i love your photos and diy skills for creating these backdrops and backgrounds. they make for fantastic pictures and as i am starting to up my social media game for my food business, i love to create these. The one question i have is how do you know which colors to use to create these patterns?

Thank you for introducing me to Claudia’s work! Her pictures are so incredibly beautiful. Not technically food, but there’s a photographer on instagram named Shannon Sturgis (@shannonshootscocktails), she takes pictures of cocktails. I find a lot of the same principles in food photography apply to beverages as well. Great editing btw, your videos are a delight to watch.

Does the white paint have to be emulsion paint? or any white paint? Or could you just skip the white paint part altogether and go straight to your colors of choice...green, etc.
The white helps with making the top colour show up better, saving you quite a bit of the final colour, the logic being that white is much cheaper in most cases. So you can skip it. Hope that helps!

I am 100% going to try the filler one! I honest'y don't know why I hadn't thought of that one myself. How does the fabric one store? Can you roll it up? Just asking as I do all my shooting at home and have very limited space but I love the look you have created.
Thats how I felt when it dawned on me. It looks awesome. You should check out 'The Bite Shot' she has some amazing variations on these types of boards. I'll stick a shot of the canvas bg over on the 'When Will I Learn' Instagram of how I've stored it and what it looks like now.
Can the fabric one be roll up?and acrylic paint work on fabric?or nd special fabric paint?

The wedding wasn't mine, I was just filming it and it meant I was away for a week. Thanks for your support, the thing that I love most about TH-cam is the idea that a person can create a community so keep the comments coming. If you mean the pictures at the start, I hated how cheesy they looked in the end but I didn't have the energy to go back and change them. Happy new year!

Hi, I got a little confused with the material called polyfilla, is that the same as plaster or filler?
I put more info in the blog post. It's called spackle or joint compound elsewhere in the world I hope that helps.

It was cheap acrylic and regular household emulsion.
