its not quite a resonance buffer but it is in the feedback circuit of the first stage of the filter. having heard that sound quite a few times in filters it hinted something was up in the resonance/feedback aspect of the filter circuit. so luckily it was a correct stab in the dark.
Nice repair. And congratulations on that clean paint job of yours. After my last ceiling paint job I was not sure which one got more paint on: The ceiling or my face.
Actually fell asleep to the playing on the end of this yesterday when watching this in bed, was a very nice blissful way to fall asleep. Kinda sad how I was already dreaming and almost asleep when it stopped though and Autoplay woke me up 😂 But the end was wonderful to fall asleep to, very soothing and nice
Great - thanks for linking to a better quality scan than I had. With the addon module and a bit of modification you could use the design to make a non programmable Prophet or a Roland as the VCOs are CEMs
So you are saying there is no CPU, and it uses TTL for all polyphonic note assignments? My first synth was a Transcendant 2000, built from a kit. It was always very low budget and forever going wrong. Plus, if the VCF went into self-resonance, it would blow the output op amp.
Sam this inspired me to get of my arse and fix my Antiphon at long last - dodgy socket contact on the main amp ic in the end. Happy days! Happy new year to you and thanks for the inspiration 👍🏻
saw this on my phone this morning and just now been searching my ass off for this video on lmnc😂 anyway, loved time is not a healer off to read the documentation now👌
At around 14:05 my brain got the smart idea that you would shuffle around the table with the headphones to put them on the camera for that "direct recording". I mentally facepalmed a few seconds later but the thought amused me for a while.
3:11 lol Thnx for the document, 5V33 is like Roland TB-303 for the DAC witch can by divided down the number of octaves /key, the Logic is kinda cool, using a RAM chip (kinda obsolete). Very cool device for the circuits/technology or brain it has, one of the best synthesizer i would say. the company Fatar in Italy makes and sells "keyboards" in case you didn't know.
Man id love to have a way to build polyphonic synth keyboards without Arduino bullshit and stuff Have been trying to figure out stuff but all I have come up with so far uses an insane amount of parts and soldering. I came up with so many oscillators, effects and sound generators but I can't find a reasonable way to build a keyboard and circuitry to drive them polyphonically with discreet ic's and parts. Has been driving me nuts.
The voltage is controlled by voltages. Lovely 😂 if only everything was that simple Another great video Really don't like what that sounds like, but you can't like everything all the time. Well done for saving it 👍 Happy new year Look out for Red. Coming soon from the garden of doom. Get your biggest basseist speaker things out.😂
15:53 and for the next 30 seconds on and off... What's the black cord, which is connected from Sam's wrist to the camera? A dead man switch, so it stops filming if he pratfalls? A yarn trail, so he doesn't lose his way back to the camera? Is he secretly a marionette?! That would be amazing, but alas unlikely. EDIT: figured it out, but kept my comment anyway🤣
Hey, I had a dream with you in it yesterday, dunno if you're the kind of person who cares about things like that but I thought I'd let you know anyways

Thats a fantastic bit of kit. Well done for sticking with it Sam and bringing it back from the near dead.
"IC10, IC9, I see dead people..."
The sixth sense is strong with this one! Hahaha, made my day :)
That's some crazy nice playing, I loved that.
Who ever made this synth is probably dead.
IC under pants
@@8bitwiz_ not mine, I'm wearing a skirt :D
really, really enjoyed this.. I love 99% of content but fixing/building and making noise is always top.
That synth sounds dope! Glad you were able to bring it back to life. 😎
This sounds likes a C64 music demo ! what a superb sound this thing makes
Nice repair. And congratulations on that clean paint job of yours. After my last ceiling paint job I was not sure which one got more paint on: The ceiling or my face.
Use a 4' roller handle. It honestly revolutionised emulsion painting for me.
1990s retro game music cd vibes, nice 👍
Agree, getting some nostalgia for old games. Like Space Quest IV or something.
1975.

Well done Sam! Some epic sounds there too!
Great video 2x👍
I think I saw dead people once Truly was a strange night at work.

Nice work on getting this fully functional.
The fast music at the end seems to fit the machines style better, very early video games !
X
fair dooz! i like its long chords personally. but it does a few things well
The chords you were playing at 12ish mins sounded so much like New Religion by Landscape, I had childhood flashbacks 😄
Sam you should try making a trance song with the Transcendant, it sounds sooooo good!!!

Absolutely had to pause and listen to Time is Not A Healer when you started testing the polysynth at 13:00
Put back the soul into this machine. Good job.

I would love to see the schematics for the keyboard decoder circuit!
This thing sounds awesome 👍
Radiophonic workshop?
Nice work.Excellent stuff.
sounds yummi!! loveit!
awesome sauce!!!! sounds like an impending doom machine!! :)) happy new year friendssss xo
Sounds good! That trimmer pot used for bias voltages or something?
i really love watching this kind of stuff
makes me feel better about some of my own busted gear :/
Blissed out comrade
Is that sythersizor from 1975s? It looks like a very early style design.
It was a project that started in the December 1980 edition of Electronics Today International.
@@gribbler1695 Very interesting indeed.
Sam the Magic Man transcendence is his business.
I LOVE ! 💙
Sounds like Clockwork Orange 🍊
Good Jaahb!
What a wonderful sounding machine
"IC dead people" 😂
Highly likely who made this synth is probably dead.
Four SID chips in a big box :-)

Your not hearing it at it's best, when it's working properly He will be able to spend time sound designing nice sounds.
"Removing and replacing the sockets." I'm not sure chip sockets work that way...
Extraction tool, what's wrong with a screwdriver and letting the IC flip up and embed itself in your thumb 😮😂
You forgot I.C. Wiener

Oh wait it's probably a ground wire, so he doesn't blow a fuse... I guess he went right from repairing this to playing it!!!
It's a earthing cable to stop static electricity reaching the sensitive circuits, you would do the same when working on a computer.
@@GizzyDillespee Its an earthing wire, the same used when working on computer circuit boards, a small bit of static can destroy microchips.
Sam great content but who sprays switch cleaner close to the service manual you hooligan. I forgive you just don't do it again 👍
He is a "Just do it" guy.
Barney from New Order built one of these.
Barney's was the monophonic version, which Sam also has an example of.
@@chriswareham ah cool. That makes more sense tbh.

Wondering what that little metal can 8 pin dude sticking in the DIP socket is..
It's a 741 op amp but in a can instead of a PDIP (Plastic Dual In-line Package).
You are kinda technician but not really
isnt that most technicians?
@@LOOKMUMNOCOMPUTER I've got one of these in the loft along with the Vocoder that went with it.. might get me screwdrivers out again.....
