My favouite pudding! My Mum used to use lemon zest in the recipe and then mix lemon juice into the hot syrup we were allowed to pour over it, heaven :)
Wow! Nice combo with the vanilla custard sauce! Hi Jamie, could you please teach us the difference between all the different sugars; like white sugar, muscavado, dark sugar, and so on. It would be really helpful. Thank you for the video. Happy Sunday evening!
Thankyou this is a great recipe to do if trying to save on energy bills ,looks a fantastic pudding I’m sure everyone in my household will love it ,making it tomorrow
Hey Jamie, love this recipe! Looks so unctuous and comforting. What can I use to replace suet? I just can't seem to find any available near me at all...
I know suet is traditional but if you can't get it, either proper beef suet or the vegetarian variety, or just don't want to use it, you can get away without using it, it won't be as stodgy without it yet if you want the stodginess, either swap a third of the self raising flour for plain flour or bread flour, or instead of that, add a couple of extra egg yolks and 2 tea spoons of corn flour or birds custard powder. Either way add extra butter to the mix aswell.
Golden syrup is a light treacle, and while corn syrup may have some similar properties, it won't taste the same as the real thing. If you have a British aisle in your local supermarket, I would treat myself to a tin of Lyle's Golden syrup - and some Ambrosia Devon custard - for a truly authentic experience!
Were those lard pellets? He called them suet. I didn't even know they made those! I've always wanted to try this. If I can figure out the lard pellets...I'll give it a go. Looks delish!😋
Just wondering as being Belgian and not grew up w/ steamed puddings… where can you get those classic pudding moulds/bowls I don’t know what to call them 😅❤
They have zero sugar subs for brown sugar and golden syrup now, have a look! No need to be left out with all the new stuff around, if your also worried about carbs in the flour I’m sure there will be a recipe somewhere with almond flour or alternatives if you look up keto or low carb. Good luck!
Hi Jamie I tried your sponge Cale,I did everything as you indicated put it in the microwave 12 minutes later I brought it out and it was lovely to see but something must have gone wrong it was very hard. My microwave is a Nerf I cooked it at 600 .what did I do 😢😊wrong 🙏
Unfortunately, suet isn’t available in the US or I haven’t seen it in the forty years I’ve been living here. An ex pat watching in S Florida. At least I can get Birds canned custard.
Thank you Jamie. This looks delicious. I can taste it from here. Looking forward to watching it with my grandson. Thank You Jehovah God for our taste buds 😂😋
He said that little bowl would do 6 to 8 portions! In reality not a chance but if you portion correctly and have this kind of stuff now and again it’s perfectly fine. All about balance!
Good food never dates! Bringing back old school food helps educate the youngsters who have never heard or tired these things. Besides food Is personal and can evoke many memories.
Microwave cooking is a real cooking method. But not traditional, I agree. And…. Not everyone has the time to make everything from scratch. But maybe they want to make something nice. But… I hear what you are saying. :-) I’m not British, so I actually know nothing about how to make this pudding, but this microwave method seems doable and enjoyable.
You might want to do your research Jamie. Golden syrup is an Australian thing, not English! Even the golden syrup pudding is Australian as are golden syrup dumplings!

Agree on the cold custard with warm sponge 😋

I've replaced suet with Crisco before when making Christmas pudding and it turned out great!
How long was it cooked in microwave?
Hi there.pls microwaves .which degree ? 12 minutes time ? Right.tnks a lot.🎉❤❤
Nice recipe 👌
Made it, turned out exactly the same, thanks so very much for the method, wow, microwave, still can’t believe it.

Hey in from SA..I need to know the different sugar and where it is obtainable
Thanks Jamie but what is suet please ?

How long did it cook?
What could I replace suet with? Cold butter? Can't get suet where I live...

What size pudding basin please?
Hi ya, after the flour did get what you add animal su...?? thxs
I like your oven. Is it NEFF?
Thank you. From Senegal Dakar
We don’t have golden syrup in Canada. Is it the same as corn syrup? Can we use honey in it’s place? Love your down to earth recipes!
Honey would be delicious 😋

Would a light molasses work?
Your own excellent maple syrup will make a fine replacement methinks. I'm in Scotland and we would always use Lyles but I love maple syrup too😁

Maple syrup! Good idea. Now why didn’t think of that. Thank you!
Nice🎉 Congratulation!
can you omit the gingerand orange

It's not lard, it's beef suet.
@@karldelavigne8134 Suet is lard but from around the kidneys
@@karldelavigne8134 Thanks!
Não entendi nada pois não falo inglês e o TH-cam não traduziu porém captei a idéia e gostei 🙏🏻😋🥰
Just wondering as being Belgian and not grew up w/ steamed puddings… where can you get those classic pudding moulds/bowls I don’t know what to call them 😅❤
Charity or vintage / bric a brac shop, Etsy. I don't think they make them any more.
I got one on Amazon, I searched for “Steamed pudding bowl”. I’m guessing this is a 1 litre bowl.
Recipe?
Did he said how long we have to cook it ? And at 900w or less ?
He said 12 minutes at medium
I did 12 mins at 500 and it didn’t rise
Can you make a Keto Carnivore version? 🤤
Don,t forget to scrape the remains in the pudding bowl!😀Jinxy
Best bit!
We need smellavision 🤣🤣🤣🤣😍😍😍
I can't bear suet. Can't you use butter?
Looks delicious! Too bad I'm diabetic.😪

Maybe you didn't cook it at medium power.
I had the same issue, I used 500 for 12 mins
My Jamie Oliver
Love you so much 🍀🌼🍀 you're mine
Mine didn’t rise at all, it was all rubbery. Don’t know what I did wrong?

HAPPY 2023!🙂💐🕛🌜🎉🎈🎂⛄
Looks very similar to the Hairy Bikers recipe that takes 5 minutes. Must try this one though to compare.
Unfortunately, suet isn’t available in the US or I haven’t seen it in the forty years I’ve been living here. An ex pat watching in S Florida. At least I can get Birds canned custard.
Awesome
I'm sure that he said 12 minutes on medium power.
My son does something similar.
Thank you Jamie. This looks delicious. I can taste it from here. Looking forward to watching it with my grandson. Thank You Jehovah God for our taste buds 😂😋
I'm going to make this tonight, but, 6 to 8 portions my arse! 2 maybe 3 at a push!
silicone spatula please...
😋👌
🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
If that was given to children as part of a school meal, would Jamie approve? It's seriously heavy on sugar.
is this a video about school meals? I think not
@@helenjennings9190 You've realised the point: is what is good enough in the home not good enough for school meals?
It's a treat. Once in a while indulgence.
He said that little bowl would do 6 to 8 portions! In reality not a chance but if you portion correctly and have this kind of stuff now and again it’s perfectly fine. All about balance!
Nothing wrong if it’s a treat. Not all the time.
The suet threw me. I wouldn't even know where to find that 🤔
❤️
damn it, i don't have a microwave.
Jeez Jamie is so behind the times microwave puddings a decade or 2 gone

It's delicious 😋

We get golden syrup in England, it's called Lyalls Golden Syrup.
Golden syrup actually originated in England. No offence intended, but maybe you should do your research.
No real cook uses a microwave.
Yes jamie, get it around the bottom & rim 😂
I think you must be an imposter 2nd thing I've made from here..followed the recipe to a t and went straight in the bin as did the last thing I made
wot if you dnt have suet
@mrnigelng bro would say haiya
i never thought i would see the day Jamie stoop so low as to be using a microwave ...tsk tsk ... good grief how the mighty have fallen ...:/ :)
