    We are friends with Kelly Kinevil, never met Robby who followed in his father's footsteps as a Daredevil. But Kelly has some great stories of his father & family life growing up.

    Another winner! LOVE THE WAY YOU GUYS KEEP IT REAL! None of the "10 Ways To Be The Best RVer In The USA!" Which SO smacks of we're in it for the TH-cam money! We were in Twin Falls back in April. Simply amazing that Shoshone Falls, and that bridge! We have friends in Filer. Will have to check out that county park for $20 a night! Nice! I could see myself settling there someday!

    Really enjoyed the video of Twin. We lived in Hailey Id. till 2012 so your in one our favorite area’s in the US. Funny story , I was crossing the bridge on my MC one day and saw a kid jump from the middle of the bridge. Freaking scared the heck out of me. We hadn’t lived there long so didn’t realize he was BASE jumping. Safe travels.

    I had the Evel Knievel motorcycle toy back in the 70's. I set it up to jump my parent's fish tank and, needless to say, things did not go as well as Snake River Canyon...

    Thanks for reminding me there are some things to see and visit along I-84 in Southern Idaho. In some ways for us it has become a drive to get to other places. I kept thinking Evel Knievel attempted that jump my senior year in high school but the memory just didn't seem right. I looked up the date and found the preparations were made during my time in high school but the attempt was during my first month of college. We haven't been to Craters of the Moon since the early 1980's so I'm looking forward to your next video as well. Please keep them coming.

    Thanks for the great video! Twin Falls is my home town! FYI, the bridge is pronounced like "per Rhine" bridge. 😎
    I was on the North side of the Canyon during the Evel Knievel jump. It was incredible. The town definitely was wild with all of the hells angels, etc. running up-and-down the roads. So fascinating for Jr High kid.

      Per Wikipedia, "Even though the craft made it all the way across the canyon to the north rim, the prevailing northwest winds caused it to drift back into the canyon."
      Evel really was an icon... look at us all still talking about him almost 50 years later. It was awesome to visit that site in person, glad we could share it and that so many seem to enjoy seeing it! Thanks for watching and commenting 👍😊

    This is where I live! I’m glad you were able to visit and represent our region so well, great videos and great entertainment from you guys! I didn’t live here when Evel Knievel attempted his jump, but I remember watching it on TV. His Skycycle used to be on display in the local mall.
    A few years ago (2011) his son Robbie Knievel wanted to attempt a jump, but was not granted permission, the original attempt was surrounded with huge crowds that was a massive burden on local officials not able to provide appropriate crowd control, and a lot of unpaid bills to local businesses. It ended up that Robbie’s attempt was scrubbed.
    On September 16, 2016, Eddie Braun, a Hollywood stuntman, who regarded Evel as his inspiration and hero, was able to obtain permits and successfully jumped the canyon, the entire event was performed as a private event, filmed as a live-streamed internet event, and locally there was only a small crowd. Eddie was successful using a Skycycle built from the same blueprints as the original, built by Scotty Truax, the son of Robert Truax, who built the rocket for Evel, however the technology of parachutes was much improved with modern a modern parachute. Even as Eddie Braun was successful, it remains Evel Knievel as the icon when people around the world speak of Twin Falls.
    In 2012, Audi made a commercial for their RS5, which includes original footage of the attempt of Evel’s failed jump, it can be found by googling Audi: return to Snake River canyon.

    • @EmbracingDetours
      @EmbracingDetours  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      When we found out the ramp was preserved for viewing we knew we had to see it, and looking across the canyon you really understand just how daring the attempt really was. A shame the parachute had to screw it up. Glad you enjoyed, thanks!

    Nice video. I remember when Evil Kenevil jumped that river.
    When we RV’d across the country this summer our little Maltese got a fox tail in her ear. Luckily we found a vet who managed to get it out. They’re really bad. I had never heard of them before.
