I might recommend a flow recirculation line to keep water moving through the pump when you shut off the nozzle. Add a reduction T to 1/2 inch and send the water back into your tank.
DJ - do you have a picture that you would share of a flow recirculating idea? I need to build a trailer and probably need to add this idea.
I agree hundred percent also will be a good idea if that thing can be put on a Small trailer

This could be a game changer for everybody in a day and age where it’s hard to rely on anybody less the municipality police firefighters we have to learn to take things into our own hands and this is a great example to safeguard your property with being able to fight any wildfires against your home this can really be a blessing and many people have large storage tanks All you have to do is add a adapter on the bottom of that tank and there you go you can have up to 5000 or more gallons at your disposal to fight against any disasters that come your way awesome set up

Add some dawn dish soup to the water tank. u have some foam, and the water will penatrate deeper when u fight wild land fires. Only add dawn dish soap into the tank when it's a red flag day during fire season
I built on last weekend. I found a tank that slides in the back of a pick up. I found the tank floating on a lake that I was fishing. I went back and put it on my boat and brought it back to my truck. I was used possibly for growers nearby. I added a small fire pump and fire hose. It works great. The tank size is 425 gallons. It was great for my road projects and fire protection. Walt
Nice ridge top property. Build a good size pool for help fighting of wild fires. Went through the last large fire between Moorpark and Camarillo a few years ago and our pool saved the day, for us anyway. More homes than firefighters. Thanks for Sharing the video. Not sure why, but loved it. I believe because you 2 were so happy and in to it. Alot of things you could do differently but, who cares. As you said, this is so fricking cool! I am sure your local FD would donate a bit of class a foam. Good job and love your enthusiasm.

We do that same thing sometimes for dust control works awesome. You should get a few tanks and just put them around your place. Just in case for fire control if there was a fire.
Justin Long yeah I’d like to get like a 5-10 thousand gallon tank and bury it and fill it with rain water this winter and have that for emergency’s
I use one of these pumps with a 500 gallon trailer completely ready for fire fighting. Would love to show you.

If you put a tee on the discharge with a pressure relief hose and an adapter to a garden hose or a 1 inch hose, you would make your water last a lot longer on a grass fire. Also be easer to control if you're driving the truck.
Dave and Dottie Kile I actually picked up a 1 1/2 to a 1 inch reducer so I can run a 1 inch line off and I swear it shoots twice as far now haha 😎👍

One tip :Dispersed stream is more effective for taking out fires if you are in situation you can use it. You should get some protective gear if emergency happens, and you need to react.

Keep you water supply close, build a pool if that’s your new home location in the beautiful hills of Moorpark. We all went through one hell of a fire in Camarillo/Moorpark a few years ago. 20-30 thousand gallon pool helps big time. More houses than firefighters in that area! Good video, thanks
Remember Tru-Fuel once open is good for 2 years. Not forever. Gas itself still loses power overtime.

I know it’s been a few years since you made this video but as a veteran firefighter with 33 years service and seeing where you live water seems to be scarce. With the pump you are using you will run out of water pretty quick. Something to consider. Get yourself a pressure washer, one that pumps anywhere from 8-10 gallons per minute. Use a zero degree nozzle and you will have one heck of a fire fighting machine.
Very nice! The TH-cams recommended this video…I’ll have to check out your other work and subscribe. I think you’ll get a lot of use out of that rig. Even just hosing down your equipment and fifth wheel. I thought you were in a desert area at first then noticed the treescape realizing you were in an area that had been worked over. But it still looks like it can get pretty dry. 700 bucks is great insurance if you can possibly put a fire down or at the least keep it at bay until the big guns roll up. I know some insurance companies will discount your insurance if there’s a hydrant close-by. Might be worth checking with them showing you have a fire water system.
I sure wish I’d had that system last summer. During drought someone tossed a cigarette butt and sparked a roadside fire. Luckily it was in the area the county keeps hogged down when I saw it. We tossed some buckets, ran 3 100’ hoses to a neighbors frost free hydrant, and hit it with shovels and rakes. It still spread quick before the rural volunteer fire dept showed up. It could’ve gotten real bad if it had jumped the old railroad bed that’s been converted to a walking trail.
Bet you could also set up some sort of rainwater collection system to keep your tank or tanks full until needed. You could daisy chain a couple or more tanks too. Could even set it up for irrigation if needed. The possibilities are endless…Nice work!

If your nozzle is only rated at 30 gpm, 1" hose is fine. 1 1/2" line is overkill.

Good video, that said a 'trash pump', while capable of being used to fight fires - it's not it's forte. Is ok if you're multi-tasking it - as shown in your vid, good results - but trash pump vs specialist fire pump in fire fighting is no contest. But good content and good on you for sharing as it shows you don't need to have the 'best' or 'perfect' gear to get good results.

Do you need a high pressure water pump, or a regular one which its water flow is 300 lpm is powerful enough?
But when you take off the hose the pump will continue to run will that damage the pump

It has probably 100 hours on it no issues
How would that work if we ran 300’ downhill 2” pipe and reduce to 11/2” pipe for another 400 then a short 11/2 fire hose ?
I’ve done a few hundred feet going up a mountain and did fine 👍
If I’m reading it right, you’re wanting 300’ of elevation drop. Your pump would need 14.25 psi to achieve 100 psi nozzle pressure(variable stream nozzle which is used in the video). This is accounting for friction loss and gravitational pull.
If it was only $100 for the 330 gallon tank then it worth the money to buy 1-2 more and link them together so you will have over 1000 gallons and about 20-25mins of non stop water flow
I used it for work for 6 months. Not hauling around 3 water tots lol
