    The Streamlight you review here isn’t the only EDC flashlight with a concealed recharging port. The Olight I1R2 Pro also has it. The light is a cylinder divided into two unequal sections by a groove. If you twist the rear section clockwise, it turns on at the low setting (5 lumens). If you keep twisting, it steps up to the high setting (180 lumens). Twist counter-clockwise to step down to low and then to off.
    Keep twisting counter-clockwise until the threads disengage, and the two sections pop apart (the light is spring-loaded), widening the groove to reveal a USB-C charging port. The joint is protected by an O-ring, giving the light IPX8 water protection (up to one meter depth). I have this light and I really like it. Two inches long and weighs less than an ounce (22g). Not bad for $22 USD.

      That’s great to know! I have a few Olight flashlights I really like but hadn’t tried that model. Love the design idea, glad to hear it’s implemented elsewhere too!

    The ridge key organizer is my favorite. Less bulky then a orbitkey and all around better

    For the knife, the Rambler model is a worthwhile upgrade, as it includes a combo magnetized phillips head driver/cap lifter/wire stripper. Normally sitting at about $32.99, I see them on sales in the $25-28 range. And excellent addition with the mini ferro rod - I have that in my SAKs too, always a handy last resort fire source!

    I’m in the minority with you for actually using a handkerchief for blowing your nose. I did an EDC on my main channel and the Vala Alta people left a comment and went and bought a bunch of them. I think I remember you mentioning Vala Alta hanks. A year later and they’re still great.

    • @joshfenn

      So glad to hear this, the Vala Alta hanks are great! Definitely my favorite and daily, really looking forward to seeing the larger size they teased a while back.

      I used cotton for a long time until finding some linen hanks I’ve been really enjoying, but both are great!

    G'day again from downunder Josh.
    Whilst im not into the full edc scene, i currently use a Bellroy note sleeve wallet and just bought some JBL live pro2 earbuds (i liked the predecessor).
    I recently got a key organiser like the orbitkey and didn't enjoy using it, i found it easier just to put my 2 keys on a loop and attach them to my car key fob.
    As for a hanky i checked out the linen ones you reviewed but i couldn't warrant the price and shipping costs to Australia so i got some linen ones from an aussie seller on etsy. They seem ok but haven't used them much as yet

    • @joshfenn
      @joshfenn  ปีที่แล้ว

      Haven’t tried any JBL headphones in quite some time, I’ve heard good things about the newer models! 2 keys only with a fob makes total sense hearing it didn’t work for you, I usually carry 3-4 keys and no fob so it works but probably not worth the trouble in your situation. Hopefully the linen hanks work well for you, the material has been a nice change from cotton for me!

    Hi Josh great video as always. Just wondering how that all leather EDC is coming along. Really curious to see what you’d come up with😁. Also I saw that Nomad does a leather key organiser, maybe you could try that.

    • @joshfenn
      @joshfenn  ปีที่แล้ว

      No updates quite yet on that one, but I’m sure I’ll get it sorted out sometime in the next few months! I’ll keep that nomad organizer in mind too, the other stuff of theirs I’ve tried has been great. Huge fan of the leather Jibbon organizer though, it’ll be tough to beat.

    Hey, thanks for doing this one... I kind of got that tongue-in-cheek feel to these affordable options. Anybody that follows you knows you like functional and pricey things. Hey, who doesn't!?! A couple of things... I use an Aliengof front pocket wallet. $7.99. Works well and because I still like to carry some cash...I know it makes me sound old! Earbuds for me currently are the JLab Go Air Pop in slate..but they do come in a few different colors.. They really have great sound and are comfortable for my ears. They are 21 bucks. I was shocked at the quality. They also have the charging cable and USB plug built into the case.
    I am a Casio fan for watches. For the money and look....Outstanding. I wear an Illuminator.
    For an EDC knife, I carry a Buck 303 slim pocket knife. Three blades most days. I also have a nice Kershaw thin lightweight knife that is comfortable to carry. I hate large bulky knives. Good vid.

      @joshfenn  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I’ll have to take a look at that wallet and those headphones! I definitely have some high end kit that I really like but always love a good deal when it’s something that isn’t lacking - I’ve done a few budget Amazon setups for less than this with some great finds.
      I do get weary about some cheap generic types of things that are really common on Amazon and temu and similar spots, so many items made so cheap they’re practically disposable. In those cases it’s just a waste of money and materials to produce and buy. Enough ranting though from me, thanks for sharing on this one!

    Hey Josh, currently using the ATH-TWX9 from Audio Technica. IMO a great pair of earbuds, specially when the biggest complain I get from other reviewers is "too many control options". Came from Sony WFXM4s, which got that nasty battery drain issue. I would really like to try the Beoplay EX from Bangl & Olufsen, but I can't justify that price.

    • @joshfenn
      @joshfenn  ปีที่แล้ว

      Glad to hear you’re liking the AT earbuds! I’ve only used their over ears before. Those b&o headphones seem amazing, just looked them up. Price is rough but I’m definitely keeping them in mind.

    Handkerchiefs are meant for nose blowing IMHO! A bandana is my choice, the cheap all cotton ones especially.

    • @joshfenn

      Totally agree! I think we’re in the minority these days but everyone else is missing out.
      I’ve got some linen handkerchiefs I’ve been using for a couple of years, cotton’s great too though

    I genuinely don't understand whats wrong with a split ting style keyring. I have never heard a good argument against them. Key organisers are just an expensive alternative that doesnt do the job as well as a normal split ring

    • @joshfenn
      @joshfenn  ปีที่แล้ว

      I think things changed for me when I stopped carrying car keys moving into the city and being on foot all the time. The key organizer is far easier to carry and use and I tend to like the ‘tidy’ factor of having them in an organizer. Probably would feel as strongly if I was carrying around a big fob everywhere but without using a car it’s been really great for me.

    • @nickdurnan1867
      @nickdurnan1867 ปีที่แล้ว

      That's fair enough but I think one handed use of keys is crucial as so often you come back with your hands full and I just don't see how you can do that with a key organiser. I also think you are more likely to find your keys slip out of your pocket with a key organiser

    • @joshfenn
      @joshfenn  ปีที่แล้ว

      I would definitely never use an organizer I couldn’t easily one hand, deal breaker for me. The orbitkey and Jibbon ones have been great in that regard.

    Why tf would you want a reusable nose blowing handkerchief to keep in your pocket?

    • @joshfenn
      @joshfenn  ปีที่แล้ว

      Why wouldn’t you? Cotton or linen are way nicer on your nose, less bulky than a pack of tissues, less waste for the environment, cheaper…

    I love my streamlight, but I agree that micro usb sucks. I’ve never been interested in the key organizers because I have 1 key but 2 key fobs for cars. No organizers can handle big key fobs that I’m aware of.

    • @joshfenn
      @joshfenn  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yeah dealing with the fobs has gotta be tough. I don’t use my car day to day (usually on foot in the city) so I haven’t given it much thought before, but I know I’m in the minority. Would be worth checking into for future videos!
