You have a great looking layout!
Thanks, Rick!
thank you for saying "tips" instead of "hacks"
I'm old...

Glad it was helpful!
Simply outstanding tips on static grass, thanks for sharing!
Glad it was helpful!
Really nice job. Thanks for making it concise.
You're welcome!
Great tips! I am going to give them a try! Your scenery looks great!

Appreciate the kind words, Les!
Nicely done Scott, thank you for the tips.
You are certainly welcome!
This was a great tutorial and I have enjoyed all of your videos but now I’m caught up so you’re gonna have to put out a couple of videos a day so I can maintain the pace and keep learning, lol. I’m gonna watch the new one now.
Working on it!
this is really great!! wow ✅
Glad you enjoyed it!
Just came across your channel, nice Layout and some good info. Bob
Thanks, Bob! New at this (video) and so glad people find it useful!
I just stumbled on your channel. I like it! I too have a homemade applicator and a WS one. I actually added a metal screen to the applicator and ran a wire from the electrode inside of the unit to it. This really adds zap to it! Thanks for the tips.
I did the same with my flyswatter. Still was never happy. Glad you enjoyed the video.
Thanks for sharing. New to the channel
Welcome!
Very cool, would like to see a tour of your layout ☺️
Coming soon...
Watch for it to go public at 6 central today...
I have found that the applicators from World War Scenic are really well built and powerful.
I have the mini one. I feel that their applicators are also high quality. Noch as well. Also their grasses are very good.
@@pacificcoastmodelworks1928 Noc is just soooooo expensive.
WWScenics sales some nice grass applicators that work very well. War World Scenics.
I have the mini one. Seldom use it. I wish it had a power supply.
Hello, when you mention mixing 2:1 for the glue, Is it 2 parts ModPode and 1 part water or the reverse? Thanks.
@@mapit07 1 part modpodge to 2 parts water.
Finally a great tutorial for applying static grass from someone who understands the proper way to do it. Been doing it this way for years and hope others see this video to get great results.
Me too! Thanks!
Thanks for the tips. I have a homemade flyswatter/static grass applicator, but really didn't get satisfactory results. I also read/see/hear about people having difficulties with achieving satisfactory results. I'm sure it also has a lot to do with practice, but the right tool usually helps. I'll try using your tips.
Glad to help.
I have a question: I believe your RR Scale is HO. My layout, an early build, is N-scale. Do you stick to a certain size of static grass? I'm not 100% prototypical. In fact, it's my own track plan. But I do want the scenery to look as detailed and realistic as possible. Any suggestions, anyone? I Subscribed. Good videos
I do model in HO scale. I often use a human figure to determine how big is too big. Determine what the height of an n scale human would be in millimeters. A 6' person would be .45" in n scale (72"/160 = .45") or 11.43mm. Therefore waist height would be 5.71mm. Unless you're modeling the everglades, grass is seldom over waist high. I would therefore use static grasses of 6mm or less.

I think so. Pretty new at this.
What's the difference between static grass and non-static grass? I mean, virtually everything in model railroading is static, except the stuff that rides on the rails, so why refer to one element in scenery as "static"?
Static electricity makes the fibers stand up. That's the static that is referred to, not being motionless.
You ever been tested for Parkinson's mate?
I have not. But I am positive for whiskey.
