I remember mooching round scrapyards in the 80's. They were invariably a sea of rust. Nowadays, terminal rust is far less prevalent (with some notable exceptions) and yet the cars don't seem to last any longer.
It's such a throw away society now. The amount of cars there that looked absolutely fine was ridiculous. I spoke to a worker there and they said many cars come in with no problems, just parts of a deceased estate ect.
Ooooooo Minis...pain in my existence 🤣 great walk around! I love full scrap yard tours!! We used to have a huge place, Haynes of Challow, but it's empty now 😢
Great vid! I don’t agree with the throw away society idea. The number of cars I see on the road everyday that are between 17-23 years old is incredible.
That Honda with the orange seats, did you notice it had 3 doors, ie near side had front and rear but off side only had a door at the front, no rear access…. such an unusual idea 🤣
@@Alexsassets yes that’s similar to the Fiat 500 but neither would convert for RHD market so fiat will not import that version to UK (I think) but Japanese do have RHD cars so the rear exit is on the near side… But I do notice mother’s prefer to get kids out into live traffic so they develop no road sense and grow up tramping on in front of cars 🙄 instead of alighting in the walkway where it’s safe 🤣
Did someone say Slightly Shambolic Shuffle? That Rover 25 is a rare post-facelift one, made for just a year before MG Rover's bankruptcy in April 2005. The 55 registration indicates that it hung around for a while before being sold, as many late MGs and Rovers did, sadly.
I am now unsure of what a bimble is, I would have put your visit today to be a stroll, or maybe a mosey....perchance even a wander, but definitely not a bimble :(

Old scrapyards have too much nostalgia. I've driven or owned a lot there!
Great little bimble round the yard, many cars of my childhood and growing up that I recognise there.

No i didn't notice ! My mum's 2010 Mini Clubman has a weird thing of having a rear door on drivers side only....
