I worked on this film and at BBC Stories we are keen to keep following this story and finding out what happens next to the club, fans and community. Jon, who's in the film at the end, has come up with a list of local pubs that are losing revenue and suggested dates for fans to go there. It meant that last Saturday the Stanley was full again - in contrast to the scenes in this video - with fans watching DVDs of Bury games. Meanwhile, Zoe is organising a special photographic project for #girlfans to "keep the Bury FC community alive". If anyone has aspects they would like us to follow up on please comment and we'll put these thoughts into our plans for the next video.
I too sobbed my heart out when I thought Darlington FC were doomed in 2012 turned out to be the best thing that ever happened to us. There is life after the football league enjoy all the new venues you'll get to visit looking forward to the day a shakers Vs Quakers game takes place again.were now fan owned no leeches bloodsucking the funds out of our club let's hope you can follow in our footsteps.
I am a fan of Bury, because I met the team in FIFA 07 from that moment I became fond of the royal club. I made it the best in England. I was not very up to date with the games because in Mexico with jobs the Premier is seen, but I found out that it disappeared and filled me with sadness. I just want to give all my support to the fans of this great club. Greetings from Mexico.
Heartbreaking to watch! So sad to see this proud club go under and what consequences it has for the local community. Greetings from a AFC Wimbledon fan from Norway.
I admire the passion that fans have in the UK. Here in North America we use the word “franchise” to describe our teams. We have unfortunately a corporate mentality which is sad. Teams moving to other cities without a thought. It’s ridiculous. Imagine Manchester United moving to Torquay and becoming the Torquay Torpedoes or something like that. I hope Bury FC somehow manages to resurface at some point.
I was heartbroken when my club Glasgow Rangers went into liquidation a lot of our “devoted fans stayed a lot only came back two years ago. Stick through the hard times and the good times will come again, something should figure itself out.
Stay strong Bury! From a Sheffield United fan, it wasnt that long ago since we were playing each other. Great fans and a great club hope to see them again at Bramall Lane!
I hope Bury can rise again. They are like my own club Walsall a small fanbase but full of passion for there beloved club. We have had many battles over the years and I hope we do again good luck shakers
It hurts me so much to see bury go cuz when I lived in Manchester I went to a few games and really seeing bury kinda move down south to Plymouth is my story in a nutshell cuz a few months before bury was liquidated I tried to take my life and to see that turning point in my life die is really really upsetting I live back in Plymouth now and I’ve always been a argyle fan but seeing bury just go isn’t right and shouldn’t be allowed I hate Steve dale but I love that Lowe still acknowledges the bury fans even when he manages us now RIP Bury Fc fly high
The people that clicked on 'dislike' must be heartless morons. I can understand local rivalry, but smaller clubs need to stick together rather than laugh at each others' downfall. This could happen to any club outside of the Premiership. Very sad that a community has been left without a club. I hope that Bury can start again with community ownership.
We need to get games going where fans can donate money to the club, have a game at Edgeley Park and then Bury’s stadium and I’ll give as much as I can, and I’ll get my mum and dad to do so too, I hope to see Bury in the top 4 leagues again 💙🎩 (Stockport County fan)
From America and not a bury fan at all (actually fell upon Rochdale due to Luke Matheson scoring against Man U) but watching this makes me so upset I’m tearing up. I will become a bury afc member if I can because they do not deserve this fate. Up the shakers!
The Everton Chairman Bill Kenwright offered to bail them out. The English FA rejected his proposal. Some clubs and owners did care. None of the Big Six naturally.
Many have found it too painful to watch any football since...But the community is working together to somehow revive the club. Find out more here: www.bbc.co.uk/news/stories-51134707
Daniel Oliver we have a metrolink straight from Manchester 20 minutes right from Piccadilly and Victoria if people can’t be arsed doing that but will travel to forest green rovers they are stupid 😂
It is the financial problems they have they are not bringing enough money in the club to run it apparently they couldn’t even afford to pay the players or the board workers
@@genericyoutubeviewer4483 I guess if it did happen your team would drop down the league and starts again like Afc Wimbledon and accrington Stanley did
Why didn't they just go public? If the community is so supportive why not just buy the damn club? Have each citizen throw a quid or two in and sell stock of the damn thing? Hold local elections for the board of directors.
The Bury FC Rescue Board wanted their team reinstated in League Two next season, but the English Football League has rejected their bid this afternoon. More info here www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/49841324
If only I had an English citizenship and the required amount of cash and the required resources I would have saved this club. So heartbreaking to see this and I hope to visit this town and have a chat with the locals about what happened. And one question where the bloody hell was the FA in all of this? because I’m really interested to know what happened Coming from an MUFC fan by the way
Hi Patrick - the chairman of the FA (Greg Clarke) said that he was only made fully aware of the situation AFTER Bury were expelled from the league. This text story has a bit more detail on that www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/50132652
Tom J Beal that’s BS because the FA should have taken action before this has happened and the EFL should have received a severe punishment from the governing body of English football which is the FA. Corruption in this game should be dealt with because that is what is ruining the game that we grew up loving and the case should be taken to westminister palace and let the English government deal with it. It’s unacceptable lads really.
