    the commentary about 1989 is definitely what I've been saying for the past 6 years, Emotion conveys the 80's much better than 1989 but sadly it's overlooked. I love 1989 too but Emotion is so fucking special, if ever I get amnesia I'd probably cry all-over again over this album

    • @lalalulu17
      @lalalulu17 2 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      agree. 1989 can be quite tedious after a while but emotion always gave you a sense of excitement at each replay.

    • @a.c.7573
      @a.c.7573 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Emotion was also much more consistent musically than 1989. 1989 on the otherhand had songs that didn't fit the 'neo 80s' style.

      I think it would have flopped (just bc of general public’s taste) but it woulda earned her an insane amount of acclaim earlier on. The album being insanely good became a surprise for the Pitchfork crowd bc of IRLY.

      Eljohn Macaranas I completely agree, but I honestly became such a fan after hearing Run Away with me. I saw the lead single and was like ehh another Call me Maybe 2.0. Then I heard RAWM and god completely change my ideology on her. But over all can’t disagree it was definitely the pop album of 2015.

    I miss driving around cross-city 3am listening to emotion in 2016. Especially songs like Store, Making most of the night, Fever, Run away with me. All of them really. Its sad that there are only like 20 songs. The emotion theme shouldve been an album trilogy

      @@EljohnMacaranas haha same with friends. Besides, this album is better listened to alone. It just hits deeper and differently. And idk why but it feels like every 2015 album was very deep and creative like adele 25. No one tries hard anymore. Everyone's starting to be more chill and basic with their music cause thats the trend.

    • @EljohnMacaranas
      @EljohnMacaranas  4 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      Clay Music There was a “poptimism” movement in the mid 2010’s that many consider the last hurrah of upbeat pop as the trend. The albums ppl cite as classics from that time are Emotion, 1989, Purpose and other albums of the time were being held as the standard. Critics were eating them up but then trap took over (which is fine but tbh it’s hard to truly stand out in that genre. I’m seeing people like Flo Milli make bubblegum trap and upbeat stuff though, so I see it evolving into something more fun.)

    My Fantasy E•MO•TION Era:
    1. Run Away With Me debuts on April 3, 2015 as the lead single E•MO•TION. It goes on to become the Song of the Summer of 2015 like CMM. The music video premieres after 4 weeks, leading it to peak the Hot 100.
    (Peak: Apr 24-May 29, Re peak: Jul 10-Jul 24: #1 for 9 weeks)
    2. E•MO•TION (Song) released as a promotional single for the album with the Album Announcement and Pre-Orders on May 22, 2015.

    (Peak: Jun 26-Jul 3 : #1 for 2 weeks)
    4. All That accompanies IRLY as a promotional single for the album, being released on June 12, 2015. It's a confessional slow ballad, praised for Carly's vulnerability and 80s Synth production.
    (Debut and Peak: Jun 19: #31 for 1 week)
    5. Boy Problems (ft. Sia) released as the third single on August 7, 2015 with release of the album E•MO•TION. A fun and cheeky track, it wins the hearts of the general public and becomes a huge Instagram trend song.

    6. Your Type (ft. Selena Gomez) is released as the fourth single on October 2, 2015. The song features Selena Gomez, who is currently in her Revival Era. Reason: The vibe of Selena is also "Not Like The Other Girls" (Which I Like)

    12. Never Got To Hold You is released as the final single from the album on October 21, 2016 due to the cold/ autumn vibes it withholds.
    (Debut and Peak: Oct 28, Re-Peak: Nov 11-Nov 25: #3 for 4 weeks)
    13. After the release of E•MO•TION (Album), she treats her fans with a Nine Track Album titled E•MO•TION Side B with Cut To The Feeling acting as it's lead single. The song is released along with the album on November 25, 2016.
