Does Heroic also manages the cloud saving and achievements for GOG games? I'm looking for alternatives because the GOG Galaxy feels too slow sometimes.
Does anyone know if they have fixed the privilege escalation exploit with GOG Galaxy 2.0? It's been 2 or 3 years and I still can't find if they have fixed it.
I use it as an addition to Steam and use Steam as the "main frontend". You can use it as your main launcher for gog and Epic, but Steam isn't integrated afaik. :)
Unfortunately, cloud saves, which are very important for everyone playing on multiple devices, does not work for all GOG games on Steam Deck. Not sure if it works with all Epic games. It'd be great to see a video focused on cloud saves on Steam Deck for non-Steam games. Thanks for your work! Cheers.
I only used Lutris back when I had a Steam Deck to install NFS Underground. Strangely, couldn't get it running via Heroic. Thanks for the comment btw, I just started this channel and every comment is like a shot of dopamine.

3:30 PC gaming doesn't require 30% "tax" that every developr have to pay. Heroic laucher is also pretty great for linux uaer installing epic games. Steam provide a amazing platofrm and charge accordingly but they too have shitty policy for buying games and I personally hate all laucher as much as I love steam input, x360ce to the rescue. So I think saying they don't want to pay steam is a but extreme, steam doesn't own the PC market like the console market. Creatin your own launcher/marketppace is alright if it works fine because if you feel its a better option or creating your own brand. 🤦🏻♂️Dude if you don't want all the Launcher's to Start when you start your PC then just disable the Startup processes for Them it's as simple as that 🤦🏻♂️
Not really, because if you launch any game from those launchers, the launchers have to start first, making the game launch super late. Heroic actually replaces both the Epic Games Launcher and GOG Galaxy, making them launching almost as fast as games that weren't tied to any launchers in the first place. :) It's one of the best open source projects imo, they backwards engineered everything.
@octavionicolini In steam , I just changes in compatiblity "Proton experimantal(or Proton latest version)" And logged in Epic games in my Heroic . Is this enough to play games from here ? Or i need to do more ?
I thought this meant you no longer had to download other launchers but you still gotta download like 7 launchers either way and they run in the background.
That's not possible. These types of programs are for having all of your whole PC library in one central place. Instead of opening up all of your launchers to browse through your games. btw, it just runs the launcher it needs for the game you want to play. If you want to get rid of all the other launchers you will need to "sail the high seas" for that lol
Why unite them? It's unnecessary and you lose a lot of Steam benefits with your method. You don't have to allow these clients to launch when your computer boots, you know that right? Solution in search of a problem.
Good question, here's my answers: If you don't run (for example) Epic Games in the background and you launch an Epic Game, it'll first boot up the Epic Launcher. The EL is one heavy spaghetti-code-infused brick of an app, which takes 10+ seconds to launch even on the fastest PCs. It then lingers away in the background, sucking up resources for nothing. If you have say, 5 game launchers cluttering up your system tray, then you best be sure that your pc will crawl when it first boots up and they all fight for resources. They also suck quite a bit of ram even in idle With this way, you unify all libraries in one place (under steam), as you'd have both your Epic and GOG games wrapped through Heroic inside steam. You don't lose any benefits for your Steam games, those remain the same. Your EG and GOG games will also integrate well into Steam, with boxart and even cloud saves due to Heroic. You do however lose some less like gametime and achievements for the non-steam games, but I think this is really insignificant. In this way, all of them go through deeper Steam integration (properly displayed in Big Picture Mode, streaming through Steam Link, compatibility with Steam controller input, etc) without having to repurchase the games on Steam. Personally, I call this a win over having them spread over multiple launchers, forced down my throat by greedy companies. :)
@@VladNerd If it works for you great but in regards to Epic I'd rather pay for games than use their shitty service or launcher. I have a modern computer with a fast, newer gen multi-core CPU, plenty of RAM and NVMe solid state storage, so performance is not an issue for me. Heroic is awesome! They just merged dlc support for gog a few days ago!
