  • The Hymer B678 looks today nothing like the B range has been on the market since 1981 although I think it would be fair to call this a classic model. Today the Hymer B range has a width of 235 cm and height of 290cm offering sleeping for four, a 70 cm wide entrance door, all-round protection thanks to GRP roof coating and styrofoam insulation, AL-KO lightweight frame with independent wheel suspension, 150 litre fresh water tanks and 130 litre grey water tank and a smart tower 142 litre 'fridge.
The 678 has a GVW of 4,500kg offering a payload of one tonne. The vehicle is 745cm long. This version has joinable twin beds at the back.
I live in a motorhome full time and travel around Europe in it. I spend most of my time in Poland, Germany and Italy. Vanlife is my life.
In my TH-cam channel, I present reviews of recreational vehicles. Here you will find campervans and motorhomes from the cheapest camper vans to the most expensive luxury liners, from various companies including Hobby, Hymer, Carthago, Westfalia, Wingamm, La Strada, Frankia, Wavecamper, Maurer, Dreamer, Itineo, Rapido, Clever Vans, Pössl, Bürstner, Niesmann Bischoff, Action Mobil, Benimar, Reisemobil Manufaktur, Robeta, Trigano, Challenger, EuraMobil, Karmann Mobil, Laika, Forster, Mobilvetta Design, Affinity, Globe Traveller, Benimar, Roller Team, Adria, Tourne, Megamobil, VW, Mercedes, CS, Renault, Ford, Fiat, Carado, Sunlight, Baileys, Chausson, Balcamp, Knaus, Weinsberg, Mitsubishi, Woelcke, Reisemobile Bürow and others.
I do this by regularly attending trade events such as CMT Stuttgart, Abenteuer und Allrad, Caravan Salon Dusseldorf, Warsaw Caravan and Camping Show and sometimes others.
I cover equipment, including 12v electrical equipment and talk a lot about lithium batteries.
I also show some of the places I have visited in Europe in my own motorhome, as well as the places you can stay at! I try to give as much coverage as I can to official campsites and free places which I use for overnighting. Therefore you can find here the aire or stellplatz that you are possibly looking for.

Big frig + extra bed above drivers seat is brilliant idea. Fresh Food is the most precious cargo you can carry !!

I love a huge fridge. The bigger the better for me.

T wish you would stop going on about the size of the fridges, many of us like a good sized one. As healthy eating vegans, fresh fruit, salads and vegetables Plus wine and beer, are important to us ( much healthier than you intermittent fasting Alan) Also, the grandkids may be happy to sleep on the floor when they are young, but as they get older or their parents travel, surely a bed tucked neatly over the cab is a boon. I enjoy your site and location reviews very much, but the vehicle reviews are not very objective in my opinion although it is nice to see new vehicles. Rant over

Roy, I presume the bit about beer being much healthier than intermittent fasting was either a typo or a mistake. As for the bed, if you are small or don't mind hitting your head every time you go in and out of the cabin for something that gets used once a year then that may well be a boon - for most motorhomers who travel as couples it probably is not. But of course it is nice to have alternative opinions.

Roy Danby You don't need a big fridge, and fruit and veg certainly don't need a fridge.

I was hovering towards veganism but I am now coming away from it - shall be posting material later. I am still pescatarian though!

wouldn't it be better if you were given the choice of 2nd bed or cupboards, with a 1000 kg payload you woukd be laughing

Yup as well as a large or small fridge lol. But seriously, the freezer should be below the fridge.

Here he goes again! Instead of just showing us this beautiful van, he has to criticize key features that others want. Who really cares what he likes, or his opinions about the products?

I understand your problem. No-one cares about you! Perhaps that is a problem you need to resolve on your own or with professional assistance!

I think it's long time a camper is fitted with a Murphy bed and no full time bedroom! Now that is a waste of space not an over head bed above an area where your seated? You seem to have an obsession with disliking over head beds whenever you see them and refer to them as a waste of space while you show the most cramped spaces possible. So you can fit a bicycle in an enourmas boot and climb a ladder into bed? Obviously people have different needs but why shouldn't a van be spacious?
