As a nurse, that act by Peter was so funny. It's a little beyond, but in some things not so far. lol, Loved that. Mary, you are human and it's okay to get upset as long as you're finding a way back out so you don't add depression or bad depression is maybe a better way to put it. Praying for you.

LOL, I think I've started a revolution but it's just weird. Maybe if I hadn't been a patient the first time they used it. We hadn't advanced to that system when I was a practicing nurse. We just asked was the pain sharp, stabbing, oh we asked a lot of questions to find out what the pain indicated. Then we'd ask if you had a BM and how big was it and what consistency. Maybe we were worse. lol
People only get nervous and uncomfortable because nurses USED to be compassionate...now they are only about saving a buck for insurance companies they don't even work for. Ever consider that???
@@morgancalvi6675 What the heck is this for. I'm sorry if you had a bad impression of some nurse, but I can assure you they are very caring and conscientious. Nurses don't usually have anything to do with insurance. Doctors prescribe medications, no nurses. I don't know where you've been the last two years of Covid, but it's been hell on nurses because they do care and they're caught between their loyalty between their patience need for care and the health of their families. They go to work as scheduled and often work past hours. I think you need to rethink your response.
@@fralinsandfriends it wasn't just 'some' nurse...it's what I've seen of many, many nurses. I remember being in the hospital when I was young...and they wanted to be there to help you. I always thought they were better than doctors because a doctor sometimes is there and gone whereas a nurse is there for quite a while and really gets involved in your case. You'd have to have been around a bit in life to see the difference. Now it seems they only go by what your insurance will cover or whatnot. I remember onceI asked for lotion, and the nurse's response...'that's a billable item'. Don't throw this covid stuff in my face either...because if you ask me, it's BS...and germ warfare. That's another example...I have a broken neck with a messed up gag reflex...they don't care, they shuv a swab down your nose and throat and don't even care it is going to harm you.

I really appreciate you being so honest about not wanting to take your pain and frustration out on Peter. It is something we all can fall into and it takes honesty and forgiveness of ourselves and each other. Thank you for helping others to see healthy ways of dealing with it and also moving past slipups. You're awesome!

I too have c.f.,and when things aren't going the best that is all a lot of us can focus on. Talking through the issues,concerns and complaints is really therapeutic. This girl is by far the one of most positive, joyous and appreciative people I have seen. Living with this day in and day out is exhausting you want real life this is it.
I hope these IVs will make you feel a little better. I can relate to the desperate feeling of just wanting relief 💖
It's true, isn't it!? I don't have CF, I do have chronic health issues that has left me mainly bedridden for nearly 8 years. The desperation to feel relief, even if only by a bit or even just for a short time, is familiar. Having said this, however, my wish for Mary is to have her experience healthiness asap and for the long term. I hope you feel better soon too, Fiona.
That port needle is a constant reminder of how strong you are! Every time I feel mine move or itch I know that I am strong and brave and I will overcome! You are amazing and I know changing your mindset is not a switch you can flip, and it took me a long time to accept it, but now I choose to remember every time it moves how strong I am, and you are strong too!
Sending healing vibes your way. Just got out of the hospital with my 2.5yr old being admitted for a virus that hit his lungs(we've been dealing with his lungs since he was born). He isn't CF but he loves watching your videos and seeing you taking your inhalers because they're just like his and Ollie makes him so happy. Thank you for sharing your journey with all of us.

Idk if you guys will see this but I’ve been dealing with having chronic condition(s) for a while and I found out some bad news so I had a little cry and just watching your videos is so encouraging to remember that I’m not alone and life is what you make it. I love the clip of you two joking about the doctors questions! My grandmother was in the hospital quite frequently for a few years and we’d constantly laugh over having to be asked the same, and sometime ridiculous, questions over and over again. For us, it was always a great little moment to laugh and take our minds off of the stress of why we were actually there. 😊

Funny story to maybe make your day a little brighter. So I have primary sclerosing cholangitis and when filling out my health history I was watching a video of yours in the waiting room. Under existing conditions I wrote cystic fibrosis and turned it in. The doctor was like whaaaatttt? You look really good for having cystic fibrosis.... pools. No idea how I blanked that hard.

When my struggle gets heavy I’ve often thought of your words about staying positive and trusting that God is in control...and making most of what we can and not getting angry for not being able to do some things. I gotta say you are really lucky that you can go to hospital so often. I live in a country with problem where we don't have enough medicine ans space for people. so there is no way i could go back to hospital this often. last time was in december'17 and today i started ivs at home... that my parents bought on their own money..

Live life wherever you are even if it is in the hospital really helped me through the last months my dad was going through lung cancer treatment and recovery with Atome very bad cancer side effects, he nearly lost his leg due to clotting issues on his birthday! There goes an unplanned 4 weeks hospital stay. But he got his presents one by one and that really lifted his mood! Thank you for the advice!

To distract myself from my body yesterday, I offered to help a student I encountered with studying her flash cards here on the campus where I work. It turns out she was reading bible verses. This is a public university. I'd never met the student before. I asked her which was her favorite of the day which was : God is within her she will not fall from Psalms. It brought tears to my eyes. We agreed divine intervention was in play. So today I send it along to you. Being as open and intentional as you are navigating the husband/wife care taking-caretaker reality and nitty gritty of all that entails is awesome. Thanks for acknowledging that. Mary, as someone with chronic issues due to some unknown "syndrome" I've had since birth. I can totally relate to the mini breakdown you had about feeling better. I am currently dealing with a burst of chronic back pain that keeps me from sleeping at night. I recently went to the hospital for it after having the same "I want to feel better" moment you did. I hope your stay is short but helpful. Chronic illness is the worst, but look at us, living the heck through it!!!

Thank you for your honesty about sometimes taking things out on Peter when you're stressed. I do this too at times even though I also try not to. It's nice to know someone else struggles with that.

I've been inpatient for the last 5 1/2 weeks, and came in through the ER so we definitely weren't planning on this. I totally get it, not knowing how long you'll be in there and all the uncertainties of how you'll feel and what will happen. I'm praying for both of you! We thankfully have the largest room on the floor which def makes a difference, so I'd say if you end up being there a while, ask to switch rooms. I switched rooms about a week and a half into this admission and it truly changed things. You've got this! Praying for a smooth and quick admission. 💙

this reminds me of how i felt going back to the hospital for my second and third 1 month of chemo for my leukemia. it's a physical reaction to something that reminds your body of all the stress and then your memories start a sorta panic in your brain, a crazy circular cognitive trap. i guess that doesn't make sense... but yeah it's great the way you try to protect Peter. sending you love and God's grace.
Mary I know how you feel about constantly having to be admitted to the hospital and loved the skit by Peter! Because I have a chronic illness also. Not one I was born with but one that took me out of my career as a Paramedic straight into a wheelchair and it's a constant battle trying to keep it from advancing to where it will eventually cause me to be unable to breathe on my own.

I'm with you on the whole wanting to be normal thing. It's my birthday next week & my Mum asked me what I want to do. I didn't really think about it much, but at the time I told her that I just want a quiet day & not feeling ill! Thinking back now, it makes me wanna cry, but I have to go to bed, so that's not an option right now. I'll have to revisit that another time. It's important to acknowledge & deal with your feelings about having chronic illnesses (or any tough situation). But it's also important to choose joy as well. I too thankfully have the comfort of knowing God totally understands, better than anyone else can & that He's here for me 24/7 & that one day, I'll be chronic illness free! It won't be in this life, but I have that to look forward to when I eventually graduate to Heaven. Even though I have no idea when that will be, I know I'll be able to enjoy God's presence without any pain or exhaustion & it will be amazing! I'm so glad you guys can look forward to that too! I look forward to seeing you there.

Rest Mary! Take this time to just.... REST. We’ll be here for you my dear cyster. As someone with CF myself I know it can be so hard to go into the hospital but you know that when that becomes the reality, it’s because you NEED IT.

LOVE Peter's "hospital admission questions..." that is SO true!! Except it goes on for nearly an hour!! (Seems like...but literally for me it has taken 45 minutes before..!!) The worst is those questions after an ER visit that leads to admission at 4am, and all you want is sleep but they HAVE to ask you all these silly (necessary?!) questions. Ah! Couldn't they at least wait till morning at that point? They're coming at 5 or 6 am for blood work anyway... xD

Melissa Wilkinson they're absolute time wasters. Simply ask ... has anything changed since the last time? If there are clear questions that require a confirmation fine. I've got to the point I simply say ... nothings changed. I won't continue on with it. Especially when it's been two days since last admission.

When you sang, “You give me shelter in the storms of life”... I spoke it out to the Lord and He DID give me immediate shelter from a particular ‘storm’ I was experiencing, so Glory to God in the Highest! And thank you, Mary, for trusting in the Lord for everything and resting in His peace.

This video came out on the day that I went to the ER and then was admitted for the first time that I can remember. That was a scary proposition, but it had to be done. Just seeing this video's title helped calm me.
I don't have a port, but they put the IV in the bend of my elbow. So, if I bend my elbow too much, the machine blares because of an occlusion. I'm only having to deal with it for a couple days, but I can sympathize, Mary! I'll be praying for you during this stay.
