Had much experience travelling on the NEC between BWI and Wilmington, Delaware whenever I would visit my kids in Delaware after flying into BWI , first from Kansas City and then from Charlotte, North Carolina.....a fun ride!
Coincidentally i was at the airport doing some training at that time. Was there earlier today to get some tasks done for work and spotted for a bit afterwards
Stuff has really changed over the past decade and it will only change quicker. In particular Siemens has completely taken over passenger trains as others have faltered.
MARC bought disels to replace their AEM-7s, they don't want to pay amtrak electricity costs. Their HHP-8s are the only electric locomotives that they have left.
nroclAniffirG it makes sense but I don’t like it either. Since MARC runs on tracks that aren’t electrified, it makes more sense to have a standard locomotive fleet that can be used anywhere
@@sccrdude22 MARC's Camden isn't electrified (no caternaries at all); that may have been why the diesel was headed down - to power a Camden run coming back, (Both Penn and Camden lines start at Union Station; the Baltimore end points are different.) I have never (as in ever) taken a Camden line train - because my connections in Baltimore were via Penn Station (either straight MTA or a mix of MTA and light rail depending on the time of day).)
@@Cactus732 Some - not all; and only the HHP-8s are being shelved - MARC is getting a mix of ACS-64s and ALC-45s (both are from the same Siemens plant in California).
Yes good old BWI love that place I don't railfan a lot there but I do railfan a lot at Halethorpe. keep up the good uploads!!!!!!

Who likes the traction motors of the Siemens SC-44 Charger
2:53 Loving the MARC
Excellent video of Amtrak And MARC
If you're still in Maryland, I suggest getting some trains at Seabrook and/or Halethorpe during rush hour

Great Catches of MARC HHP-8 4910 on MARCs 435/438/449 & MARC HHP-8 4915 on MARC 532 to Perryville I love HHP-8s

Yo I live in the Baltimore area and I go to BWI all the time to railfan. You should do a fan meetup!
I like how MARC has the old old aclea equipment
That's HHP-8
Nice video! What camera do you use?
Are you gonna be in DC this weekend? Do I hear Metro Action vid coming?
Why were they using diesel trains under the wires? Was it going where electrification was ending?

epic
Ayy my neck of the woods
I bypassed the station but never seen the airport. Where is it?
Why are American catenary so high up?
@I am Your father There not that high. What your looking at are communications wires
3:26 did he over run
Doesn’t happen often; did come in hot but probably pulled long on purpose.
like train
It hurts my soul to see diesel locomotives running under a catenary

@@sccrdude22 they should buy the dual power Bombardier that Montreal and New Jersey have.

Getting worse not better too, they’re replacing the few electric locomotives they do have with diesels.

7:05 - Capitol Ltd.?
No, probably the Cardinal. The Capital Limited Uses P42DC Diesel Electric Locomotives and Superliner Bi-Level cars
RedArrow73 that is the crescent the capital limited is not run by acs 64
That was the Sliver Star
Oh hey, I really hope that MARC ✌doesn't✌ wasting time using new SC-44 in under electrification 🥴.
