool. I have that same Yamaha amp. It was expensive 16 years ago
Very cool and simple
Very attractive furniture
Sir, you had me questioning my sanity had to go back 3 times than a 4th to show someone and laugh.
Who is that woman reflected in the saw blade at 0:29, John?
Using a straw to scoop up glue squeezeout is a brilliant hack
Hello John, I can learn a lot from you! I already master this (12:40) perfectly! 🤭
Very reflective!
👍😎😃🤘 Well done!!! Thanks John!!!!
0:29 - A reflection in the saw blade. Does John have a new "shop assistant"?
Yeh I thought I saw the image of a woman for one cut. Cool feature to include bystanders for elevated interest.
I might not comment often but that's a nice design and very nice work but the reflection in the blade freaked me out.
I must be out of touch, but I did not recognize that lovely ghost in the saw blade. Was that the Ghost in the Machine?
Was that Scarlett in the saw reflection?
Awesome build m8! missed the chatter but yeah.... and damn that fall...
That's more like it! Less talking just doing your job John"great skills"amazing projects!

Wondering the same thing. I suspect since it was end grain being glued down maybe that helped reduce the chance of chip out

Lucy in the Saw, with biscuits...
Nice build...
Was that a reflection of Meg Ryan watching you saw lumber? Where are her safety glasses?
How did you manage to sneak my wife over and back here without me knowing 😆
Nice!
Very nice
My amplifier requires so much space around the sides and top I couldn't put it in a enclosed space like that.
Well that sucks. I'll have to give the one I made for you to someone else.
How do you like your

Très chouette merci!
Looks good! and who is the face in the chop saw blade at the 28-29 second mark?
Was that "Anita Nail" goddess of woodworking at about 30 seconds in?
:28 seconds in. Do I see a half-dissolve of scarlett johansson on the saw blade???
the fact that at 6:26 we cut to under it and theres an unexplained red stain
Slide compound ?
Dang it! I saw Lucy again.
