I definitely prefer this version over the original. The original felt watered down thanks to the NERD NOISES subduing and drowning out the main melody. Hearing the main melody better hear makes his theme pop out much more to me.
I feel like Avery is supposed to be an anime reference through and through Like, he's a total weeb of sorts like a fuckin Speedwagon Jojo, Kusuo Psyche, common trope of Shining glasses anime weeb but he still stays dressed to impress.
This character was the biggest "Whoa is that a boy or a girl...?" moment for me The game says "he" repeatedly but it still confused me to hell at first because he had long feminine hair and a female name
The view differemce between this and klara genuinely hurts my feelings. Pokemon sword and shiekd are mostly the same game and yet i feel like I'm missing out on something by not being a sword player because of how little people wanted shield

Although i prefer Klara in terms of music and personality (Poison Mono perfectly fits a toxic woman who'll do nearly anything to beat you) I still like Avery's team better and his backstory's much more interesting.
