I love the lines in the chorus "This isn't human anymore" and "Are you still human at the core?" But overall the entire song is great. I can't stop listening to it and I absolutely loved the game itself. Although I expected it to be slightly longer than it was.
I paticularly like the choruses and the "I’ve gone from pillar to pariah in the slide. In seas of doubt I swim against the turning tide." bit. Really hits with me since that's kinda how I feel some days, what with being considered 'different' in my own right. Which makes it really awesome. You, sir, are genius, even when you don't realize it.
miracleofsound If I had a more exciting life, I would sell the liferights to make a movie, if only so you could write and perform the songs for it. But we can't all be Adam Jensen, now can we? That aside, Perhaps, in the future, you might do something for The Old Republic? I'd be curious to know what that would sound like.
I just realised the duality of the chorus. From the Augs' pov, it's asking if the actions of the humans even make them human anymore. But from a human's point of view, it's asking if the augs are even human at all.
...shit, you're right. I was thinking of the duality from the Aug protagonist - he questions if he's still human, and if the actions of the humans are 'human', but it also makes sense from the perspective of the humans. Works perfectly from all of those angles. Reminiscent of the question asked in Hunchback: who is the monster and who is the man?
The human is the one who puts his heart and soul on the line to risk it all for the things he/she/it cares for In Overwatch, some Omnics are more human than actual 'humans' are
he always has something that connects his songs of same franchaise. broken bodies here, crimson rivers in AC and dream of sea/sky/goodbyes in bioshock. i wonder what will it be in dishonored...
Nah. "Sad, sad faces" and/or "Bad, bad places". Either way there's no guarantee he'll do a Dishonored 2 one. It seems likely, but you can never be certain, it all depends on whether or not the game inspires him or not.
This song reminds me why I like lyrics that use complex wordings and still manage to rhyme. It's as if nobody is a poet in today's music anymore. This is refreshing.
I know this comment is about 7 years too late to the party, But bloody hells this song is golden. The lyrics describe the story of the game in a way that I truly did not expect and actually caused me to tear up a little thinking about the fact that the game series has ended, its a story that might never get a truly satisfying ending. All I can do is hope that the new game that is pure spectulation actually comes out in 2028 like it is rumored to, and say bloody well done!
Absolutely beautiful character. He can't be fully one. He fears to be the worst of both. Side with Arc, he loses his humanity; side with the police, he betrays his fellow augs. Excellent duality, awesome game
Take my advice just put it on a loop for the rest of the day. It helps you waste less time pressing the button. And spend more time listening to a genius.
Damn, seeing Adam fight in these scenes really gets across just how utterly terrifying it would be for a normal soldier to fight an Aug. He looks essentially human until he starts turning on all his fancy weapon systems, so I could see treating any person with augments as a threat on that level...eesh. (No, I've not played Mankind Divided. I enjoyed Human Revolution, but wasn't quite in the right mindset when I tried Mankind Divided. I'm definitely planning to give it another shot at some point, though, just not yet.)
@Samuel Anugrah Andre not yet - I'm currently on a system that has some significant driver issues (I switched to Linux and my current distro doesn't like my video card that much - I'm switching to another when I swap out ancient hard drives for new ones, and have been procrastinating on that for far too long). Most games with sophisticated 3d modelling just don't work. But it's still on my list.
In reality normal bullet will destory augumentations as easily as it destroys body, Thickness of metal/composite needed to stop a bullet is quite large. (6mm of solid stell for 9 mm pistol).
@@TOCZEKX I meant more that I can see the concern being warranted within the fiction of the game. Real world cybernetics will probably never even come close to what Deus Ex portrays, at least on the combat front. Not unless we can start mass producing substances we barely even know how to make at this point, and find more substances that are even more durable Still, I'd imagine to someone used to using prosthetics as weapons, having one shot off would be far less concerning to them than it would be to a human. Combat happens fast, and if your first shot hits something that the other person can just shrug off, you might not have the chance to land a second on something more vital.
@ToeTruck True. And since my original comment wasn't clear "treat as a threat on that level" does not mean "oppress the shit out of." Honestly, if you're actually worried about someone having the ability to tear you limb from limb without breaking a sweat, the only logical response is to do everything in your power to NOT piss them off.
This song has some of your best lyrics yet IMO, especially this line: "They painted masterworks and set them all alight, the scars of persecution always harden into spite" I also really love all the similarities with your previous Deus Ex song.
***** I ah actually an Idiot, I listened to them already, quite a few times, just never internalized that it was Sharm in them xD Wow I impress myself sometimes with this kind of shit xD
Coming back to this song in 2024, I can't help but feel like Adam Jensen is one of modern gaming's biggest tragedies. The character was so effortlessly cool and badass, had a great first game, a great revival of a great older IP, everything was going right... SE painted a masterwork and then set it all alight... You may be gone Adam, but you won't be forgotten. Neither will your god damn badass and cool retracting shades.
I second this. Fires Fade made me get Dark Souls 3, haven't regretted a single second of it. Gav just manages to project the games' atmosphere perfectly into his songs.
Thank you. This is inspiring. It made me buy and play the game and I didn't regret it. Instead it changed my point of view on life, on people and on the value of human rights. Your song captured the core message of the game which some players so boldly overlooked in the broader picture.
I dunno about the credits, but I do remember something about bioware using his song Commander Shepherd for promos or something like that. Ubisoft also likes it when he releases songs for their games because they generate a lot of hype.
Gav, you really hit it out of the park with this one man! The parts that line up with New Black Gold just give the song that extra umph that make it another amazing piece of music.
I don't have the musical ear for the kick drum change, but I can definitely tell the vocals are louder and it sounds much better, love it and keep doing what you do
miracleofsound Y'know, I'd just joked that the kick drum was probably 0.01 decibels too loud. Amusing that I was almost right. Thanks for not half-arsing then.
Man after all these years I see that you really have AN AUGUMENTED INSPIRATION, no one can challange this. Such subtle feeling of mood and atmosphere of what the story was and how it goes...now I even doubt that the trailer was outstanding. 10 Praxis kits for you and your creation, long live!!!
Your Deus Ex songs seems to be the most poetic and dramatic of your works, really. Both the "New Black Gold" and the "Natural Heart" pay the best homage to the great ideas in these games. I wish their own direction and execution was, actually, that good! I think both of these games have issues that they don't want to be as radical as they, ironically, strive to be. They could be as hard to play as Spec Ops: The Line, but they try to tone it all down a lot. You don't.
I love how songs about a game in a series have hints of the songs you made about previous games in the series. It took your own song at 1:20 for me to really notice it, but Jenson's a hell of an interesting character. His outward appearance and behavior patterns are so stereotypically "dark hounded angry outcast western archetype protagonist" I can bet he gets weekly calls from the 1990's asking for their hero ideas back, yet the fraction of a bit where the Aug being beaten triggered Jenson's memories of the time he /wanted/ to act, and was overcome. Thus he decides, on the spot, to take matters into his own hands, which is narratively beautiful, not to mention how slickly it represents the core essence of Deus Ex gameplay, which is finding yourself in a multitude of situations that demand none of your attention, yet are basically pleading for it, given certain kinds of personality and history. Out of a sort of....gruff kindness. A sensitivity he doesn't let on, yet lives by. And in a world of technological magic, what more relatable feeling is there than that?
Jesus Christ, Gav, steady on. Between this one, Hell to Pay, the DS3 tracks, and all the rest, I'm pretty sure Level 7 is going to be too good for mortals to handle. It'll melt people's faces off Ark-Of-The-Covenant-style or something.
It is fascinating how you achieve to understand the essence, the spirit of a game or a movie, and you can redefine it, and compose total new songs that even improve the originals, with a so accurate selected cinematics that reinforce even more the spirit of the work. You are creating great videos, each one is like a complete movie, in my opinion, every video is a little masterpiece, very well done, Congratulations miracleofsound, thank you for those works! . This one is my favourite ever, i even made my own version of your version, experimenting with synths and orchestral instruments :) (just for learning) . Your videos are great inspiration.
Just when I thought he couldn’t do “The New Black Gold,” in lyrical quality, symbolism, and song quality. How does someone write something this amazing? Seriously, the emotions when watching this with the video, while playing the game...it’s like the Sistine chapel or a Monet panting was given a soundtrack to match the quality. Amazing work.
I love how (to me) it's similar to New Black Gold, but still very unique. I always think of broken bodies built anew, broken bodies line the walls. Great work!!
I have a whole playlist of music from this amazing artist that I listen to everyday. I am never tired of his music. I also have my favorites. You sir are very talented. My mom would have loved you.
Loving the song! I'm impressed on how you manage not only to capture the feel of the game, how its more grey and 'toned-down' than the shiny and futuristic first one, but also the mood of Jensen, The kind of sad resignation as apposed to the quiet defiance in the first game, and first song. At least, that what it feels like when I listen. As always great work! Cant wait for December.
Hey Sound Star, i just wanted to thak you for all the music you gave us. Im a huge fan and a lot of your songs go straight into my heart. And i have to say this is again a true masterpiece. Pleas stay the way you are i really admire you!
Amazing lyrics! Beautiful, poetic and full of references (as the game itself)... My favorite is the Icarus thing. Oh, and I love the calls to the previous Deus Ex song. The acknowledgement of being a part of a bigger story adds even more depth to it.
That opening remix of the new black gold. amazing how you always find ways to put in cues and callbacks to previous songs in the series. Thanks to you i cant listen to other artists anymore, your just on a level above others.
This is a perfect mix of "New Black Gold" and something new - what else is there to say, you've done it again, Gav! :) Whenever I hear your songs, I always feel like running out and buying the game - and in most casess, your song far surpases the actual game experience! ;)
I think this is the best song you've ever done, and that's really saying something considering how fantastic all your works are. I've listened to "The Natural Heart" at least once, sometimes twice a day since you first posted it, and it never gets old. I don't play Deus Ex: Human Revolution or Mankind Divided, nor do I play the Assassin's Creed games (my husband plays all of them and I'll be getting him Mankind Divided as a gift soon) but although I don't play the games, I like the stories the games tell and I have to say that your songs for Deus Ex and Assassin's Creed are some of your best work (though I also love your songs for Game of Thrones / A Song of Ice and Fire) - beautiful beautiful songs, and you have a fantastic voice. You have an amazing talent, please keep it going!
Wow, great Gavin, your music involves so much me. This rhythm induces to live, the words give hope. Hope that the heart, the humanity, will win always on any technology.
Said it for the last upload, but I'll say it again: A perfect sequel to The New Black Gold for the perfect sequel to Human Revolution. You've really captured the feel of MD, and made a great song doing it
Oh man, now I'm wondering what did you change in relation to the version from a couple hours ago... Is it the kickdrum? I feel like it's the kickdrum, but I'm not entirely sure.
It wasn't a massive change, so there'd be no point. When changing something between two versions of a mix it's usually better to discard the old mix as the newer one will be better. As I say, if it had been a massive change like maybe a complete change of the kit or a different synth, then it may have been welcome to see both to compare but there's not really any point. On another note, Gavin out of curiosity what kit do you use? Is it the NI Abbey Road Modern?
Huh, I thought the song felt slightly different, better than when I first listened to it. I simply chalked it up to my imagination; your songs tend to grow on me after a few listens.
As always, absolutely love the subtle nods to the previous song. Plus I think you touched on something here that the game itself missed out on; the whole time playing it, it didn't seem to address that maybe the militant Naturals are the ones that REALLY threw away their humanity. And I think you hit that nail on the head!
Having purchased a few MoS albums and being a general fan of most of the things you do, this is probably my favorite track you've recorded to date. Amazing job man. Amazing Job.
Was listening to the whole playlist while doing my stuff, but had to stop just to say how good that song is! It gives me chills. Great work! Just...I don't know how to explain the feelings I have right now, but that song is oh so good, and there is no word in any human language to describe how much I like it.
@@aubreyackermann8432 hopefully yes. I’m not where I want to be quite yet but there is hope of a significantly better job coming my way. Won’t do anything about the depression but it will be a major improvement. Thank you for checking.
I love The New Black Gold and listened to it obsessively when I discovered it, and as good as it is it just doesn't go quite as hard as this does. Every few months I listen to this over and over again, and I just have to say that I'm overwhelmed by how good it is every time.
"This isn't human anymore." This game (Human Revolution) has make me question what it even mean to be a human. After all those years, i'm still not even sure what is the right answer.
I'm beginning to think that being "human" is a subjective thing for us. And when we get to this point(Deus Ex style augmentations or just cyborg trans-humanism realized) IRL that our already convoluted thought process regarding what is qualified to be termed "human" is going to lead to TONS of strife for everyone...
It's all about perspective. How logical and calculating can you be before you're a computer? How compassionate and caring is too compassionate? Or maybe it's physical? Personally, I believe it as a more mental / moral divide.
+VoltocityGEL Is an exact electronic imprint of a human mind human? Because prosthetic limbs wontake you not human hoewer mutch you think they do... When we start screwing with the seat of the mind do questions come really flooding.
I like this mix a lot more, great job Gav. It's mental thinking how the tiniest difference in a mix can change a song's entire feel and tone, for the better or worse.
I'm upset that we'll most likely not see anything else from deus ex since the game flopped :( As a huge fan of both mankind divided and Human revolution it breaks my heart.
Let me just say this video and the companion one New Black Gold are both awesome! This is probably one of the only songs I have ever come across that actually made me cry. Once you play the games and you really understand and then listen to this song it tears my heart out because it's so true just within the game universe. You did an absolutely magnificent job capturing the heart of this game and I just have to agree with some of the other commenters "they painted Masterworks and set them all alight" is beautiful poetry and frighteningly true when thinking of the Illuminati and the game. So just on a final note well done keep it up I have loved about every video you put out so far.
Absolutely amazing, love how the style and tone recalls New Black Gold without feeling like it's trying to emulate it, I felt a lot of emotional impact with this one, got a little misty eyed not gonna lie. I feel like this shows off your voice more than some of your other songs, and the lyrics flow fantastically. A great work, truly!
Your Human Revelation song is my favourite song. I've been listening to it for years, every once in a while I'll listen to it to calm down and relax. This song Gavin, giving me chills. Thanks for existing Miracle of Sound.
They painted masterworks and set them all alight,
The scars of persecution always harden into spite.
Poetry, absolutely gorgeous poetry, Gavin!
Thank you! I like that lyric :)

Wow this is a great comment and view on jensen actions.
3:44 Nanomachines, son !
Best meme ever! although Jensen only has mechanical augments, nanomachines aren't invented till a few decades later.
Yeah, that's a detail I forgot about. Yet, I'm curious about one thing - If Jensen had to fight with Armstrong, which one would win ?
Does he have a vending machine?
I think the tech in Metal Gear Rising is much more high-sci-fi than in Deus Ex.
But if those arm blades were made into HF blades...
that's Ferro fluid my man
Just when I thought he couldn’t do “The New Black Gold,” in lyrical quality, symbolism, and song quality.
How does someone write something this amazing? Seriously, the emotions when watching this with the video, while playing the game...it’s like the Sistine chapel or a Monet panting was given a soundtrack to match the quality. Amazing work.
Made me want to listen to your old tune, The New Black Gold, all over again. Respect, my man. S'what I got for your talent.
to this day, this is still one of my favorite songs from gavin, continue your great work man!
L l l.
Perfect timing, uploading this just after I completed the game. Beautiful work as always.
I love how (to me) it's similar to New Black Gold, but still very unique. I always think of broken bodies built anew, broken bodies line the walls. Great work!!
This song gets to me in so many ways, I can't even begin to explain.
please keep doing what you you do.
Good job, man.
I have a whole playlist of music from this amazing artist that I listen to everyday. I am never tired of his music. I also have my favorites. You sir are very talented. My mom would have loved you.
With everything going in right now? This song sure does speak a good message
Thank you :)
This song makes me very emotional. This is one of the best songs I've ever heard!💖
Amazing lyrics! Beautiful, poetic and full of references (as the game itself)... My favorite is the Icarus thing.
Oh, and I love the calls to the previous Deus Ex song. The acknowledgement of being a part of a bigger story adds even more depth to it.
Chorus are just nailing it. Actual lyrics are awesome, but chorus are even better
Just to let everyone know, Elias Toufexis personally endorses this song.
This beautiful masterpiece deserves at least 10 million more views.
Your voice and lyrics are just too gorgeous.
Gav's voice definitely doesn't need to augmented anyway
That opening remix of the new black gold. amazing how you always find ways to put in cues and callbacks to previous songs in the series. Thanks to you i cant listen to other artists anymore, your just on a level above others.
This is a perfect mix of "New Black Gold" and something new - what else is there to say, you've done it again, Gav! :)
Whenever I hear your songs, I always feel like running out and buying the game - and in most casess, your song far surpases the actual game experience!
I feel like it's the kickdrum, but I'm not entirely sure.
yup. I attenuated some boomy frequencies in the kick drum around 120hz. Also made some of the vocal parts louder
Why not leave both versions like Shadow of the Ash? Sorry, if I'm missing some significant detail... again
Definitely a good change, the song sounds cleaner overall.
Love this song, it inspired my current WIP Utopia. Its set in the twilight of superheroes.

I've only listened to this about a dozen times in the last day... I need my fix.
Was listening to the whole playlist while doing my stuff, but had to stop just to say how good that song is! It gives me chills. Great work!
Just...I don't know how to explain the feelings I have right now, but that song is oh so good, and there is no word in any human language to describe how much I like it.
Breaking down is inevitable. Sounds like my life right now.
Are you doing ok now?
@@aubreyackermann8432 hopefully yes. I’m not where I want to be quite yet but there is hope of a significantly better job coming my way. Won’t do anything about the depression but it will be a major improvement. Thank you for checking.
I love The New Black Gold and listened to it obsessively when I discovered it, and as good as it is it just doesn't go quite as hard as this does. Every few months I listen to this over and over again, and I just have to say that I'm overwhelmed by how good it is every time.
"This isn't human anymore."
This game (Human Revolution) has make me question what it even mean to be a human.
It's not really that complicated.
Việt Trung Trần well my out look on the world is already poisoned, so I doubt I'm human
Spreading the love, I can't stop listening to this song. It's REALLY good.
I want a new Deus Ex game...

Gotta say, I've listened to all your music, multiple MULTIPLE times, but this has to be your absolute best work..
A song for the original deus ex would be amazing!
I like this mix a lot more, great job Gav. It's mental thinking how the tiniest difference in a mix can change a song's entire feel and tone, for the better or worse.
I'm upset that we'll most likely not see anything else from deus ex since the game flopped :(
As a huge fan of both mankind divided and Human revolution it breaks my heart.
They're looking to bring it back but they wanted to take an extended break to see where best to lead the series.
'This isn't human anymore', that line gives me goosebumps xD Well done Gavin! :D
Yay i can give another like! Great job as always Gav! :)
The intro reminds me of the song Rock Me Amadeus by Falco so much XD Oh, because it's AmaDEUS EX, I see what you did there! Awesome tune, nonetheless!
Haha, Adam Deus Adam Deus, rock me Adam Deus
XD
+miracleofsound Do you like warhammer 40k? Games, tabletop or rps system. And btw amazing work
+miracleofsound ya know that??? ain't there some parts in german???
You, sir, are a musical genius with insight. And amusing. Which makes it all the better.
I hope i am not the only one listening to this in 2021
Your Human Revelation song is my favourite song. I've been listening to it for years, every once in a while I'll listen to it to calm down and relax. This song Gavin, giving me chills. Thanks for existing Miracle of Sound.
*Revolution :P
This song is going into my collection!
^^ Thank you c:
Deus Ex is the GOAT!
I'm addicted to this. Gavin, your songs are simply amazing.
That moment when you're singing the lyrics and you mix them up with an older song "broken bodies built-WAIT WHAT"
I can't believe how good this song is....
"Wings that melt when we try to soar"
Who says I'm trying to fly? "express elevator to Hell, going down"
A touch of The New Black Gold, just enough to caress the memory. I love it.
A worthy successor to New Black Gold.
